  1. Yeesh, that brings back memories. I had a girlfriend of the time present me a copy of Asheron's Call back in the day so we could game together on there. For years that was the only "AC" I knew...
  2. I have to say, The HK quest line is very.. awkardly split to me. You have some really well written and atmospheric missions in there, and then that god-awful planet searching buried in between..
  3. I need to get back in to some regular gaming on this. Just haven't been in a vaguely sci-fi mood , even with the magic that is Star Wars lately... Of course, I keep getting told horrible things about another style of HK-type search mission that crops up on Makeb that I'm dreading getting when I start to plow through those quests properly...
  4. What's funny with the books is that the character of Jack Reacher is a 6'4, 240 lb guy. The interesting bit was the author describes it as helping convey the sense of implacable unstopability of the character, but he was still happy with the casting of Tom Cruise in the role because he manages to convey that same sense with his own charisma rather then pure physicality. As per usual, they droped a fair few bits from the book to cram it into a movie, but it was watchable entertainment still. Iron Man 3 has lots of goodness to it, a few things I'm not a hundred percent happy over, notably the whole Mandarin spin out at the end. I loved the idea, and thought it was well-handled, I just wish they had used someone other then the Mandarin for that role. It almost feels as if they made it the Mandarin just to flash and distract the fans from the other side of the story (without revealing too many spoilers). Although Ben Kingsley was certainly amusing in the role towards the end.
  5. It's always fun when you wake up feeling all refreshed and kind of bright-eyed, look over at the clock.. and come to the realisation that you've only been asleep for around 3 hours. Then suddenly it all crashes away and you suddenly feel exhausted and crap... Then spent the rest of the early hours of the morning trying to fall back asleep but just dozing in and out and not getting comfortable. Ah well. The sun is now bright and shining. The cup of tea is being drunk.
  6. Pootled along with various things this afternoon. Hm, logged into facebook to check a few things and suddenly got logged out because someone else was logging in from LA on some Mac OS with Safari.. and the IP placed it with T-Mobile so most likely an ipad or some such. Still, since I was there at the time it was just a quick re-login and say "no i'm not using it there" and change the password. Edit: Heh, and apparently, this is the location to a much more narrowed degree.. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=34.1503,-118.139&hl=en&ll=34.150543,-118.138427&spn=0.0018,0.004128&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=10.719976,33.815918&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=34.150642,-118.138426&panoid=KX98FW1upC5t8wU29YcPPQ&cbp=12,227.52,,0,3.68
  7. I've been on a Yuki Kajiura kick tonight.. http://youtu.be/vmcmttGAFj8
  8. You don't have to be in a relationship with a girl to enjoy some playful flirty banter and just making them smile... Woke up way too early with a background headache. Spent the last few hours pretty much hazing in and out of the world as is. Not sure I'm up for focusing on anything too serious right now, but fresh cup of tea and seeing if I can steel myself for accomplishing something.
  9. Wrapped up the end of Kingdoms of Amalur. Which was strangely enjoyable, but yet having apparently spent a little over 80 hours wandering through it and the dlc.. I have few strong memories of any particular story points. Hm, well the dlc sticks out in memory more then anything else. But the characters and such like seem to have mostly blended together. Still, I think I can say for about £15, that was worth the money.
  10. Well tis sunny and after a chunk of dealing with various and sundry "admin" like tasks for the day, and just putting another batch of laundry out on the line under that bright sunshine.. I'm going ot call it quits for the day and sit back with a deep glass of mixed fruit juice and figure out some totally pointless but generally fun thing to do with my time. Possibly involving computer generated explosions.
  11. Eh, there are worse fates the licence could suffer. While I'm not wildly optimistic at the moment, I'm not ready to cry woe and rail against the universe. I'll stick to a wait and see approach until they announce the next couple of games...
  12. Heh, I still like that there's that guy in a grey shirt that first year who looks disgusted with the singing, keeps on writing answers, finishes, and then leaves while they're all still going...
  13. Hm, following on from the Les Mis earlier.. The university of Toronto - 2011 - Engineering exam, first year: Which, apparently got followed in 2012 - again for the first years engineering exam:
  14. I imagine one might learn of certain peccadilloes entertained by your friends in such a gaming situation. This strikes me as moderately disturbing--didn't wanna know that about Hank. Let's not say anything about the GM might reveal in their reactions and choice of twisting the behaviour of the various npc's involved....
  15. "And life has killed my post-grad dream...."
  16. Oh the joys of a well-executed jail break. As diverted into slap-stick comedy by a cunning GM....
  17. That is what a long-haired persian is like. Regular brushing every day and the knots are be-damned hell to get out.
  18. Just for the semi-random quotage from a work of fiction that links in on the subject might entertain a few of you..
  19. If we're going to start bringing the animals into this thread.. One dog enjoying the sun.. The other beastie out in the sun... The cat hiding from the sun...
  20. I always have mixed feelings about Stan Lee, on the one hand, yes, he is a major cultural icon of the comic industry, he usually seem's willing to take a poke of fun at himself, and he has certainly guided a whole slew of comic-related matters over the years.. On the other hand, you hear how he's managed to take credit for the work of a lot of others over the years and shifted their original visions around in the process of making it all a "part of stan lee's legacy".. So I think it becomes a mixed bag. Ah well, that's probably the same that can be said for any larger-then-life character that has been around for decades..
