RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

Yeah. the fact that it's xbox live/psn 1.99 $ casual platforming kind of makes it worse. -

I think it's more a question of hinting/leaving things intentionally open due to the trilogy structure. Not saying there aren't any plot holes, I'm notoriously bad at discovering them due to some psychological quirks, but I don't think what you and Virumor have mentioned so far qualify. -

There's a difference between 'glaring plot hole' and 'they did not hold my hand and explain everything in the universe to me'... -
IIRC I had a couple of (apparently) audio related crashes. Of course, I haven't played it that much. There are audio related crashes on the PS3? Only with Fallout 3. I'm sure they are here somewhere: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3#Technical_issues

I'd say that's the only valid reason I can think of. And by 'hard', I mean limited /200, where 187 albums were destroyed in a fire and the remaining ones are owned by an eccentric billionaire. Sometimes, there simply is no legal way to purchase something. (And before the weed-smokers rejoice, that is not really the point here) You misunderstand - it's not pirating something because you are unable to buy it. It's pirating something to see if you like it, because it's not worth throwing $20/album at a band's discography to see if you enjoy their music. Mainstream music gets enough exposure that people can generally know if they like a band or not before buying an album. Underground music does not. Not really, I understand my point was somewhat external to the discussion (as Hulrlshot's seemed to be).

Ah yes, the faceless, greedy corporations argument. The author might not get a large chunk of the price of his copyrighted work, but the last time I looked, it was still more than they got for the Pirate Bay version. I know a lot of one-man record companies (in fact, a large chunk of my whole music collection comes from these). Do these already count as faceless? Or is it just enough to operate as an LLC to qualify for the facelessness? I mean, I've always assumed that people like get paid for their work, so obviously they are by definition greedy...

That was mostly intentional on my part.

No, another of the games I have not played. The only comparison I can think of is Deus Ex, which indeed had lousy voice acting - and, yeah, I think Meer blows all of the talent in DX out of the water. I've always thought that it's just a question of him aiming for the 'calm, collected officer voice' that a lot of people go 'zomfg mark meer suxors, he's so, like, flat' over. But I have no idea what the particular argument for his putative suckiness here is... that he's not Jennifer Hale? That he uses the same voice in a game that came out 10 years ago (almost to the day, right?)? Honestly, I have never seen anything but groupthink in the 'anti-Meer' movement - enough of Femshep/Hale fans have kept bashing on him, partially due to the dominance of the Hepard in marketing, to the point that a lot of people have just started repeating it. -

Walsingham and Monte Carlo are British, though - they don't really count as Europeans. And no, I'm not completely joking

And I'll continue to disagree with you -
Giving a mix tape to a friend or two is a lot different then giving out mix tapes to a few thousand folks. 90% of all torrents have a 1-4 ratio. Which of course translates to four friends per guy Total completed downloads would be a more reflective statistic.... Because you've streamlined your mixtape distribution service to the point where your friends are passing on copies of their own, not just to 'their friends' but your's as well.

These two are from around ME2's release, but I don't remember reading them before: http://pc.rpgsite.net/articles/152/189/mar...-interview.html http://pc.rpgsite.net/articles/152/205/mar...ew-round-2.html I've always liked his understated approach to Shepard, and my respect for the guy just went up a few more levels. -
I'm pretty sure I brought it up earlier, but everybody's just ignoring me (which is usually for the best, so I'm not too unhappy about it.)

I prefer the same, more... direct approach myself, yet enjoyed the infiltrator quite a bit. The basic skillset + Locust is quite enough to handle 'everyday' combat on the... standard difficulties, while the sniper ability is useful in those encounters when you actually have to bunker down and engage a relatively large number of opponents in good cover. And incinerate is always fun -
... So you can't savor the last moment before popping your heatsink?

Gratuitous and cheap are two different thing. I mean, in this case by definition people (such as myself) are complaining about cheap nudity, not free nudity!

It would be nice if I knew exactly what the upper limit was for needed minerals. I'm playing my ME 1 character again so I get two bonuses, but I'm still compulsively running around and spending 30 probes per system to deplete every planet. Well, I agree that there's a problem there, but I'm not sure it's in the game... Hard to say what the cost is, as it keeps going up with new DLC (Lair alone added quite a pile of new stuff) - and engineer's have reduced costs etc. Not exactly sure why it's necessary to scan beforehand, though... -
While I think some people are disagreeing with the principle, I'm thinking more of WHAT is considered objectionable, and how that seems to vary considerably depending on whether you are in an American or Nordic/Euro context... I mean, I work a lot with transport law, so I have a hard time figuring out why '****pit' would be objectionable in any way

The second part of my comment wasn't really vanguard related... Of course, the fact that he has to try it like five times before it actually works like it's supposed to (vs. cheesing at hand-to-hand distance) isn't exactly that complimentary to the functionality of said ability. Edit: Oh wait, it's probably not supposed to work from that distance, with the cutscene and all.
