Morrowind and Wasteland uses different systems like this. In Morrowind it was very easily abused, making people get superstrong characters in no-time and horribly unbalancing the game. The Wasteland system though.. If someone could take a look at that and make a modern version of it, I'd love it. That system rocked.

Great. I had to think really hard to figure that one out. And NOW MY HEAD HURTS!! Thanks a lot, Darque!

In the record industry, when you sell a certain amount of records (based on a percentage of the total population of your country) your record goes gold. I think he confused the computer term "go gold" (when the game is done and finished it's sent to printing on a gold CD, or at least it used to be) with the record companies expression.

I don't think anyone is bragging about being aggressive, at least not where I come from. I have a short temper in real life and when I get drunk I tend to get into situations where fists start flying. It's a very embarrassing "curse" of mine, especially since I can no longer blame it on youth. Also, no matter if you win or lose, you always get some embarrassing bruises or scars to show for it. A few weeks ago I had to walk around with a blue lower lip for a few days.. Not very nice when you have to go to a job interview the same week.

I often end up in fights in real life, if that tells you anything..

How many people are working on the PC version? Will you have time for some bonus material for the PC version? Are you redoing the interface for the PC version, to take advantage of the mighty mouse controls?

It's actually more impressive than how he described it. He forgot to mention: Cycling skill (complete with cycling races) Triathlon (once you have high enough stamina and cycling skill you can go to one of the gyms and compete in a triathlon that takes you all over the state!) Finding graffiti and photo views. Mutltiplayer rampage. Billiards! (in bars you can actually play a working game of billiards) Basketball (you can play basketball if you find a court) Shooting contests (most larger Ammu-nations have shooting contests you can participate in) Parachuting (you can jump from planes and slowly glide to the ground..) Pimp My Ride (you can pimp your own car with nitro, hydrualics, different wheels, colours etc.) Casino (Black Jack, One-Armed Bandits, Wheel of Fortune etc. and you even have a gambling skill to develop) Delivery missions (find hidden shops you can do missions for and earn lots of money from) Radio-controlled models (fly model airplanes, helicopters, drive cars etc.) Gyms (where you can fight for new skills or just train your strength/stamina) Export/Import missions (you steal a variety of cars and you can export them for money, and then import other cars) Gang Wars (command and conquer new gang territories, fight other gangs, defend your own territories) There's more but I'm out of time

Everytime I use an autopatcher this happens: I start the download, my neighbours cat strolls in through an open window and trips over my network cable (or some similar strange incident happens). The download is interrupted, but the game tries to install the patch anyhow. Strangely enough it succeeds, but the game doesn't work. I try the autopatcher again, but it doesn't work either because it thinks the game is already fully updated. All that's left is to do is utter an obscene amount of curse words and reinstall the entire package. I really prefer manual patches. Ps. Yes, I've tried closing the window, but the cat's name is Houdini.

You think we PC-owners have it bad?? Then think about the poor Xbox owners who have to endure Bill Gates personally coming down to spank them and steal their wallets every once in a while. Or so I've heard..

According to this logic, I could say you hate homosexual people. Why? Because you've never mentioned your support for them. You know nothing about what I think about Saddam, because that has never been the point of debate. Unless you can find posts where I do support him? I think not. The reports I've linked to clearly indicates there are no weapons or any facilities to create such weapons. No matter how many times you say they are there. But the discussion is pointless, because it's like trying to prove Santa Claus doesn't exist. It's impossible to prove beyond doubt that something doesn't exist, and you've clearly fallen for the war propaganda, so no matter how many people say they haven't found any weapons, you simply will not believe them. Ps. A link to where you found that Saddam financially supported "terrorists"? My links show that no ties were found between Al Qaida and Saddam, but maybe you have some other info? -
If the developers managed to find the time to post regularly while working on the Xbox-version, I am sure they can find the time to write a simple post every now and then while working on the PC-version. It would be nice to hear details about what they're working on, like if it is bug fixes, if they're implementing new stuff, if they're trying to make it more mouse-friendly (mouse-driven interface, free mouselook, et cetera) and stuff like that. Of course, they don't have to, but.. As I said, it would be nice.

Thanks for the advice, fellow scandinavian (well, almost!), but I'm not really affected by the popular opinion on an internet board. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if people on this board thinks I'm a jerk, then so be it. Also, I'm not very interested in "winning" an argument (if that's even possible) nor am I searching for sympathy. I'm just trying to set the facts straight, even though I understand the futility in doing so among the worst Bush fanboi's of this board. -

You're back-pedaling like a madman with statements like "They didn't find stockpiles of WMD's? Well, I only said they didn't have WMD's. Never used the word stockpiles! No, siree!". You haven't quoted a single fact in this thread, yet you claim to quote facts while I "editorialize". Check the links. They are there in their original form. I gave sources, unlike you. Now, since you accuse me of defending Saddam.. Please show me at least one post of mine where I defend Saddam. I am 100% sure that has never happened and I would appreciate it if you kept to facts instead of lying when discussing with me. Strong claims. Now please back them up with some facts. I've never said any of the things you claim above. The only thing I've done from the list above is quote Michael Moore from Bowling For Columbine about the wars in the 20'th century. Are you perhaps lying about this? We'll see. -

Uhm.. Exactly what did you find then..? If you found ONE weapon of mass destruction, is that enough to start a war? Ridiculous, the lengths you go to just to avoid having to admit you're wrong. Hans Blix said there were no WMD's in Iraq. The american weapons inspector said there were none. What else do you want? You're basically saying that you're right because you didn't use the word "stockpile". Great argument. "No Iraq WMDs Made After '91" is also a quote from one of my sources. They did not produce any new WMD's, nor did they have the capacity or facilities to do so. Perhaps they found some insignificant left overs from before 91, who knows and who cares, that was never the point. Bush claimed Saddam had enough WMD's to threaten world peace. He was wrong about the WMD's and it's still an outright lie to claim Saddam could threaten world peace. "Saddam Hussein still has chemical and biological weapons and is increasing his capabilities to make more." - President Bush, in October 2002 speech Funny how some careful "stick my head up my behind so deep I can't see the truth" can tell a vastly different story. You know, it's easy to find quotes from what you said back then, although I'm way too lazy right now. Guess I'll have to dig them up though since you're so childishly stubborn about this. -
I voted both. Why not release it on more platforms (if it is possible)? More platforms = more sales = more money for Obsidian = fatter Urquhart = slower coffee-fetching = irritated programmers = uhm.. more and better games. Ok, my chain of thought might be a bit broken but you get the idea.
-
Yes, because everytime you make a post on the Obsidian board, one of your workdays just disappears. That's so dumb it's not even funny. A post every once in a while would mean they actually read this forum and perhaps even care about the PC owners/international Xbox-users. Who knows if they're working on getting the PC version ready? They haven't told us that. For all we know, it might have been finished by the time the Xbox-version was ready. A little communication never hurt anyone.
-
I don't know if I'm supposed to be impressed or horrified. Probably both.
-
Would it be possible to implement other types of "rings" like the black and white rings developers get when they post in a thread? The reason I'm asking is because of people like J.E. Sawyer (and other game developers or interesting people that aren't a part of Obsidian Entertainment's staff) easily get lost among the spam on this board. It would be neat if there was an easy and obvious way of finding their posts too within a thread. Or at least know which threads they've participated in. Perhaps a VIP ring? (make it pink and flowery so they don't get too big-headed though).

Last time I went to the library there was this very bearded man with thick glasses sitting at the check out desk. When I gave my books to him he pointed at a picture on his computer screen of a car stuffed with model airplanes and said, " Wow, that guy sure is a good packer!". I have no idea what that means.
-
Developers! Anyone notice the total absence of those black/white rings that shows a developer has posted in a thread in the PC part of the forum? Not one developer has posted anything in here! Not even once! Does this tell us something about how serious they are about the PC version? Does it tell us about the amount of interest they have in the PC community? Does it tell us anything about how valuable the PC owners are to Obsidian? Does it tell us anything about which market Obsidian is aiming for? Does it tell us anything about the real reason the international Xbox and PC versions were not pushed forward? Developers: I find your lack of posts disturbing.

"Faced with a harshly critical new report, President George W. Bush conceded Thursday that Iraq did not have the stockpiles of banned weapons he had warned of before the invasion last year, but insisted that "we were right to take action" against Saddam Hussein." Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/16/...ain643989.shtml "Saddam Hussein did not possess stockpiles of illicit weapons at the time of the U.S. invasion in March 2003 and had not begun any program to produce them, a CIA report concludes." Source: http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/06/iraq.wmd.report/ "U.S. officials also said the report shows Saddam was much farther away from a nuclear weapons program in 2003 than he was between 1991 and 1993; there is no evidence that Iraq and Al Qaeda exchanged weapons; and there is no evidence that Al Qaeda and Iraq shared information, technology or personnel in developing weapons." Source: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134625,00.html There were no weapons of mass destruction, there was no link to Al Qaida, there was nothing but a bunch of propaganda and a personal vendetta from a war-mongering president. Hans Blix was right. President Bush was wrong. Why is this so hard to grasp for some Bush fanboi's? "Even after the final report of Charles Duelfer to Congress saying that Iraq did not have a significant WMD program, 72% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq had actual WMD (47%) or a major program for developing them (25%). Fifty-six percent assume that most experts believe Iraq had actual WMD and 57% also assume, incorrectly, that Duelfer concluded Iraq had at least a major WMD program. Kerry supporters hold opposite beliefs on all these points." Source: http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Pres_Ele...w_10_21_04.html Unless you, EnderWiggin, has actually found those WMD's personally in Iraq, I think you'll be having a hard time finding anyone but rabid Bush fanboi's who agree with you on this matter. -
That's a good laptop. Only thing I would change is Windows XP Home to Windows XP Pro, but that's it.
-
Yeah, that might be true. What's also true is that mighty Bill Gates once predicted that PC's would never need more than 640KB RAM and therefore designed his world dominating OS after that prediction. That's only been annoying and development stopping until Windows XP came out a couple of years ago.. I'm not so sure about this bandwidth thing either. I've read it's become a bottle-neck already..

Nice try, Mr. Product, but you might as well give up hope on this one. Bush himself could come up to this guy and ram a note saying "We did not find anything!!" up his arse and he still wouldn't get it. He's blinded by some weird sort of patriotism that makes even the most obvious point invisible to him. -
Updated with Yahoo Games' review of KotOR2. Nothing really new is being said in the review, except that the author claims that the sequel has less humour than the first part..? Is this true? I was under the impression that Sith Lords had more humour, not less. I honestly can't remember much humour in the first part at all.
