I'm anti-American-foreign-politics myself. I have lots of american friends who I can discuss this subject with maturely and calmly. But whenever I try to discuss american politics on this board, it immediately drops to the level of name-calling and right wing extremist views. It's like every little piece of criticism against the US is a personal assault on every right wing American who reads it. In EnderWiggin's case I can understand it, since he's the biggest Bush fanboy I've ever met, but why does everyone else get so worked up? Being over-nationalistic and under-informed is a very dangerous combination.

Right. Because you stated your opinions without a single source of information it must mean he batted 1-15. Why should he try again? He has several articles full of sources, you have a crappy, Bush fanboy post on a nerd board. Hmm.. Which to believe.. "Seriously, I'm not a Bush lackey. I just hate the propogation of lies. And in response to Mkreku's political cartoon, the 9/11 comission didn't say there was no connection between Iraq and Al Quaeda. The 9/11 comission said the Saddam didn't have a direct hand in 9/11 itself. And that's standard for Al Quaeda, where few people know anything that's going on. Saddam did however cooperate on weapons programs with Al Quaeda, and help fund in them in past endeavors. So, if you're going to claim they weren't inked at all, I'd take that is either your uninformed, you refuse to accept facts in front of you, or you're lying." Not a Bush lackey? Liar. Where are your sources? Have none? (as usual) Liar. I don't trust a word you say. Sorry.

I thought this one was kind of funny..

...BUSH SIGNS MCCAIN-FEINGOLD INTO LAW "[T]his bill improves the current system of financing for Federal campaigns, and therefore I have signed it into law." http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20...3/20020327.html BUSH OPPOSES MCCAIN-FEINGOLD... "George W. Bush opposes McCain-Feingold...as an infringement on free expression." http://www.mailtribune.com/archive/2000/march/032900n9.htm There are the sources. So which direction are you going to slither in now?
-
Ok, just to shut you up, taks, the source of those quotes are from here: http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.as...JRJ8OVF&b=42263 If you read that article, you'll notice that EVERY quote from Bush (or anyone else used) does have a source. But you're so stuck on your view you're going to call CNN, Washington Post, www.whitehouse.gov and the rest of the sources "liberal websites" and still not accept it as proof.

Right, just like you then? You claim and claim but never back anything up, except with one guy (David T Hardy). You should keep your right wing extremist opinions to yourself.

Russia lost 20 million people and you still claim American won WW2? Everyone knows the russians fought 70% of Hitler's entire german army. Kursk was the single biggest battle in the entire war. Stalingrad was were the most ferocious of all battles played out (despite what american filmmakers claim), and yet the russians reached Berlin first. If Hitler had put more men in the western front the allies would have been slaughtered. With only 20% defending the west coast it was still a very close battle. Read more and educate yourself. Perhaps here? Two quotes from www.2worldwar2.com: "After the battle of kursk, the war in the eastern front was a long russian advance, in which the russian army returned to all the territory it lost to the germans, conquered all of eastern europe, and reached all the way to germany and to Berlin and won the war. The germans could no longer attack or stop the russian advance, and were just pushed back in a long retreat." "D-Day June 6, 1944 - After months and years of fighting and preparations, the western allies were finally ready for their decisive move of invading western europe in order to occupy germany from west to match the russian advance from the east. D-Day, the invasion of France, did not change the outcome of the war, as germany was already losing it, but it marked the long awaited beginning of the last chapter of the war. The war ended a year after D-Day." I wonder what your history "books" are called? Saving Private Ryan?

You have got to be kidding me. You can not be this naive, can you? Iraq is sitting on the world's second largest oil reserve, the Bush administration gets millions of dollars from oil companies every year, the USA are the largest oil consumers (and world polluters) and you're trying to tell us "Congress has no desire to nation build"? I won't bother with links since you don't bother to read them, but history has only shown that USA always chooses USA-friendly governments and don't care about the people of the nation and what they want. Pinochet/Allende anyone? Saying "history has shown those governments had their own agenda" is either an outright lie or a show of absolute ignorance. You must be one of those americans so full of themselves that you actually believe the bullsh!t about people hating America because they're jealous. I've tried to explain to you before that it's the history of american foreign politics that makes the world despise America, but it's like throwing pearls down the toilet. It doesn't work, you're still full of sh!t.
-
You seriously need to stop watching the Fox News.. You know, the same channel that broadcasted pictures of cheering Iraqis just after 9/11..? Those pictures were later discovered as taken years before, related to something entirely different.
-
Uhm.. then throw your hands in the air, because you and your right wing extremist friend David T. Hardy (who wrote both your links) are not likely to convince me that Moore is a liar. Well, since your version of "responsible journalism" is one right wing extremist guy writing articles from his basement, then no, you probably shouldn't listen to my version of responsible journalism. I mean, what is Noam Chomsky compared to David T. Hardy?
-
Yes, I have watched Bowling For Columbine. Could you please point out to me where in that movie Moore says "Americans with guns are bad." because I can't find it? And you say he lies about statues and documents and what not. I didn't see that either. My version of the movie was subtitled, and there was NO indication that he was quoting the plaque on the statues. To me it appeared that he read some of what was said on them and then added his own opinion to it. If that's a lie to you, then you claiming Moore said "Americans with guns are bad." is a lie to me. Fortunately I understand that that quote is your interpretation of what Moore says, and if you're clever (which I assume you are) then you should be able to look past minor errors like that in Moore's movie too and see the big picture.
-
Well, that's how I feel about Moore. You get hung up about his facts not being entirely correct. Unfortunately, statistics can be bent however you like and therefore there are no hard facts that can't be opposed. Especially those numbers about how many people have been killed by guns and such.. Moore is merely asking people to look at the big picture. More guns = more gun related killings. The numbers should be seen as an approximation since noone knows for sure the exact number. All we know is that the USA has a lot more of those killings than any other country in the world. His critics claim his numbers are false and that he's therefore a liar.. Sigh. That's like dismissing an entire article because of a typo.

Well, as with anything else, I wouldn't trust those two homemade links you provided. What's to say they're more truthful than Moore? And you (together with a number of people) accuse www.FAIR.org to be editorial? A direct quote from one of your (rather amateurish) sites: "It would be easy to denounce Moore as a hypocrite. Many conservatives denounce him as a leftist, when in fact the serious left, the thinking left, generally finds him appalling. He is, in short, the latest in the modern breed of Limosine Leftists -- individuals who, while personally they share the values of 19th century robber barons, find it flattering to adopt a thin (and personally meaningless) veneer of leftism as a pose, in the same manner they pick a flattering hair style or gown. (A left-leaning critic of Moore summed up the situation very nicely: Moore's appeal lies in his giving wealthy, over-educated, whites an opportunity to laugh at working-class whites.)" Now if that isn't editorial.. (besides.. there's not one single source in the text). The quote was taken from www.mooreexposed.com, whis is run by ONE guy named David T. Hardy. Actually, now that I look it up, both your sites are made by that one same man! THIS is the true homepage behind those two links you provided. And you choose to trust this one, right wing extremist more than you trust Moore? It's your choice. I do find it funny though that you find FAIR.org editorial but you choose to trust this guy.. Also, got to love the fact one of your links above provided a link to this site: If you hate America or Israel then YOU are the enemy. Great stuff. Really.

I hate when people refer to the main villain as "end boss"..

What type of Star Wars fan are you?
mkreku replied to Paladin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I should probably go and watch the movies at least, huh? I did see some of the old ones, don't remember which.. must have been 10 years ago or something. I'm here because of the Obsidian crew, not because of Star Wars. -
Yeah, it will probably snow in hell before an american spends money on something educational. You go watch Spiderman 2 instead..

Now THAT was weird. The world's best national football team lost to Greece?! Ok, I've seen Greece play and they have great defenders, but how in the hell did they manage to score one on France? It's going to be somewhat.. uhm.. unexciting semi-finals this year. Greece and Portugal so far. And probably Holland tomorrow (unfortunately, since I'm swedish..). Let's hope the finals will be between Portugal and Holland at least, since those teams are playing the most entertaining football right now. I'm hoping Denmark beats the Czech Republic, but the Czechs looks really strong.

I hate it when I get yet another game in the mail that consist of 4-5-6 cd's. I was so happy when I got Far Cry and UT2004 on DVD. No more cd swapping! And I think DVD players are faster than CD players. If I remember correctly a 1x CD-rom reads 150kb/s, thus a 52x CD-rom reads 7800kb/s (at most). A DVD-rom running in 8x reads 11Mb/s, and a 16x DVD 22Mb/s.

TeamXbox Interview with Producer and Lead Designer

p****? Vagina? -
Random evil guy, could you please stop filling my thread with idiotic nonsense? Start a thread about bashing american sports if that's what interests you, but leave this thread to football. England leads Portugal 1-0 at the time of writing this. Unfortunately Wayne Rooney was injured early in the match so England will have to find a way to win without the wonderkid. Looks good so far and Owen has been great so far. Easily his best game of the tournament and he's got 45 minutes left to play..
-
Well, the italian team played three games and won only one. And that was the last game against Bulgaria. Of course, both Sweden and Denmark also won one each, but had better goal difference than Italy. The Italians just need to stop whining and start winning their games and they'll be alright. Oh, and they have to stop spitting on their opponents too..

It's always a matter of choosing who to believe, no matter how many sources you can come up with. If you read more about FAIR, you'll see that it's a network of journalists, a collective, giving their views on common day news. It's not "some guy" updating an anti-american site. And when people like Noam Chomsky and Susan Faludi supports that organization I do feel they have some credibility. (As a side note: I've been to a lecture held by Noam Chomsky once. It was awesome!) But I do read lots of other media sites every day. I use CNN for updates of the breaking news, I use Fox News when I need comedy and so on. You claim to have found "many facts" on FAIR to be "misleading, revisionistic and ommisive", but you're not giving me any examples or any articles supporting what you believe is right. Another interesting article: http://www.fair.org/activism/cnn-aljazeera.html

Quite useless discussing this with someone so far off the point. But I'll clarify one thing (so you'll understand how much crap your post contains): KotOR2 isn't death to creativity. Working for LucasArts is. (Or so I've heard..)
