  2. Suicides are always tragic
  3. Replaying X-Wing. Having my displays break due to damage, while immersive and suitably punishing for getting shot up, is annoying. Also, maybe I need a better joystick, utterly awful fine control with my current one, wonder if it's just a DOSBOX thing with a USB stick, but given it's the el cheapo Logitech one might not be
  4. Got the novelizations of Ep 1 to 3, good to read during meetings at work. Decent enough books, the novelizations of AOTC is a bit better than the film, RoTS' novelization is much better - Anakin turning makes a smidge more sense.
  5. Well my rig can still run it, so that's something. Reloaded an old save to play Phantom Liberty, but maybe should start wholly fresh.
  6. https://www.reuters.com/world/azerbaijani-turkish-leaders-hold-talks-eye-forging-land-corridor-via-armenia-2023-09-25/ At least Iran is a bit of a block to that.
  7. Also, the Waffen SS veteran invited to the House is going to cost the Speaker his job here, idiot couldn't get a staffer to hit Wikipedia.
  8. Had the day off to take dog to rehab from his spinal operation. Also learned Russian music goes very well with weapons fire.

  10. Will be interesting to read about this in, hm, maybe 2 years after the war ends. Maybe people were concerned about escalation, Ukraine's not worth a war with Russia and US. Doubt Ukrainians are as dumb as people online who want them to strike Russian cities with them. Then again they did kill Dugina for some reason, sort of not worth the effort. Wonder what next the Ukrainians will cry for though. Maybe an Arleigh Burke or three.
  11. More realistic statement, to be honest, it will have to end with negotiation. Russia is the successor to the USSR, and when it come to making decisions to help the ANC, wasn't coming from Kiev. Also, suppose it matters how Ukraine has supported RSA or not. Ah well, no one's team ever commits a foul.
  12. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/russia-ukraine-war-atacms-biden-zelenskyy-long-range-missile-rcna116876 Some ATACMS at last.
  13. https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/sudan-politics-darfur/ RSF can't change its spots, I guess.
  14. Beat all the races in WoW, some were pretty challenging. Got gold by 0.4 s in some cases, but win by a inch or a mile is still a win. Going back to playing Star Wars Rebellion, should make a Win98 VM to play this though, the GOG version functions okay enough barring crashes and the tactical battles having flickering and such. Will check for mods.
  15. And Blinken who moralizes here said Iraq was "tough diplomacy". It's funny how full of crap everyone is. Yeah, not seeing that either. Zelensky said similar types of reforms, including some bonkers one that a veto can be overpowered by the GA. Ukraine hit the Black Sea HQ today, too
  16. As Zoraptor predicted. Well, some do, I have posted stuff about the Tigray conflict (think that still tops Ukraine for body count) although I don't follow news as much as I should.
  17. The latest tiff with Poland and Ukraine was amusing - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66873495 For a laugh, here's the Telegraph's take on it- https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/09/21/poland-weapons-grain-ukraine-putin/ . Been walked back already by Poland though. Ukrainian officials seem to not really know their place in things, though, still trying this shaming as a motivator.
  18. Not sure said thread would be that popular, given he was referring to the Second Congo War. Interesting requirements to care though, one is being on the continent and two is only if a regional organization does.
  19. UNSC meeting today was entertaining, Russian rep challenging Zelensky being there and then getting a shut down by the council President. The Albanian representative did comment on indifference to Ukraine, although he didn't really give a good argument about why this isn't like wars in other places where it's just a problem for local nations. "An aggression in Europe's heart cannot be Europe's problem only". I can't help but get a little bit of a laugh when people go on as if this war is a nightmare without compare in recent times.
  20. Well ceasing use of PPPoE seems to resolve the phone problem. No sense to me why that would cause issues with the VoIP through the ISP modem but eh. Moved family over to the ISP router as well. Annoying issue but at least that fire is out
  21. Not sure the aspiration you're attributing is that on, Ukraine killing their own people with an errant missile or bullet isn't really showing them as "bad". Worst it will be is just liars, but lying in war is to be expected. As for indifference to people getting wasted, nothing new. Maybe D'Agata was on to something though about relative civilization.
