  1. Another poor soul has been shown the light, all is well. My life now has meaning. Although I won't lie: I would very much appreciate better graphics, maybe a mod will do. Well, it was never a pretty game. I've found that using the 'fan-made' UT renderer at least kills most of the glitching. Not sure what the situation with the high-res texture packs is.
  2. I dunno, I've found it possible for people to be both at the same time.
  3. Lucky you. I've had Pinnacle station since day 1, and am still waiting for the 'fix to clear certification'. At least I didn't call customer support and get my box borked, like some poor souls. Score 1 for pc, 0 x360.
  4. The X360 version is also Securom free. But yeah, my pc gaming friends all picked up the Steam version for a less intrusive form of DRM.
  5. The only thing I can remember about that movie was the ultra-fake CGI helicopter in the end (that ruined the whole movie for me).
  6. I remember reading the walking without worries part, but not the Torment comment. I actually have that Torment part on a magazine, but I don't have a scanner nor camera. And it's in Finnish so you would have to trust my traslation I could attest it for you.
  7. Bull****. It warps the whole price structure of the business. But it's no surprise, criminals are able to create fantastic constructions to validate their crimes, it's particularly easy when it's 'victimless' like copyright violation (or you can rationalise it into being victimless, like our amigo did here).
  8. Shrug, the costs probably reflect the higher cost of production these days. Considering the kind of half-assed **** that got passed off as expansions back in the day, I'd say one is better off buying 5 chunks at 10 $ each, than risking something along the lines of those early Red Alert expansion packs etc.
  9. Well, the GoWs are getting a "remaster" for the PS3 later this year. and GoW3 is slated for march next year. Yeah. I've never played any of the GoWs (was an xbox/pc man in the last console gen), but I'm thinking I might pick the 'new' versions up later this year, to see what the fuss is about.
  10. You know what, I'm sure they'd comment if they could. Just starting new topics about isn't going to get an answer

  12. True, true. I do have the advantage of not connecting her with Aribeth, I never got more than ~10-15 hours into NWN (show-stopping bugs, hard-drive crashes and not feeling like chapter 1 all over again... and a general feeling of rather spending my time on something else, like Baldur's Gate 2 for the umpteenth time). More a fan of how Jennifer Hale portrays her than the way the character was written, would probably be a more accurate description. Jaheira's neat too, but the way her romance starts makes Bastila's turn to the dark side seem drawn out.
  13. MMh, I mostly agree with you. I think the thing that gets most people is that the roles are fairly similar, he has a fairly distinctive voice that he doesn't bother to even try to change between the two characters, and apparently a lot of people found the character superbly annoying in KOTOR. In a semi-related tangent, I always thought that Bastila is the best 'romanceable npc' Bioware's had in their games, and Jennifer Hale rocks. I'm also a sucker for showing Viconia the Light with my Paladins, but now I'm just totally digressing.
  14. They really are serious about as few people as possible getting to hear of this game, aren't they?
  15. A far better character then the Liara. QFT. Both of youse, in fact
  16. I hope bio will pull that through, but I believe it when I see it. Yeah, coz nothing screams 'mature' like gratuitous blood splattering and Marilyn Manson, right?
  17. Just out of curiosity, why don't you like Ashley? I personnally like her a lot more than Liara, I think Liara is boring. Because they tried to give Ashley a personality, unlike blue sex-toy Liara.
  18. Except the overhead camera only applies to the PC version.
  19. BROTHER! No, really, I actually read a story about different backgrounds/educations in the gaming business, and turns out (more or less) fed-up lawyers, wanting to do something constructive for a change, aren't all that rare. Maybe I still have some hope (but that's really a question for another subforum) I can see your work being more on the rewarding side, though, before coming back for my LL.D., I was a prosecutor - talk about a thankless unpleasant job (that admittedly paid really well for not having to work weekends)...
  20. The 360 has a bazillion different configs, including probably a gazillion different fans, so the differences in loudness between x360s are defnitely more than subjective. I have one of the new anti-rrod Jaspers, so my guess is that it has the fans cranked up to the max to try to keep the cooker as cool as possible. It's way louder than my laptop at full blow and the sound quality is very intrusive, too. I've never had a full-on gaming rig, so I can't compare, and all the ones I've heard in the past ~5 years have been designed as compromises between comfort (=silence) and performance, instead of going for balls-to-walls every last FPS.
  21. So you could be a rules lawyer? Ca-ching. Actually, I've found that engineers are a lot worse in rules lawyering than lawyers ever are. In fact, engineers are a lot worse, period. I can still remember prosecuting minor traffic offences against a couple of engineers, it's like being a Richard was a matter of principle to them.
  22. My x360 is noticeably louder when playing off the HD than my PS3 in any circumstances. It's loud to the point where I need to crank up the game volume from what I would normally use to drown out the console noise. I can't really decide which one is the better controller. The triggers are probably better on the X360, but I hate the battery box ridge on the bottom and prefer the dualshock 3's setup of having the left-side analog and d-pad the other way around. OTOH, the power-on button on the controller is WAY too sensitive on the dualshock 3. The trick to the PS3 is basically to have the triggers and bumpers reversed from the x360 setup. If I were forced to choose between the two, I'd probably go with the PS3 in the end, but it's probably just because I've used it a lot more (I've only had the x360 for 3 months, the PS3 for a year now).
