mass effect "romances" were tremendously laughable. Just use the dialogue lines that sound like you care, badaboombadabing score. I had more emotional attachment to my horse in Shadow of the Colossus than any character in mass effect. I enjoyed mass effect like a bad sci-fi movie, but deep or emotional it was not.

i don't know about you, but I had lots of sex when I was a teenager. protect nothin -
funny, I always assumed that was their plan. its the only thing that makes a lick of sense - pop in your lfd2 disc and play all the campaigns you own, kinda like rock band 2 to rock band 1.

the people who play pc and pirate are more than likely in their teens. -
for the record, dead space was a remake of resident evil 4 (with aliens or creatures like The Thing instead of zomboids) set in a ripped off system shock scenario. it was pretty decent though. but so far from original

did anyone mention "The Professional"? best assassin movie ever made. plus gary oldman = win -
you know hitler thought the same thing. You don't want to be like hitler. No one likes him. edit: is joke - no one derail thread onto hitler popularity

if this ever gets off the ground and you need help with legal, you are welcome to contact me. I would consider doing the work for shares instead of cash because I really like the idea of supporting game developers. I'm a business planning attorney in California.

great post. Too bad we have to wait for the masses to catch up to design ideas that have existed on the pc for years

I'd like to find mention somewhere of what ever happened to the hubologists. maybe have a descendent of them tell the story or something as a little fun side bit. I guess we know what happened to harold, so he's officially out of the series... I wonder if we will see the return of AP v JHP ammo. I also would love to have plasma rifles and laser weapons look like they did in the originals same as combat shotgun. I figure it's a given, but I think many people really like the idea of a dog companion in these games. so we need one of those. but I think we should be able to name it whatever we want. So I can name him dogmeat 3.

OOH A NEW IDEA: there should be an easter egg type quest/encounter where you run into death in the desert looking for the next king of vegas, if you have a guitar you can challenge him to a duel. (this is straight ripoff of stuff from six string samurai, but since this game actually takes place in vegas it really fits)

examples? just so I can track down the books myself to read.

ahh so that must be one of those things I missed by always turning off the radio anytime 3 dog started talking.

was anyone else really confused by the ending narration of F3 referring to your character as the "lone wanderer". It sounded like they were trying to come up with a generic call for the character like vault dweller or chosen one, but just gave up and had perlman say lone wanderer. Did any character in the game ever refer to the PC as lone wanderer? I loved those dialogues in F2 where you could proudly and somewhat idiotically identify yourself as the "chosen one". (I think it was renesco who would then think you were "touched in the head" if you made the claim to him.) oh yeah, and they seriously need to bring back the text box. I dont care if kids today think its outdated, I still like it. (and heck, music from the 40's might be called outdated by people who think fallout is all about new and modern - but to me fallout is about retro, not new and shiny) *disclaimer - entrerix really liked fallout 3. So please no one complain about my complaints, they are complaints of love not hate.

hope not, I'm actually kinda wondering if they'll have us be a tribal this time. the even games we play tribals, the odd games vault dwellers (yeah I know there is no number 4 on new vegas for some reason)

anyone have any guesses what the hook will be in the new game? also: I remember thinking that the father character in F3 would turn out to be the big bad at the end, having turned himself into a new "master" in hopes of ending the need for clean water and all the deaths that are caused by such a need. "my wife wouldn't have died had she been dipped, and now son, I will dip you so that you won't die either!!!" some idea on the father going nuts to try and save the world by making us all mutants under 1 shared mind. I was really disappointed to be wrong and have the enclave be the villains. autumn was about the least impressive villain I've ever seen in fiction, a very far cry from the master or frank horrigan. I'd actually like to see another frank horrigan type character show up, it was one of the few things from the originals that didn't get a new facelift (for better or worse) of some sort in F3. I guess we didn't get geckos either. or those squigly floaters. or wanamingos. Maybe we'll see some of these bad boys in New Vegas?

I'd be the first person to sign a petition to have fallout 3 renamed into Fallout: DC. just take the 3 off it and you've got a great spinoff game. Leaving it like its supposed to be a sequel to fallout 1 and 2... thats kinda crazy oh and I dont mean to call you (aristes) out like a jerk, I just thought YOU thought that I was saying something I didnt mean. Besides, you and I have seen eye to eye on lots of stuff before so I wasnt taking it too personally. :also : totally agree about rivet city, its like, you have the ability to make armored uniforms for an entire police force but you can't grow crops or at least organize your ship?
-
uh aristes, if you think I disliked fallout 3 you need to reread my posts. I loved fallout 3, it just had lots of crappy things in it. I , like many people, can like things while disliking parts of them (ie 3dog). I don't like how the movie aliens has an ending. still my favorite movie though! also, i told you that I hated the pip-radio so I played with it turned it off. So uh thanks for telling me I could turn it off? my bigger beef was the lack of farms (as example of internal consistency) and good dialogue. cmon you cant tell me that because you liked F3 that you liked every single part of it... I just wouldnt believe you.
-
i agree 100% with all that about inconsistency. It's ok to have wildly disparate things happening if your tonally consistent and/or very conscious of internal consistency. F3 had none of either. At least in fallout 1 there were farms or other explanations for how people were surviving. helping explain crop rotation is still one of my favorite moments of any fallout game, it felt so realistic, and was a great use of science/intelligence in dialogue I was trully appalled at the lack of farming in F3. like no joke, it was one the things I noticed most about the improbability. maybe just because I admired it so much in the first games. it sounds nitpicky to many people, but it makes a difference to the overall product if there are blemishes all over it. A really delicious cake with a dead bug inside is still kinda gross even if the dead bug only touched part of the cake. to make my comparison more ridiculous - the clunky interface of fallout 1 would be like serving the cake on paper plates instead of fine china, cake is the best cake ever eaten, but could have been served better. Fallout 3 is cake with dead bug in it - delicious in many places but... kinda awful in others
-
i am so excited about killing 3 dog now! I had no idea beth would let me do that! maybe they did learn some lessons from oblivions everyone with a line of dialogue is invincible
-
funny, I hated three dog and the radio. it took me right out of the setting, post-apocolyptic fiction to me is usually very isolating and quiet and dangerous, and listening to three dog howling like a retard didn't really work for me. On the other hand, I DID like walking into peoples homes and hearing the radio static and switching it off and having silence. it was a very eerie feeling and one that i enjoyed quite a bit. So I guess you could say I hated having a radio on my pipboy (i just pretended it wasn't there) but I liked the radios sprinkled around the wasteland/inside homes. three dog was just plain obnoxious, same as the dj in six string samurai on which 3dog was based. It made more sense in the movie though because it was sort of a wierd rocknroll samurai PA mashup - not fallout (though fallout is certainly a mashup its really more pulp sci fi meets western PA with some retro aesthetics than samurai rockabilly)
