Have people been expecting too much out of KOTOR2?
mkreku replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are no swoop upgrades? I clearly remember someone at Obsidian saying there would be swoop upgrades this time around.. -
All I want is to be able to play a game with a setting like in the game Wasteland.. Is that too much to ask?!
-
I don't believe there will be bonus material. The timeline we were given to finish the PC version is pretty short and does not include time for making changes to the interface other than fixing any bugs QA finds. -Akari <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I don't understand why people are complaining about long loading times.. I don't think they ever exceeded 30 seconds for me. I installed the game on a 250GB SATA Hitachi HD and I had the same loading times in HL2 as in Bloodlines.

ANNOUNCEMENT:Referring To Bug Fixs In K2!
mkreku replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, getting a Special Edition for free might be a bit unrealistic. It would be fair, but I have a hard time believing it would happen. Perhaps they'd make a deal that if you have the original version, you'd get a 75% price reduction (or something like that)? It just sounds more.. realistic I'm glad I'm a european PC user though! -
I'm swedish but I think America (or actually The United States of America) is one of (if not the) finest countries in the world. You have the Rocky Mountains, the Mississippi, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Graceland (Elvis!), Hawaii, Spring Breaks, Aspen (skiing!), the NHL (hockey!), the best environmental laws (in California), some states who have signed the Kyoto agreement (yay!), great architecture (towers, bridges, skyscrapers), some of the best scientists in the world, 2005 Ford GT40 (drool..), some of the best athletes, some of the best music, most of the best movies, some of the best scientists (just look at the amount of Nobel prizes going to the USA every year), some of the best universities, the funniest rednecks, NASA, Las Vegas, a multicultural society, Michael Moore (so shoot me, I like him), lots of great authors and so on and so on. About the only thing I dislike about USA is Bush, USA's foreign politics and american beer. But I'm swedish so I don't count..

Apparently the Geforce 6600 GT is as strong as a Radeon 9800 Pro, but availible at a lower price (I read in a swedish hardware magazine today). If it's true, then I'd suggest you buy that one!

Oohh, Grim Fandango is a real masterpiece..

I was taking the review seriously until I read this. You want every equippable items to be of use? So you mean, someone who wants to roleplay an unarmed character shouldn't get any loot at all and those who wants to use twohanded weapons should.. uh.. wait, this logic sucks. OF COURSE there has to be items that are of no worth to you. How pathetic would the game be if everytime you found something new, it was better than what you already have?! Good eq should be rare, and there should be options for every playing style known to man. Your statement is just ridiculous.

That depends. Are you the one who comes up with all those lame movie one-liners? "I'll be back!"

Haha, that happened to me in the game Prince of Qin a long time ago! I had come half-way through the game and suddenly it just stopped. Noone said anything new, no new areas opened up, I had killed every foe I could find and there were no clues to what I should do. I don't remember how many hours I walked in that limbo before I finally decided a game-stopping bug must have attacked me and won. Years later I read a walkthrough of the game on the net, and it turned out that you had to find this tiny, little cave out in nowhere to be able to continue. Annoying!

Both Wasteland and Final Fantasy came out in 1987, but I have no idea which game was first. I don't know any "learn by doing"-games before that.

Added UGO's review, even though I didn't understand their score (and consequently didn't add it to the total). "It's rare that a game makes you question your own morals and ideals, but this game actually does it. I have to give some major credit to Obsidian for actually accomplishing this in a morally open-ended game." I liked the above-quoted bit

Ex-CIA officer alleges agency retaliated...
mkreku replied to Product of the Cosmos's topic in Way Off-Topic
And perhaps people who sit around getting fat in their own, rich countries should just keep their mouths shut (and stop their fingers from typing) about things they could not possibly know anything about? No matter if Langky got all the facts right, he can at least give a different perspective on things that I am sure not many others on this board could. Ps. How about shortening that signature of yours a bit, Karzak? Rather annoying.. -
Alienware is no different than any other company, they have there budget, midrange and top of the line PCs. Pre configured ALX area 51 7700 is almost 7000.00, seems a little steep. Preconfigured Dell XPS 4500.00 and the specs are close, not exact but close. So where does all the extra cash go? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not always easy to see the difference between two brands when they have almost the exact same specs. But I can imagine Alienware using top of the line brands instead of the cheapest availible. For example, a Powercolor Radeon 9800 Pro won't perform as well as an ABIT Radeon 9800 Pro, even though they have the exact same specs. Why? In the case I mentioned it's because of different memory quality. ABIT buys expensive components for their GPU's while Powercolor buys the cheapest possible. Perhaps Alienware uses expensive memory brands, expensive GPU brands and expensive motherboards and hd's?

Added Telefragged's review now. Got to love this quote from the review: "You'll wake up with amnesia - yes, this handy old Bioware-favorite plot element comes back - and must piece together what's happened not only in the days leading up to your predicament near the planet of Peragus, but in the five or so years since the events of the first game." The amnesia curse strikes back

If you see a pink ring next to a thread, you click once on the ring and the board takes you immediately to whichever special person made the post. If someone thinks separating two differently coloured rings is difficult and that it will be too confusing, I only have one advice to give them: get a new brain, because yours doesn't work!

Uhm.. I am aware of the search function, but that doesn't exactly fulfill my lazy needs. I guess I'll have to quote myself and hope this makes my request a little clearer.

To tell you the truth, I'm not so fond of the 5200, but someone on this board said he used it and that it ran Half-Life 2 just fine. It should work. I would recommend a "higher number" card (5600, 5700 and above) but they are much more expensive and I'm not sure how much better they are in a laptop.

He's an excellent striker and I think he deserved it this year. Although, you guys should watch out for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a few years.. He'll definitely be a contender for the Golden Ball in the future (Go Sweden! )

This thread has become sickeningly friendly! Go back to flaming, please!!

Why does it suck? In Sweden security guards aren't allowed to carry weapons (only the police and the military are) so everytime I see a security guard, I get this ridiculous urge to up and punch him in the face just to see how he reacts. Especially since some of them are forced to wear these army-looking uniforms.. (I'm a sick puppy). Does that happen to you?

Ahem.. I'd better get my skinny, white, relatively rich, constantly safe, overly whiny behind out of this thread.. Good post, Langky. -
The embarrassing thing is that I think LucasArts themself handles the music and sounds in the game.. I hope I'm wrong though, because everyone says the music is the best part of the game

Found another one: http://xbox.about.com/od/reviews/fr/kotorIIrev.htm (Score: 4.5/5) I haven't added it to the bunch yet though, because frankly I think the review sucks. "This game is even more glitchy than the first one, if you can believe that. You will fall through floors. You
