  1. I'd love to see you defend this statement, the hillarity factor alone would make it worth while. Of course, you won't be able to with a single scientific paper that demonstrates an example of HGT between digested food DNA and those in our genome. But do try. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try? Sure. Everything we eat (except for water and some really nasty sorts of chemical candy) contains genes. Imagine that! Luckily our stomachs are excellent food processors that break down the genomes (and basically everything else too) in everything we eat, regardless if it is genetically altered or not. We simply lack the ability to absorb genetic code through our digesting system. That is why genetically altered foods aren't more harmful to our human system than food created by nature. And being afraid of genetics is like being afraid of poodles. Why? Because poodles are the result of genetic experimentation. The only difference is that it has taken several thousand years to turn a wolf into.. whatever poodles are, and we're used to the end result by now. This might burst your reality bubble, but most of the dogs you see around you weren't a creation of god. They're a creation of man. Some dogs wouldn't even survive if it weren't for humans (bulldogs for example). Hope it was "hillarious" enough for you.
  2. I believe genetics and genetically altered food is the future. In nature the plants and animals have to take a lot of stuff under consideration for them to function properly. Those functions are not necessary when they're being farmed/breeded. The only problem I see is that we have to be extremely careful not to let our genetics run rampant in nature. Test them for a couple of years, make sure they are risk-free and then let people use them. I'm not at all afraid of eating genetically altered foods. We can't be affected by the genes in our food. Otherwise we'd all be cows or chickens by now..
  3. I was thinking about Indiana Jones myself.. Don't know why really.
  4. Well, I recently posted a thread with two links. One with a very bitter american living in one of the northern states and one where some american posted a picture saying "We're sorry". Oh, Screw it, I'll post it again and hope it won't be removed. Again. Here it is: http://www.sorryeverybody.com/ Well, apparently I wasn't the only one who thought it was slightly touching because today I found this: http://www.apologiesaccepted.com/ I love it!
  5. Well, if they really are man-made ruins, I'd like to know what they're doing 1500 m. below the surface. I don't really care if it's Atlantis or not, I just want to know how they ended up down there.
  6. You bought a VW Golf? (That's what it's called in Europe) I used to own a VW Golf. It was from 1974, the very first model of Golf that was ever manufactured. To make the trade from an Audi to VW is kind of.. awkward.. here in Sweden at least. That's like switching in your 20" TFT monitor for a 21" CRT.. or something. I do know how well the Golf handles on the road though. It's almost like driving a very heavy go-cart. The Haldex system is a swedish invention by the way..
  7. My girlfriend beats me in every Dance Dance Revolution type game (where you have to hit the right button at the right time in a rhythm) and platformers. Other than that I dominate her
  8. Well, when I finally got the chance to play Daikatana it turned out to be quite an enjoyable little game. Nothing very special, but it had great AI, lots of variety between the levels and some pretty cool features. And I'm sure D.W. Bradley hasn't been posting "Bradley's gonna make you his bitch"-ads everywhere either..
  9. I don't really need extra content (although it would be nice and sort of fair since PC-users always get treated like second rate citizens) but I sure hope the two versions aren't exactly the same. The PC has a mouse and a keyboard. USE THEM. We're not confined by the awful Xbox-controller! Let us be free!! [/drama]
  10. Love it when people go, "Yeah, I do a lot of different sports, but mainly fencing, golf and curling!". I practice full-contact chess myself..
  11. I have a friend who used to walk other people's dogs for a living (while we went to school). One time, he was walking a Grand Danois during winter and where I come from the snow gets very deep during winter. Anyway, he went out into the snow, fell over and couldn't get up. So he yelled for the Grand Danois to come and help him, but instead the stupid dog ran over to him and started "humping" him from behind. He later said it was the most humiliating ten minutes of his life. Personally, I don't think I would have told anyone..
  12. The only amateur 3D-modeller I know of that's gotten a job from having his work posted on the internet is a french guy who made new models for System Shock 2. He is working as a modeller for Arx Fatalis 2 right now (a Source-powered game). You can see his work here: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/etienne.aubert/ssh...ock_rebirth.htm And, just to make this thread even more difficult to load, I'll add one of the pictures showing one of his best models..
  13. Yes, lots of good games indeed. But how many of them are RPG's?
  14. Dreamcatcher released a new Dungeon Lords movie today (30 MB). It can be found here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_7468.shtml The movie shows a series of different battles in different locations. It looked strangely "twitchy" though, like if you play a game and get low frames per second.. It most definitely is an action RPG, but it sure as hell doesn't look as dull as Diablo or Dungeon Siege.
  15. Actually, that's the good way to do it. The bad way would be to start making out first and ask the question later..
  16. Someone at CNN must dislike Bush..
  17. My girlfriend plays Kingdom Hearts when she has time.. My mom plays every adventure game that's released.. Strangely enough I've never had any female gamer friends myself. They must be skittish creatures.
  18. I am sure the reason for there not being a PS2-version isn't because of the limitations of the PS2 hardware. The graphics in KotOR weren't anything fantastic and it sure as hell didn't look like something the PS2 couldn't handle. In any case, programmers can scale down graphics to make it suit almost any system. Also, the savegames could probably be made small enough to fit onto a memory card, if they utilized savepoints. I mean. the PS2 has lots of RPG's that you can save in, so that's probably not the reason either. My guess is that the Billy Gates-box has bought some exclusivity rights for Bioware games. Or maybe it's much more difficult to translate the game-engine to the PS2 than to the PC or Xbox. Something simple like that.
  19. Well, Bush's foreign politics are horrible. They're creating a lot of anger and hatred around the world. I can't speak for his domestic politics since I haven't experienced it first hand. But this chart might explain that frontpage (somewhat): http://217.160.163.211/globalvote2004/ Check out the numbers for Europe..
  20. I thought this was rather funny.. And somewhat true. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW This picture was rather funny too.. I thought. British humour. Source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/frontpages/
  21. Could you back these statements up with some facts? Some kind of link where I, too, can read about how the average european has the same amount of money as someone below the "poverty line" in the US. I'm from Sweden and I've been to the US. I bought a 30 day Greyhound pass and went all over the eastern USA. I have been to 16 countries in Europe, and I sure as hell don't feel like the "quality of life is MUCH higher" in USA than in Europe. Perhaps in countries like Romania, but not compared to England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, all of Scandinavia and so on. Compared to Sweden, for example, USA basically sucked in my opinion (simple stuff like road signs, quality of roads, quality of public transportation, food quality, hotel quality, toilet/shower quality etc.). I do, however, love the american mentality. People seemed to be extremely friendly, generous and open-minded when it came to foreigners ("You have a place to stay? You can crash at my place.." - said by a university student in Austin, Texas after five minutes of talking in a public park). Unlike Sweden where people are considered cold and difficult to get to know..
  22. 4 more years of Bush foreign politics? Americans shouldn't be allowed to vote.
  23. Thank you, Akari, for at least trying to give the PC-version a proper mouselook this time. I hope it makes it in!
  24. Go Nader!
