Eeeh, (even) I felt that C&C was the forte in Witcher 2, even if they obviously get a D- for those choices and their consequences carrying over from one installment to the next, for the moment (and AFAIK they've said it's going to be the same again in 3?). While I'm quite looking forward to 3, I'm already pre-emptively turned off a bit by the free pass it will get on many flaws that the same people would enthusiastically call out in a game by a (certain) other studio...

I have to split more hairs here (in addition to the correction already done re: battlefield 3), but they didn't "license" frostbite, it's the engine EA is pushing on all their studios to use - which I'm surprised they haven't done before, as it then allows them to pour resources into making frostbite as good as possible, since they aren't attempting to recoup the costs with just a Battlefield every two years (I think they used some DICE tech in one of the Need for Speeds before, but that's all I've been aware of). Since the Swedes for once appear to know what they are doing, this seems like a good idea to me, especially if they've had the foresight to allow for necessary RPG systems without the reverse engineering Unreal needed for ME. I think the Mass Effect series had some pretty levels. I also remember Lehon/Rakata Prime being quite impressive back in the day. BG1 and 2 are awesome, and I think the level design in the latter as well. Most of their games have what I would call "inconspicuous" level design, as in it doesn't really raise much feelings in me either way. Not that I can remember ever anything else than bad level design (uncharted 3, I'm looking at you).

Haha, good way of bolstering my resolve after the kinect announcement yesterday had it wavering a bit.

SR2 was supposed to be unable to enter atmosphere given its great size. This is why all the missions drop you off in a shuttle. Of course I don't think Illium is ever explained and Mass Effect 3 completely forgets. No, even bigger ships than the Normandy can enter atmo, it's just the capital ships that can't. IIRC it was originally "it can't land", but looks like ME3 retconned it to "it's less agile". Mass Effect 3 had a dreadnought blow up in vancouver. No, it's a cruiser. They messed up in vo and made a big joke out of it later.

I've graduated from military clothing to disturbingly large knives. I think I need to move back to a major city asap.

I've been sneezing all day, and I have no idea why, either.

Bad dude, or just a really slow day for Elk Falls PD? Actually, that wasn't even the "local" boys, but a part of the 1337 national Special Operations Unit. :D Happened in a bigger place, too...

And when you constantly heckle in threads about games you (claim you) are not going to buy, I KNOW you're not getting any.

Client: "Could you help me with a little case I have..." Police report stars: "First responding patrols were 694, 605 and the duty TError/BOmb unit..." (TEBO, no relation to Tim)

If you have any boxes from when video games were still physical, stuff it in there. Yeah, safest place ever. I have all sorts of stuff hidden in my mac os deus ex box. :D Hating my life a little bit less than yesterday, but still ready to run away.

What would you suggest instead? I suggest we elect a less corrupt and overreaching one. I'm not saying it's a daft idea. But i don't think you're going to get that unless and until we stop people going into politics at a young age. Politicos are completely specialised, and entirely isolated in their little world. At least over here. It's no wonder they think they have all the answers when they think that only they understand the question. Since I can't "like" this more than once, I'm going to QFT it. Of course, in Finland, we have our professional politicos supplemented by reality tv "stars" and other random high school dropout entertainers who can't manage even their finances, never mind those of a country, but...

They did say that before DA2, too, and it certainly didn't have anything like that. Apparently MS and Sony vetoed it. Sure, due to the generation change, it might be different this time around... But I won't be holding my breath. Instead, I'll be grinding through DAO twice and enjoying DA2 twice.

Haha, as someone who's primary platform is PS3, I wholeheartedly disagree with you. As a rule the superior capabilities of the PS3 (disc space) were almost universally neglected (compressed video, identical disc usage with x360) and very few multiplatform games even attempted to take advantage of its structure (the only two I can remember were red alert 3 and dragon age origins).

Hey, at least we don't take a day off just to watch horse races Personally consider that the only valid reason for a day off.

First day back at work after my luxurious one week + one day summer holiday, during which the office only called me six times. Blood pressure's through the roof again and in general finding the countryside, the people and their petty problems (not petty as in not big enough for me... they're just petty) a colossal pain in the backside. Really feeling the salary hit I took starting here, and it's compounded by the heightened travel costs for weekend trips back home. F.

What would you suggest instead? TBH, I think he was thinking of a beacon of morality, like the administration before this one. It's just as funny, though.

You were the one who was supposed to take me to the bar full of tattooed economist chicks. That shouldn't be a problem for you. I've decided I can compromise a bit, tbh. They don't have to be tattooed.

There's also the fact that they keep calling the mage things Circles, when there hasn't been any evidence of them being circular. In effect, I believe that they should be referred to as "squares" in honour of some of the people in this thread. For ****'s sake!

Their maths is also off when they say that "All told, we came up with a total cost of only $629,974.69 for the contents (...) This means you'd be overpaying by about more than 50 percent of the actual value of the contents (...)" The amound you are overpaying though is $1,000,000 - $629,974.69 = $370,025.31 roughly 37% (which to the mathematically less inclined is less than 50% not "about more") Of course if VAT is on top of that, then it goes even higher and the "overpaying" goes even lower. not sure how much VAT would be but if, for simplicity's sake we'd go with something like 20% then we'd add 125,994.938. Then we'd pass the 750k mark and the overpaying would drop below 25%. The other thing I am not sure is how taxes for the pack itself go. Would VAT not in reality be paid twice? Once for the 1 mil paid by the customer purchasing the pack from Deep Silver and once for Deep Silver purchasing the stuff to provide in the pack? VAT differs from a US style sales tax (AFAIK) in that companies that have to collect VAT get to deduce the VAT they pay for what makes up their end product. So generally only consumers have to pay the full VAT and companies (and their pricing) often thus deal with VAT-less prices. Gross simplification etc. Re: cost of insuring, clearly you've never been a young man with a ludicrously powerful car.

Yes, since it's a consumer product being advertised within the EU (Game UK).
