  1. Maybe you were pulling instead of pushing ?
  2. Is why I never go outside without my keys.,
  3. Have either of them said it's impossible to better their station, though ? Seems they have a pessimistic view (usually the correct one in things to have) but not defeatist. Again, it goes back to the curious way people like you see 'fair' vs their's, heh.
  4. Or just has a fetish for process.
  5. FREEDOM YESIt's about time the ISPs can throw off the oppressive yoke of their tyrant customers Still not understanding the reason why this change will make things competitive. Have heard NN is bad because some traffic deserves to be prioritized and NN will block that, but not sure I buy that. Corporations like people, need a gun to their head to be honest
  6. Giving Deserts of Kharak another go, they supposedly fixed the campaign bugs.
  7. What do you mean by synchronicity? Well, not a proper reference to the Jungian idea, but wasn't being entirely serious
  8. Just that I don't really see anyone arguing that "it isn't fair" that someone is doing better than others. Not really sure how we got on to the topic of why the poor are such from talking about why flat taxes are the best idea, either, heh. But fair to some is everyone is equal (and them poor people gettin' hand outs) but to others it's a narrower gap between rich, middle and working classes. Even in that hypothetical GD posed for whatever aim he had, have to agree luck is a bigger factor than it should be.
  9. Friend referred this to me, apropos of nothing - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/17/upshot/income-inequality-united-states.html Almost makes me believe in synchronicity
  10. That's pretty cool! Why wouldn't everyone, that needs it, do it? And unrelated to above, has the conversation now shifted to; "most people aren't living as well at the top earners are"? We've now established that its totally "doable" to live on single or dual incomes and have most of life's "luxuries". BUT! Dude over there has a nicer house and that's not fair! Well, not all people are equal. That's the plain unvarnished truth. Not all people have the same mental acuity or intelligence. Not all people have the same physical capabilities. So is the discussion really that all people should have the same success? Of course there are going to be haves and have not's. I cant even really understand how that's not a basic understanding of life. Is interesting to see how differently fair is being interpreted
  11. So I guess the point being driven at is that those that are struggling are just lazy or stupid, heh.
  12. Wonder if they can also ditch the car.
  13. Resist the peer pressure. Besides, unless you go the Razor1911 route, a bit tricky to 'try' it.
  14. Found out that all emails to clients have to be reviewed by the team before they are sent. Not sure why this improves anything but there you go. Why I always snicker when I hear someone jerking off to the glory of the private sector and its efficiency.
  15. Could always ask to clear that up before going off on a sermon. An idea. One thing though, is it a problem for you that some people don't pay tax just due to being too poor for it ?
  16. Sounds like life in a corporation
  17. This seems like a self correcting problem here.
  18. I don't believe I referred to the poor as lazy parasites. 213374U seems to think I do too but with him if you oppose the means you must also oppose the ends. Personally I think taxation in any form is theft and government services could be paid for on an as-used basis for a lot of things. And what's left could be funded in other ways. Of course that would mean a government that does far, far less than what people seem to want. So it seems that cow is long out of the barn. As far as not caring for others Libertarians are the champions of private citizens rights. When the City of Riviera Beach in Florida wanted to use eminent domain to seize and demolish a poor neighborhood to build a new upscale marina and shopping center who funded the homeowners court challenge? The Libertarian Party of Florida. Who is helping pay court costs for the challenges to Trump's "muslim ban"? The US Libertarian Party. If your definition of caring for people is making them subservient wards of the state when you won't think libertarians care about people. If your idea of caring is defending their rights and property, protecting their income, and removing the roadblocks to their success and upward mobility then you'll find libertarians care deeply about people. Well didn't say you did say that. Wasn't so much thinking about the party as much as individuals that declare themselves as such. Certainly has coloured my view of them, heh, running across types whose belief boils down to "**** you, I got mine".
  19. Also would need to account for kids.
  20. That's ok, as long as they pay the same percentage as everyone else it's their fair share. Why not let them keep their meager amount though? Some poor people not paying is that much of a bugbear to you? The point about living in a society is true, though, not sure why the poor are automatically lazy parasites or something but libertarians and caring for others isn't typically a package.
  21. David Cassidy's dead, never did watch much Partridge Family
  22. Well the people that poor aren't going to contribute all that much as they're on a knife edge. And not as if they are free-loading off the glorious honest 10%, for similar reasons.
  23. Had a moment of despair at work as a client said they forgot everything I explained to them in a 3 hour call on a process. Luckily my burnout overrode such emotion
  24. Think the only 2017 game I boughr was Thimbleweed Park. So I guess it'd have to be that.
