  1. To go for the dark and twisty humour.. London.. so they were London Business People.. not exactly the most shining examples of pleasant behaviour gathered... But seriously, yes.. not helping is one thing, but stopping to just take pictures (possibly with an eye towards selling it to the news?) does speak of a rather callous and appalling attitude.
  2. Well.. to add to your worries.. isn't she ethically bound not to date you whilst you're still her patient? So to date her you have to lose her physio services...
  3. I don't know.. If you've seen repeated news stories of good samaritans who've ended up losing their houses because some idiot they helped save sued them for the manner in which they saved them.. You might start being cautious in providing aid... A couple of years ago there was even one where a policemen was sued by a woman he performed cpr on. Because he opened her top and exposed her bra to the onlookers. I kid you not.
  4. Kind of staggered into this morning. Managed a few hours sleep ..which is good , otherwise I'd doubtless be halucinating wildly by now.. Although some freaky dreams this morning. Got a few odds and ends done during the day. Even got to sharpen my mind on something this afternoon.. although after sending an email I was suddenly cursing as I realised my use of grammar was wrong... Of course, to add to the joys of the week I'd been watching an rpg book on ebay thats no longer published.. waiting for that finale moment to put in my bid.. which was right at the time I get called for in the loud emergency voice from family.. I dart out to find it's just some dinner related question. Of course, when I get back I find I'd lost the bid... Last minute snipes...
  5. The dangers of being sued for trying to help people helped push away the urge to be a good samaritan. Also, the heavy pressure of radical feminalism did its best to kill the chivalric urge.... Combined with the general desire of people not to get involved in things these days as well... All combinations that suck the life out of common courtesy and the willingness to aid a stranger. Heh, I know I've gotten a few comments from the girlfriends of my mates at times over the fact I'm one of the few guys they've ever met in their lives who will offer a jacket if I notice they're cold, or regularly hold open a door for them.. If even those basic attitudes have disapeared, the odds of people actually being helpful when theres possible danger?
  6. Needs more lines in sand. What happened to America's "we'll do it ourselves, go away government" thing? Thats been an iconic myth they've kept telling themselves for a few centuries now..
  7. There's the Imperial Agent - the dude with sniping amidst his skills from the looks of it.. and then Shadow Inquisitor to Sith Assassin.. So it's going to be your choice of whether to be an ass with a long gun, or an ass with a double lightsaber...
  8. Dang it.. that made me want to dig up a copy of John Tams rendition of "Spanish Bride".. but it's not on youtube.. I guess those old regimental songs from Sharpe aren't lingering around.. Farewell and adieu to you Spanish lady Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain For we're under orders to sail home to England But I know in some time we'll return once again
  9. To quote the ever-useful Red Dwarf.. "Only Lager can kill a Vindaloo."
  10. It's one of the many things we brought back from India in the glory days of the Empire.. Hm, now that has me thinking of an old song by the Bonzo Dog Band.. Hunting Tigers down in Indi-aah...
  11. Technically, I've got clan out in Oz-land anyhow.. a few dozen spread out from one side of my family.. And dear boy, I consider myself English. I never call myself British.
  12. "staple two archdemons together and call it Super-Blight!"
  13. Since when did this become a bad thing for Brits? Well I thought I'd just leave it hanging there as a straight line...
  14. Just as long as they don't go the route of CoH and split the servers up geographically... The Europeans not being able to mix with the Americans, and no-one being able to play with the Australians...
  15. Hearing the original Deus Ex music always puts me in the mood to read / play around with the old Shadowrun rpg...
  16. Well they've got 8 main classes (4 Republic, 4 Sith) and each class splits into a choice of 2 advanced classes. And with different skill trees available, apparently Bio are saying that the roles can be quite different.. So the Smuggler can go into the Scoundrel advanced class, but depending on how you pick your skills can become a healer, a scout type, or general ranged damage.... Or you can go with the Gunslinger advanced class for dual weapons and serious firepower and various dirty tricks.. I'm curious how the Jedi Consular can become the Steathly/Investigator type.. And then there's the Sith Inquisitor that can split into either a Darth Sideous style Lightning ranged damage guy, or a Darth Maul lightsaber assassin type... The Bounty Hunter could be fun, but then it has the rule of cool for the assorted armour improvements, flamethrowers, gadgets and suchlike..
  17. Trying to stabilise after repeated nights battling that dread, demon known as INSOMNIA!! Had to go up to the GP's to pick up a prescription for my mother.. only to find that the nurse had forgotten to actually get it sorted out after the last appointment.. so joy, semi-wasted trip. But at least I was able to pick up some assorted groceries on the trip back. Now set with pg tips supply. Got some clearing up and organising going while still in that need proper sleep haze.. and stumbled onto a picture of the ex-who-was-the-first-love-of-my-life... (I could probably put that in caps and multiple exclamation marks..but that might be a tad overdone) which kind of had that slight kick in the teeth effect of memory. Now that's what I call a monday start.. I'm wondering if it's setting the tone for the week....
  18. A prize for Education could be split between Wiki and Google.. I mean, it's on the internet, it has to be correct..
  19. C'mon, the music to the Deus Ex HR trailer deserves to be mentioned on here now.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcFB8Rmy-Sc
  20. Apparently you get some control of movement within that tube.. as well as the shooting... And that sligth movement is why Bio are saying it's not strictly speaking a "rail-shooter"... Basically, it sounds like a similar style of "brief, arcadey" mini-game that was in Kotor as the turret shooter. Not as something to take the place of the "proper" playing, but a short break from it...

    Books

The Count of Monte Cristo - It's a classic for a reason. Sure there are patches where it delves into over-the-top detail... but overall it's nicely structured and an enjoyable look into the nature of revenge, mystery, and murder.
  22. I see no reason to start hating on this without more actual gameplay footage to watch... In fact, I'm really interesting in getting hold of it to see what the police station is like myself..
  23. They normally let you have a bunch of alternate characters on the same account. Some mmo's have charged for more, other's have had loyalty schemes that have given players access to more "alts" depending on length of account held. From what it sounds like, Bio are pushing the idea of players re-rolling fresh characters of different classes as they finish the "class-story" arcs... So I'm guessing they'll give you a bunch of alternates from the get go.
  24. There's also this : http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/dead...2/video/6281911 Some brief bit from the Art Director and James Swallow the writer.. It starts at around the 7:50 mark... Nothing really that new, some mention on the book that's coming out as well.. and some on how it took them a year of working with Square Enix to get the trailer to represent the game...
  25. That's the trouble.. a drama is a drama. a comedy is a comedy (well.. mostly). But sci-fi has a lot of very different sub-genres that don't easily compare to each other. And it gets mixed in with a lot of others... Edit: Then of course there's the drama or suspense hiding behind the veil of sci-fi... But that's identifying whether the sci-fi is the key aspect or just fluff around the story... Star Wars did to fantasy, wizards and orphans into heroes the same as Firefly did to cowboys, smugglers and hookers. Hm, do you think if Whedon had used that as the tag line "It's cowboys, smugglers and hookers.. in space!" to the tv companies they'd have let him run it longer?
