Fallout: New Vegas
I think there was just one "meter" for it that was like: bad<---->neutral<---->good.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground
Whoa, I'd love me a new HoMM. Shame their DRM will prevent me from getting it.

Some more Sawyer from bethboards. This time regarding reputation:

Fallout: New Vegas
Well I guess fans might recognize him, but is he actually a good voice actor? Well, he wasn't completely wooden in Lost and has at least some experience in vo's, so I'd guess it depends on the vo direction.

Fallout: New Vegas
Fun to read, though. Dolls changed to snowglobes WTF stupidass!

Fallout: New Vegas
Agreed. Not to mention that forcing the player to gimp himself in the first place in order to find some balance/challenge is one of the most tedious things in videogames. (imo)

Fallout: New Vegas
I can't even think of a more sensible place for it with the current weapon categories. Normal guns and explosives just don't seem to fit for it, imo.

Fallout: New Vegas
I think most of the "idiotism" came from the fear of it now being even easier to become overpowered, or something. Didn't really pay too much attention to the rants, though. But I agree with you. The solution can (and likely will) be effective, provided that, in addition of the "more frugal skillpoint economy", the pace of leveling and the effectiviness of skills and stats supports it (imo).

Cooking some weapons, eh? I smell an eXistenz reference.

If it so happens that stimpaks are not the most common "fruit" in the Mojave and if cooking gives a substantial bonus to the healing effect of food it just might be a worthwhile (and probably quite interesting) feature to invest in.

Fallout: New Vegas
Science came to my mind. And on that note, the skill with orbilaser could (should?) affect the accuracy (the ability set the coordinates correctly) and amount of uses/day. I can Imagine a situation where one is aiding a group on mission to seize a "spot X". He sets the "spot" as a target to burn the enemies behind the covers and whoops the laser goes 100 meters aside from the target and scorches all/half the allies - and because the skill is low there is no second try (not being able program/what ever a booster for the recharger) until tomorrow, and then it's too late already. Power comes with risks. Science, surely? Or what about pure Luck? Why not.

Maybe I'll just break my rule of no investing in CEs and their useless clutter with increased price. Just this once.

Fallout: New Vegas
Why does every interviewer want to know if F:NV will be a better "shooter/FPS"? I mean, obviously the combat is a big thing in the game, but instead asking "So are the FPS elements improved??" why doesn't anyone ask exactly how does the combat work skill/stat wise since they're supposed to be the defining elements of efficiency? How are the the RPG elements of combat improved/tweaked? That's what I'd like to know. Otherwise a good read.

Fallout: New Vegas
Not to mention that weaponmods and some of the features of HC-mode were in the original games already.

Fallout: New Vegas
Yes. A good example of "don't drink'n write". I'm off to some aspirin now....

Fallout: New Vegas
that ain't me, buster. (p.s. i knew i knew you from somewhere else!) I know, and jokes are what I (usually) try to do (if the discussion isn't about general RPG mechanics). So cheers (tried to continue what you put up, no offence meant, just a quick continuation). Edit: Gaddamn: The drunken mind......

What are you playing now?
Replaying Arma 2, and entering the villages still scare me more than any horrortitles there are.

Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas
I didn't see one, so I guess they were a "western thing".

Fallout: New Vegas
Games for magpies.

Fallout: New Vegas
Agreed. The use of lighting and colors can do wonders to the atmosphere. Which reminds me about how eastern european games (like the Witcher and Arma 2 for example) seem to be using less overpowering colors and more natural lighting and thus succeed in creating greater atmosphere than their western counterparts. Is that some East Europe thing or what, I don't know, but I do wish other developers used that technique too. And agreed about the sounds and music too.

Awww. My castle in the clouds just came crashing down and killed the cattle. About the same size.

Fallout: New Vegas
I can agree to that. Then again, we haven't seen the Strip. In general, though, I don't pay too much attention for screens as they tend to not show the best parts - or anything to particularly look forward to - of the game in this genre.
