I voted for the perfect group: Kirottu, Tigranes, ~Di, LadyCrimson and Kaftan Barlast. Because I wanted an all-girl gang. Or because these are the people I want to see dead. You choose.

Mindless Entertainment + High Quality = ???
mkreku replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Computer and Console
Puzzle Quest is a perfect "I just want to sleep while I game"-game. Weirdly enough, Crackdown on Xbox 360 is another one; I just jump around and catch green balls all over a beautiful town. Oh, and never let the Gothic games anywhere near your house. Highly demanding + Low quality = Death from stress. -
Only one death? I'd call that a good session! Well done, little virtual me!

It's probably been posted already, but if it has, it's worth another post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKn9aQ5V2uc That's easily the best drummer I've ever seen! I love that guy.

We have SpeedTree, Havok, PhysX, whatever-that-thing-from-Hansoft-is-called, Euphoria, Fmod, Renderware, Bink etc. and so on. Why is it that noone's selling a "Record one voice, use our software to generate a hundred other voices from that one voice seed!" third party application? Is it really that difficult to invent?

I'm beginning to think Tigranes created this thread just to watch virtual me die.. over and over again.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure this isn't an actual flaw in the game. Personally, I liked having the choice. Also, every merchant has different wares. It's worth it to check up on all of them every once in a while.. just not every time!
-
Could you check again and post a screendump of that page or something? I am either doing something horribly wrong or you're a special VIP of the Internet that gets extra cool features on every website you visit. I would hate for the latter to be true.

No, it's basically the same in Sweden. It just seems they're not as efficient as their American counterparts. Probably because we have crappier politicians.
-
I hope you paid 50% tax on that!!

Poll suggests 1 in 5 Americans cannot make simple factual assessments

That is how all wars are started. -
Geez, could you link me to the Paypal option or something? I'm trying to pre-order Fallout: New Vegas and I'm only getting the "other alternatives"! There is no Paypal option, only Alertpay, Moneybookers, Paysafe and Gift certificates. Same with Mafia 2, Just Cause 2 etc.

Yeah.. and the publishers are providing these games out of the goodness of their hearts. Don't be naive. Or maybe they make a game, cut out a piece from it and sell it later to increase the revenue stream. Some 'DLC' is already on the retail game disc and the only code people are downloading is an unlock to be able to use that piece of software that was locked from them on the disc they already bought. Happens all the time.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

I just bought two games I already own off of Steam: Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl and Stalker: Call of Pripyat. They are on 75% sale and I am weak. -
OK, it's been several hours already and virtual D&D mkreku hasn't attacked virtual D&D Purkake yet. I am very disappointed.

I'm not sure, but I kind of remember hitting the high seventies at one point in the game. After a while, you will never have to worry about combat again. That's the biggest problem with all open-world games; they have to make them balanced for the ones who just want to do the main story quests which most often makes then way too easy for us who like to just wander and explore. Oblivion tried to fix the problem using level scaling.. we all know how that worked out.

Thanks, Nathaniel & C2B.

Just to put things in perspective: An ordinary cell phone of today has the same amount of RAM (or more) as the consoles they are trying to cram this game onto. An ordinary GPU (one, single part of a PC) has twice the amount of RAM as the consoles they are trying to cram this game onto. In fact, I would bet their artists are drawing these high resolution textures for everything they create, but they're having to downscale them heavily to fit into the restricted memory of the current-gen consoles. Sure, having the same art resources for all versions is probably a time saver, but it still feels like a waste not having a dedicated team handling the PC version. Scalability, people!

I wouldn't mind a modern graphics engine. And physics (like Silent Storm). -
CHARISMA 6?! WHAT THE.. wait.. no, that's probably right. Carry on.

Let me translate that for the ones not understanding what Jean-Eric is trying to convey here: "We're building a game that has to run as good on the lowest common denominator (ie. five year old, underpowered consoles) as it does on your Core i7, triple-SLI rig" I'm sorry but I'm not seeing how being held back by inferior console hardware is in any way good for us who like to pimp our PC's.

I thought it was kind of cool. It's a scene from the teaser, frozen in time. I just wish that the swirls around the clickable links (the bird etc.) had been more pronounced. I checked this out at work with no sound and I was just staring at that empty screen for a long time before I knew what to do. Make them glitter occasionally or something at least.

Only thing left to do is set fire to the place and get on a plane in the middle of the night.
