  1. combat in the witcher 2 was pretty close to the worst of both worlds imo. combat in the witcher 1 wasn't great either, but i was more patient back then. i'd rather a game be turn based, or at least baldurs gate style semi-turn based. but if it HAS to be an action game with some rpg elements, then make it fun to play first and foremost.
  2. i really feel like that made my life better. i can't explain how or why. it just did.
  3. i tried the demo for space marine. not my cup of tea. too bad though, cause i like warhammer, and i like relic. the game seemed like it could be fun for some people, just not me. finished 2 plays of deus ex HR. not sure what to play now need to kill a month till dark souls, then batman AC, and then skyriiiiiim.
  4. i would buy retail for games that require disc check. if they have more drm than simple disc check, i will wait for them to cost less than $10 and buy it on steam. if a game is steamworks, then i'll just buy it on steam. i prefer retail, but lately i've been forced to buy more and more games on steam. most of them for less than $10.
  5. planescape torment had no push. i was at my local gamestore the morning it was released bright and early expecting a big rush of people there to pick it up. i hoped there would be enough copies. instead i get there, see no one but the employees in the store. i run to the new releases, don't see it. oh wait there it is, 2 copies on the bottom shelf, not even faced out. i ask the employees if the game was released last week and i just didnt have the release date right? they both say "wha? never heard of this game. looks weird, yeah i dont think anyone has heard of this" i reply "its from the team that made fallout 1 and 2..." blank stares. so when people say ps:T didn't sell because of ______ i always say "it didn't sell cause no one knew what it was, who made it, when it was released, or what it was about." the game was a complete sleeper title. i dont know why either, because EVERYONE knew about baldurs gate.
  6. this game was steamworks right? so probably 30-40% of the pc sales are going to be on steam.
  7. i didnt click with geralt in the witcher 2. part of the reason i wasnt crazy about the game. the nameless one i clicked with for sure, but i had a lot more control over his personality than i did over geralts.
  8. i have a feeling resident evil 6 is going to be a big step away from the roots of the series, even more of an action game than part 5 was. i will be disappoint. my favorite RE games (any not listed here means i didnt play them) 4 2 code veronica 5 3 so my taste is kinda all over the map on the series. i just dont want it to become even more action oriented. something halfway between the gameplay of 4 and the vibe of code veronica would be perfect imo. dont care about devil may cry anymore, i only liked the first one. exclusives from a major publisher seem really dumb to me. a game from atlus or something i understand (even support), but the major publishers? seems like a poor decision.
  9. sounds not super good. will wait for reviews on this i think
  10. i just used a ton of mines to kill the 2nd boss. i put like 5 of them in one spot then ran away while cloaked. a bit later and it was lights out senorita, i never fired a shot, and she never even touched me.
  11. i take it you didnt play battlefield 2?
  12. quick morgoth, name your 5 favorite games of the last 3 years.
  13. morgoth: nearly 8000 posts of hater. edit: whoops, was meant to be in response to your elder scrolls jab
  14. elder scrolls games final fantasy games persona battlefield fallout lots of different series are allowed multiple year dev cycles. i think only shooters and trilogies are forced into the annual game.
  15. i LOVED morrowind i loved oblivion (the first time through) i loved fallout 3 i LOVED LOVED LOVED fallout new vegas i'm pretty sure im goint to LOVE, or maybe even LOVE LOVE, skyrim. i'll be really really surprised if i LOVE LOVE LOVE skyrim. and be kinda disappointed if i only end up loving skyrim and not at least LOVING it. so much love.
  16. im very eager to see more from the deus ex studio. they did a great job with that game. im currently replaying it, and thinking about replaying persona 2 afterwards. its been a while, and i've never actually finished the game... its soooooo long and grindy
  17. annual deus ex games? did i read the same article? this is probably so they can have a release every other year, alternating between thief games, deus ex games and other stuff. so the most frequent we would see deus ex titles would be every 4-6 years. which is how it should be. either that or they want to do a deus ex trilogy next, ala mass effect, and they need a bigger company to pull that off. but since these people are also making thief 4, its probably not likely that they are going to just switch full time to churning out deus ex games. then again, i'd buy them so long as they were good. and deus ex HR was great.
  18. i completely agree with everything lexx just said. wonder if there will be any mods for this game...
  19. yeah, im wondering if my next playthrough will leave me totally gimped. im not going to hack anything i dont have to, and im killing EVERYTHING. (ie the opposite of my current playthrough)
  20. i get scared by tons of stuff. so its easy for me, i think having an active/overactive imagination makes it happen more readily. i love scary games, but often can't finish them... (amnesia)
  21. i have a feeling im going to play this game into the ground. then mod the hell out of it and play it into the ground all over again. just posting to say im excited. 111111 cmon already im getting impatient. just realized its about 10 weeks away.... need to think of things to keep me mentally occupied for 10 weeks.
  22. i definitely use the double takedown aug, but i think i could get by without it. its certainly not useless though, its saved my bacon several times, and made some areas way easier to get through unseen.
  23. still playing Deus Ex HR. i think im almost at the end now, should finish it tonight. probably going to do a replay right away. no more sneaking or hacking, im doing a balls out burn-the-world playthrough next time, just to see if that actually works and is very different than the cautious sneaky playthrough im almost finished with.
  24. dead space was ok. survival horror both hit a peak, and fell apart, when resident evil 4 was released imo. i'd definitely rather replay system shock 2 for the 5-6th time than dead space for the second. still, dead space was alright, im not bashing it. definitely was better than alan wake
  25. alan wake had terrible terrible gameplay. it was like playing the original silent hill, with no atmosphere, no art direction, no scares, and no good music. so yeah. not a fun game. max payne 1 and 2 were great, but i think a good sequel is not really in the cards. would be happy to be wrong though
