  1. There have a number of power builds been posted on Bethsoft forums. With maxed alchemy, smithing and enchanting, you can have a Daedric two-handed sword do more than 3000 damage. The armour rating of Daedric armour you can get this way is 2500. Basically, it means one-shotting everything.
  2. Arkham City and Saints Row 3 are coming out this week, but... Skyrim.
  3. I'm only level 8 right now, so I am still figuring out what I want to excel at, but has it been said how many times you can level up? Soft cap is 50, hard cap is 70-80.
  4. As far as power gaming goes, Two-handed + Heavy armour + Enchanting + Smithing = win. Still, I believe a mage is much easier to play. With Illusion and Restoration, plus that Destruction perk that staggers enemies, I've never been in danger of dying. A warrior might get one-shotted on occasion.
  5. According to this article: In the Late Middle Merethic Era, the Velothi Mountains were settled by the Dwemer, who created cities beneath the mountain range. Presumably these cities followed the fate of their counterparts in Morrowind and Hammerfell and now lie deserted, but no further information on the cities exists. Velothi Mountains is on the border of Skyrim and Morrowind. Markarth (built on a Dwemer city) and other Dwemer ruins I've found are in the west of Skyrim, on the border with High ROck. The Dwemer, and all the elves, predate the Nords on Tamriel. The only known Dwemer to have settled outside Morrowind (Rourken Clan) left Morrowind in the year 416 of the First Era, so more than four centuries after Ysgramor and his 500 companions killed pretty much all Elves upon their return to Skyrim, and drove what remained underground (Falmer). Dwemer ruins should have been Falmer ruins. Active Effects screen.
  6. The Dwemer shouldn't even be in Skyrim, IIRC. The only place outside Morrowind they were located, was Hammerfell, i.e. literally the place where Volendrung, the hammer of the Rourken clan, fell. The Dwemer presence in Skyrim makes even less sense considering the hatred of the ancient Nords for elvenkind. Then again, maybe I'll come across some new lorebook that explains everything.
  7. Got Black Widow perk.
  8. Boethiah went from female (Daggerfall) to male (Oblivion/Morrowind) to female again in Skyrim. I'm not sure about still using companions. I have one decked in full ebony armour, yet a Draugr Lord killed her in two hits. And they don't get back up, unlike quest NPCs.
  9. I don't use weapons (playing as pure mage). I only dish out a Bound weapon on occasion since they can soultrap and banish summons with the right perks. I gave Molag Bal's mace to my Orc companion.
  10. I'm level 25 and I've only really checked out Markrath. I've learnt 5 power words or whatever they're called through random exploration, I think it's time to start the main quest so I can put that crap to use. Some Orc gave me a sword to give to her daughter "somewhere out there"... for quests like this I almost wish I had quest markers enabled. Mephala? I got the Mace of Molag Bal and the Ring of Namira. I had a funny moment when I met a NPC who had I had done a misc quest for in the Daedric coven, and I could call her out on it.
  11. Sounds like you're playing a different game than me.
  12. Are chests in houses with dead owners safe? I had to store hundreds of books in one house.
  13. Seems like you're visiting the wrong cities, or not looking around enough.
  14. Anyone found the Red Eagle's sword? It's a quest you pick up from a book.
  15. The Muffle spell from the Illusion school makes you move quietly. Not sure how much armour affects it. Just picked up a boatload of new spells in Markarth (I ended up there by accident, but it is quickly becoming my new favourite place, with the ambient Morrowind tracks it uses, plus some really great quests). The rune spells combined with new ranged destruction spells make the game much easier.
  16. Coolest dungeon so far. Free archery lessons More Dunmer fools caught in webs. I want this guy's robe.
  17. I think the game's Radiant story kicked in and teleported my character from Falkreath all the way to Markarth after a drinking binge. Now my entire quest book is filled to the brim after poking around a bit.
  18. Tiber Septim wasn't a rapist, he just took advantage of the notorious promiscuity of a Dunmer in her adolescency. Conjuration levels up way too fast in comparison with the other mage schools once you get a Bound Sword spell. Strangely enough it also levels up outside combat unlike Alteration. I got it to 50 without even trying.
  19. Use Fury to set multiple enemies against each other, then raise their corpses. Just raided a bandit camp like this.
  20. Best way to train conjuration: reanimate mudcrabs! It's still stupid considering the Imperials are basically doing nothing but kissing Thalmor butt. They're setting aside human beliefs for Elven beliefs. Ascending into godhood being possible is a basic part of Tamrielic lore. Not to mention Arkay of the original 8 Divines was once a mortal as well (and the reason why the King of Worms tries so hard to become a god himself). Since the level cap is 50, I surmize difficulty won't go down any time soon.
  21. I need a ranged magic spell. I fought some Necromancer Adept that pelted me with ice shards of some kind. Had to eventually bullrush her with a warding spell activated and cut her down with a sword. Also, do dungeons respawn? Because the necromancer hideout I raided seems like a pretty nice place to crash. Plus there's an enchanting & alchemy table.
  22. I don't get the story so far. It's all well that the Empire made peace with the Thalmor, yet they allow them to roam free all over the place and root out the worship of Talos? Never mind it was Talos (Tiber Septim) who founded the damn Empire in the first place. I wonder if my High Elf will somehow be able to join these Thalmor.
  23. I set timescale to 10. I'm finding time flows too fast in Skyrim, I didn't even get to do anything in Riverwood yet because it's the middle of the night each time I try to return to it. I don't remember it being this bad in Oblivion.
  24. I like that there is no stupid story-hook to dangle from, e.g. "Bring this package to Caius Cosades!", "Bring the amulet to Jauffre!", "Find Daddy dearest!". I also turned off all quest markers, but I'm not sure whether the game will be playable this way.
  25. Leveling fast is a non-issue considering you can only get around 70 of the total of 250 in-game perks. Not to mention you only get a small health/magicka/stamina bonus upon level up. There's also the fact that training already high skills will make you level up quicker.
