  1. Actually that's just the preorder bonuses. Hm, ok.
  2. Arnie 'The Terminator' is involved in censoring violent entertainment content. And they say irony is dead. I disapprove on sensorship, but approve on limiting minors' access to violent material. And yeah, you can have it that way, too. Unless it results in industry self-censorship to maximise profits (PG-13, anyone?) It would definitely make the bioware boards a lot more fun to visit, if all the <17 kids were gone. Also agree with the argument that there is a double standard in the US re sexual/violent imagery.
  3. I'm under 30 and have a collection of 45s in the hundreds...
  4. Frankly, with all the 'something must happen immediately every time you push a button' talk they are spewing (and never mind the new, 'improved', tactical cam), I think it's an insult to Mass Effect 2 to compare the new DA to it.
  5. Went to see the Finland vs. Sweden athletics yearly 'friendly' event with my dad. Had tons of fun, haven't seen him (a 70+ retired university professor) do the mexican wave before.
  6. And as a Dward Noble (just a different kingdom). And the Bann of Alienage as a City Elf. And probably something I'm forgetting. Still, it ain't much, but in the grand scope of things, not an issue to me. saying that the empty title "ain't much" is an understatement. hypothetical new feature for DA. the pc may find a deed in a chest... makes you owner o' The World. you literally own The World. 'course, +90% of npcs treat you the same whether you is owner or not, and there is no additional gameplay that becomes available if you becomes the world owner. dumbest feature evar? how is world owner different than how becoming king/queen is handled in DA? perhaps there is some minor appeal to vanity in being King that genuine made da a better game 'cause such a thing were added, but if it makes game better it does so in a very minor and uninspired manner. is not noteworthy or innovative. HA! Good Fun! I'm mostly replying to comment how I'm consistently shocked by the amount of typos I make in my posts.
  7. I'm going to side with Wrath on this aspect, at least in legal theory. Despite having a physical thing in your hands, you have not bought the rights to the property, only the right to use that property, and it's up to the owners of that intellectual property what they consider/want "use" to mean. Whether we think the decisions are "fair" or even rational, means nothing from a legal standpoint. And you definitely can't "resell the use-license", digital or otherwise. Consumer protection legislation forces some limits into what shrink-wrap licenses can do to limit the purchasers or 'licensers' rights. Not necessarily in the US, but games are still sold in other places, as well. This can lead to strange things, were physically distributed games and digitally distributed copies, while theoretically having the same end-user license, will be subject to a completely different set of rules (generally more favourable to the terms of the license in the case of digital downloads).
  8. This is a sentiment I share - and alluded to earlier this week. Not so much re: LoF, though.
  9. I can't remember any frame rate issues on the PS3 version, but the drawing distance was so bad that it would have been embarassing if there'd been any.
  10. I think length is overrated. On a more serious note, the time taken to complate a quest/expansion/DLC is not really a metric for how good it is, or even how much value one is getting for their money, in spite of a lot of people apparently imagining it is.
  11. And as a Dward Noble (just a different kingdom). And the Bann of Alienage as a City Elf. And probably something I'm forgetting. Still, it ain't much, but in the grand scope of things, not an issue to me. (Unlike the, say, lack of balance and failure in level design are.) I wasn't trying to put Bioware down I was just saying that I realise they aren't perfect. I agree completely though. Nope, but Volourn was already taking it that way. I know it happens basically every day here, but I occasionally want to draw attention to the ludicrousness of it.
  12. Ah yes, the Bio vs. Obsidian setup. The most fruitless discussion in the known world, as basically a game by either studio will still be better than a game by somebody else.
  13. + due to a particularity in the code, weapons always count their highest to hit modifier... So azure edge, which IIRC is +3/+6 vs. undead, always counts as +6 for overcoming wep res.
  14. Weren't the pre-DLC days great? I was under the impression that Trials was released because HoW was so small for the price, even Black Isle felt bad about it afterwards.
  15. They did get our war reparations. All of them. Nobody else paid theirs.
  16. Watch out, some conservatives might show up and start asking for their birth certificate! On this end, I woke up, and instead of going to work, I just sat on the sofa and played Mass Effect (1). I'm mildly worried, but not enough to actually do something about it. (p.s. anniversary of first date with ex. Remember absolutely every detail. Groan.)
  17. Q: What is the penalty for polygamy? A: Having more than one wife.
  18. No. Everybody else got special compensation (Marshall aid). We didn't. Even with the perfect vision of hindsight, I can't really say if there was an alternative to the post-Moscow Peace Treaty alliance with the Germans that still would have allowed us to maintain our independence. There were no good alternatives, and I believe most people were aware of it already back then. And re: insults. Read it the way you want, my assessment is that our opinions would continue to differ no matter how much effort I put into the discussion, so I won't put any.
  19. They must have played another Fallout 3. Mine didn't have superb storytelling at all. Mine was also lacking in 'intriguing characters' and 'wonderful'. I wonder if there's somthing wrong with me. I consider myself a lot less cynical than most of my fellow obsidianites, but I'm yet to play an open X world game that I feel would be worth even 10 % the hype...
  20. I understand the metaphor, it's just that your comment doesn't really make sense in the context. But I don't really have the time (or, in your particular case the inclination) to educate you on the finer details of WWII in the Nordic countries. Let's just say that there was very little choice involved.
  21. No, you shouldn't have - we were the ones who got the collateral damage from that op. You pick your bed and you sleep in it. ... what?
