  1. Got asked by the friend is there a build that can make use of novice suffering talent(he likes idea of unarmed monk, but didn't liked wound mechanic) on other, preferably melee class. I stumble a lot on "fix glazes on carnage with novice suffering" but thats obviously wrong advice dew to hidden +1 ACC per level on carnage and other abilities... So is there something I can advice person with or only monk for unarmed? He consider himself experienced so he will run on hard.
  2. Well original split started from trying to maximise firebrand duration. In PoE with 22 int in the end I only was able to keep it for 49 sec max. So 18 MIG came out of "I don't want to dump res, i don't want to dump con, so where this 8 points will do most good". If it is 2 minutes PoE2 with just 20, after getting +5 from Duality that would be complete overkill. Doubt most encounters would last even half of firebrand time. Maybe 16 int will be better then. With Duality modal it will be 21. Thats free up 4 points. With 16 MIG might be good idea to go 16-10-11-15-16-10 in the beginning then(accuracy from start) translating to 16-10-15-11-16-10 later... Well its just not to stumble in some trap talents. Like Scion of Flame on Dragon Thrashed CHanter in first game
  3. I remember hearing that rapid casting becomes suppressed for weapon spells if you have matrial casting... THough I can't remember where xactly and about what version it was. What about stats? In PoE character ran 18-10-10-10-20-10 to maximise damage per swing coupled with weapon duration. Here it look like I'll be able to get +5 int from Turning Duality so is it still worth to start with 20 in int? I know game have hard cap for stat in 35 point, but I do not know will I even be able to hit it Looking at ability trees. I think it will be something like Lifegiver\Nalpasca Sunbeam+Swift Strike Nature Mark Fast runner Firebrand + Twohanded style(on monk side) Taste of hunt Dance of death Returning storm + Lightning strikes(do lashes still stacks?) Torment reach Infestation of maggots... or maybe purge of toxin? Form of Dalengman + Enduring dance Duality of mortal presence Scion of Flame Rapid Casting + Raised Torment Crusible of suffering Relentless storm or maybe Practiced healer... not sure Sunlance + Turning Wheel Matrial caster Improve critical Heart of storm + Heartbeat drumming Penetrating empower?
  4. Well then it is more like "oh crap, my main healer can't manage it, here I go button" Still useful xD What about Rapid casting? Wouldn't it be better as it would also boost other spells and IIRC swift strikes in Deadfire actually boost casting speed too
  5. Pity, Lifegiver it is then. Well, nothing stops me from spiritshifting as fight starts, busting out moonwell and other rejuvenation stuff that needed, then turning back, summoning firebrand and going to melee. After all -5 PL after shifting would pretty much make rejuvination stuff not that viable after shift Isn't matrial casting afftect weapon summons? IIRC Quick summoning is for creatures only
  6. I think I'll stick with druid/monk multiclass just to not depend on items for firebrand Which druid subclass would be best then? Standart animist? Or maybe even lifegiver? As I understood - Lifegiver summon block only count for creature spells, not weapon summoning... Or am I wrong?
  7. Ok so maybe that way it would be more productive 1. Is Fury bonus to elemental spells works with Firebrand? It has elemental keyword so it should in theory but then again - it is a summon so summon itself might not be affected. If its not affected - is there a better druid class to go? 2. Is firebrand itself viable in Deadfire? I know wizard weapons are great but what about giant fire sword? Is it viable for ascetic? 3. What abilities are better to take in new game for twohanded monk? Should I keep lightning strikes for example or switch to swift flurry instead? 4. Is there a reason mechanically to go with skills other then maxing out alchemy for keeping Nalpazca high on drugs? 5. What drug I better to stuck up on as Nalpazca as coral snuff speed boost does not stuck with swift strike IIRC 6. What subweapon I should get? Basic one is clearly greatsword proficiency 7. Does Scion of Flame still works with base firebrand damage or not
  8. So I almost finished running this build and planning to import him as my first PoE2 char. So I wonder - can I keep this burn themed style character by transitioning into Ascetic most likely Fury/Nalpazca (in memory of Zahua) or this thing won't fly?
  9. Might also be it just so not to waste points on last level. Monk has basic +1 stealth so 4 stealth is essentially 1 full level
  10. While I didn't run solo wizard, moon godlike would be safe bet. Probably strongest racial bonus in game - three healing waves which will be both useful source of healing and "panic" effect
  11. So has been running this build. Funny thing how some plans crumble when they meet with reality xD Instead of Llawran's Stick and fist I ended up rocking Abydon's hammer and Grey sleeper. With maining sleeper and using hammer mostly to smash it down and stun everyone around. Here is character stats he ended up with Prior to me going on dragonslaying spree xD P.S. Man, Durance is on the roll with Nightshroud!
  12. So I got thinking. Game has limited amount of content(known amount of checks, reliable quest results) so in theory it should be possible to run a "perfect" character - one that hit all stat and skill checks, collect as much dialog choices as possible, be able to finish all quests in best(for himself) way possible and wear objectively best equipment in game. So question is - how would this character look like? Thinking about and checking wiki I think I got some points but would be nice to hear if I missed something "best" class would be priest of Eothas or Skaen OR Cipher. Cipher hit less dialogs but can finish few quests faster and have additional ways in them. Also have no reputation dependancy. Skaen I think has more checks then Eothas but I think Eothas has more story related checks "Best" weapons would probably be stilettos or daggers dew to flick of the wrist feat so probably dualwielding is way to go but there is some very very nice shield though RES should be at least 19 i think(resolve check in Guilded Veil, assuming beating Temple of Eothas prior to windmill quest... but it will hurt), around 18 int, 16 PER and 14 MIG. Highter check comes after resting becomes available I think and almost all CON and DEX checks can be moved to companions(and one that can't does not provide best quest resolution SKills are Lore and Survival, don't think any other appear anywhere, where you can't send in Eder or someone else Races looks relatively equal in term of dialogs. Orlan has most checks but it generally just so you can stop someone from ****ting on Orlans... Or am I missing something Is it correct or I am forgetting some points?
  13. I somehow messed up Kind Wayfarer and Goldpact knight in my head. Thought Kind wayfarer one with additional burn DoT on Flames so he will pretty much 100% go with Scion. Nevermind
  14. Not sure kind wayfarer will be able to get Spirit of Decay in. Bleak worker would have had easier time
  15. You might also consider Bittercut saber from WM1. Corrosive damage is very very good in this game
  16. That's why I generally operate with min maxing stats... Difference between 10 and 12 per almost unnoticeable, but 18-12 perception provide noticeable difference Also I find intellect to be very impactful on characters with aoe skills. I mean it boost skill radius and when it comes to area, radius becomes squared
  17. What about ranger? As far as I know ranger doesn't have many addictive damage bonuses in melee apart from Predator sense + Novice sneak attack
  18. One more question then - how useful boosting dex is once you hit 0 recovery point? Lets say swift aim ranger in padded armor with two stiletto reached 0 recovery with 10 dex. Is there any point to put anything in dex? Doesn't seems that you shave off a lot of frames after that point
  19. Spelltongue was fixed? I remember reading somewhere that its time siphon enchantment didn't work and no info about it being fixed later
  20. Wow, I somehow missed obvious rapier+dagger combo. Might look absolutely badass on some aristocrat dual-wield ranger or rogue. Thank you
  21. In most cases dual-wield builds go for similar weapon - two sabers or two stiletto or two clubs. But is there any good dual-wield weapons setup where there are different types of weapon in each hands? I know one good such combination: Spear(Danulya or Cladhaliath) + Hatchet (Hearth Harvest or Regnar Konnek) - accuracy on spear, deflection bonus from hatchet, both get bonuses from Weapon Focus: Peasant. But is there anything else worth considering?
  22. Also I think his PotD guide was done prior to dlc and stats were rebalanced after that. At least his Potd guide is not in his white march 2 playlist If you are going full party, dumping res is totally viable, especially if you are going with pike or quarterstuff or ranged weapon and thus can keep yourself somewhat away What is more important on PotD is control. There are much more enemies so ability to disable part of them makes surviving much easier. Be sure to use stuff like stun and prone. Or, you know, kite and seperate them but this is less fun Personally I find more shooting oriented parties better on PotD then melee one(two tanks and 4 guys with ranged weapons. Kana chanting Ila). Easier to focus on actually dangerous monsters as fight generally consist of 1-2 highly dangerous monster coupled with bunch of bodies who make it harder to get to actual target but it is in no way ideal combination
  23. Question about cladhaliath was for marking paladin Boeroer mentioned xD I know that dualwielding is superior but twohanders just looks awesome I am mainly about this fact: A bit hard to get too much ACC when you max ACC bonus at fine. But I think with 10 per, high starting ACC, Weapon focus and bonus from Firebrand being spell should be enough to hit reliably xD
