Lines and quotes that I stumble upon as I wander around on the internet... “My experience of life is that it is not divided up into genres; it’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.” "She was as welcoming as the local gestapo..." "Toykyo, Shibuya - Where Rule 34 leaves the Internet and Reaches the Real World" "Remember kids, you HAVE to follow your dreams. Because, well, otherwise... you could end up just like your parents and how frakked up would that be??" "Whoever says I'm an autocrat is clearly mistaken. I represent the height of representative democracy where everyone gets a vote. Mine just counts for more than all the other ones combined, when you read the final tally, that's all." "That's the beauty of democracy. If you can get everyone busy enough voting they will never see what it is you are really trying to do...." "Almighty God, please make me pass my exams. I know you didn't do anything to stop the holocaust, but I really want these qualifications." "If militant religions force you to worship at gunpoint, what does a militant aethiest do? run into a church with a gun and tell you not to pray? or going door to door and irritating people watching Wimbledon, by quoting Richard Dawkins and handing out blank pamphlets?"

The BH seemed to have some good ideas, but the execution kept falling through. Or railroading you along really silly routes. Although I guess there could be a fault to how they had to change it. As I recall, a lot of the storylines were originally written so that companions wouldn't automatically default to joining you. So it would be possible to turn them down or kill them or some such. But for various reasons during the beta period that got hammered out because people might get stressed over accidentally losing a companion when they didn't mean to, and since it's not like a save and reload environment..

Actually, ever since they combined the planetary commendations into one pool, this really isn't a hassle to keep gear up, you just go to fleet every other planet and pick up the assorted gear mods from planet y instead of planet x that you happen to be on/just completed.

Caught an old episode of Babylon 5. A View From the Gallery. Say what you like about Babylon 5... Sometimes the stories got a little ropey, the special effects might not have aged as well as others. But they did a whole lot more on a lot less budget, and they pushed the idea of a central story arc rather then purely episodic further then a lot of shows were doing at the time. Whilst the music Christopher Franke composed for it just always hits the right emotive notes without being blatant. Every now and again they'd do something to twist up the usual style like they did in this episode, following two characters who would basically be "extras" in the background of any other episode, a pair of maintenance workers doing odd work around the station and showing what the world looks like from their viewpoint. The main characters going around in the background, the overheard conversations and scenes with the "workers" commenting on this and that as they go about their day.

Despicable Me. Certainly a fair few wry smiles and half-giggles...

I actually knew someone who had been a cop for over a decade in New York, they really believed in helping people but got heavily worn away by the public attitude. It was interesting how cliquish the cops become to support each other in the face of that and cover each other's asses. Although it also got balanced by the cops concealing things to "protect" each other, but then handling it "internally" when it got out of hand. She actually transferred to Internal Affairs after being exposed to some "serious" corruption rather then the low-grade cop stuff. But when she did, lost over half the friends she had in other cops because of the attitude they have towards IA. Within a year the stress got to her along with the withdrawal of the usual cop support system that she quit the force.

"England had an Empire, we had fun. Russia had an Empire, they had fun. America has an Empire, have fun, it doesn't last....."

For some reason, in the past 6 or so months since I last played it and it worked perfectly with no problems then... Saints Row 3 randomly freezes up on my now. Usually during the cut scene at the end of a mission. So I end up having to alt tab out to hit the end process, restart, and then redo the mission once more..

Yup. Ubisoft got hacked, the news went out about 50 minutes ago. Still, I always feel safer going to the account site on my own and resetting passwords then following email links in general..

Agreed. There's nothing really challenging in the entire game. That doesn't prevent the game from being a blast to play, but I wouldn't have minded some challenge, at least in some of the optional stuff like the activities/distractions. Indeed. There's nothing challenging about the gameplay. What made me get annoyed with the Insurance Fraud traffic driving was that I always found that those hot spots you were directed to just dried up and hardly had any traffic going through. Which is very frustrating when you want to enjoy the ragdollishness.. Only this game around, there's actually traffic.

Heh, I guess I can simply blame it on picking up all the knacks for how to get it to work when I first played it. I guess doing a replay after this much time just makes it feel a lot smoother to handle.

Hm I spent about 15 -20 minutes this morning running through some of the activities on Saints Row 3.. I have to say, they seem a hellava lot easier then they used to. Did thq do any odd patch before they had to flog everything off? Traffic Diving used to be a pain in the ass with the volume of traffic and cars speed dropping whenever you started that activity, now its like badda-boom-badda-bing and it's all done and completed with no need to chase the traffic down..

Unfortunately, now I've got two connected guilds (Imp and Republic) and a sister on the server currently. I can't run out just for chance to hang with the "cool kids"

Woke up on the early side this morning, battled with an attempt to drop back to sleep. It's got that clammy, pressured feel of waiting for a thunderstorm to kick off and I think that might be pushing the headache along that's grinding annoyingly on my forebrain... Ah well. Cup of tea and a bit of random doodling around without getting overstressed...

Evil Dead 2 is Evil Dead 1 made with more money. The remake suffers from a bad lack of Bruce Cambel, but I guess you don't get to reboot your own movie. Evil Dead 2 was Evil Dead 1 but with more money and a lot more humour twisted in. And Bruce was one of the producers for the remake...

Having a kick around with Saints Row 3. Call it juvenile, but I do think the delivery of the whole " A ****ing tiger?! A ****ing tiger Angel??!" was damnably well done...

Was the "tree rapist" still there? There was.. an encounter with some hedges and spindly bracken, and a weird doppelganger kind of instance. But not exactly the "tree rapist".

What annoys me is that Much Ado About Nothing was on at the cinema here for a week. Then it was off. I'd planned to go see it, but didn't realise I had that limited a time to do it in.

Evil Dead. The remake. It's not bad actually. Definitely much a return to the original, not so pushing the zany humour side that followed after the original, and with it's own spin/take on the premise. A group who are headed into the woods to help the friend / sister of one of the group detox from her drug habit. Of course, said cabin turns out to have a certain book hidden in the basement, and the usual supernatural shenanigans occur.

That attitude will lead you on some crazy adventures my friend.. trust me. I'd like to share a picture to prove it, but it's about as NSFW as it can be. That's what private messaging is for . The proof you can never show on an actual thread...

I don't think I'm quite that desperate yet..

Managed a short burst of work, then throwing laundry around and there is no quick and easy way to get a few dozen socks and such on the washing line to dry... especially when the doorbell or phone keeps going everytime you get started..

And then return to the selection of national flags for the added humour.. Now prepare to close your eyes in startlement for ...

To remove all attention from the famine victim, I will throw in this for the distraction value..
