The Christmas Thread
Christmas is a pretty dull time, and being around all these happy people is making me really uneasy. Skimped on gifts this year, bought one gift pre-Christmas, and one is post-Christmas, so I'll look bad when they're exchanging gifts. Ah well

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Guess we'll have to discount FONV, too, with the single-platform DLC n' all. Nope, just discount its DLC.

Dragon Age 2
Oh cool, the Deep Roads are back.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Woo, meaningless accolades. Never heard of Demon's Souls though.

Game Shame
But they're just soulless corporate husks. Don't get why you should feel shame over games, closest I get is just regret over wasted money (like Starcraft II, Civ 5 CE).

What you did today
Lucky dogs. Here in Initech I get the 27th and 28th off. So 27th is ruined as I watch Arsenal lose, hm..not much of a break.

Bioware's New Game
It was, but so little has been told, might as well wile away the time with useless arguments.

Bioware's New Game
Wonder about the comparison though, I've never faced entire platoons at once in DX as opposed to COD4.

What you did today
I remember reading something about the psychological effects of battle on the different branches of the armed services. It brought up how the air force as a rule are distanced from anyone they kill, so they don't often have quite the same.. visceral response to having killed people that infantry will usually have. Something about seeing a plane blow up, or go down in a crash doesn't create the same emotional response as actually seeing a human body directly. Take that as you will. Yep, he mentioned that he saw it as plane on plane, rather than actually killing a guy. I just chuckled at his remorse after he jumped a helpless opponent, that and the triumphant way the narrator announces that kill made him an ace. That show is somewhat interesting, but too US-focused after a while (granted, easier to find US vets for them).

What are you playing now
Pah, DoW III before Homeworld 3. Have they ever said they'd return to HW ? Right now playing AlternativA, seems a lot like Westwood's Blade Runner. I'm pleased with it so far, but apparently from reviews it's buggy crap.

Bioware's New Game
DX "AI"wasn't that bad for the time it came out. I still want to meet these people that found Liberty Island too hard, so I may laugh at them

What you did today
Watched two Dogfights episodes last night, truly US airmen are Gods of War. Funny bit, though, US pilot and his wingman jump a Fw190 that's trailing smoke and running. So the pilots jump him, the German bails out and low altitude, bounces off the ground and dies in a nasty way. Then the US pilot recalls how bad he felt seeing the man die.

Bioware's New Game
Nah, polish usually gets attributed to a whole assortment of stuff like world details etc. Did manage to track back some of the whining, people did complain about the combat, still think that's a PEBKAC, but people are so. So I guess you're right about AP. In any event, that's a pick on an implementation, not the idea *shrug*

Bioware's New Game
Presuming the PC-skill dependent aiming (as weak as it was) was the main or a significant problem people had with AP. Don't recall it being so, was mostly bleating on about bugs and the nebulous "lack of polish" (CD Projekt should have been involved), etc.

FO: NV (General Discussion)
The mere idea of fan VAs scares me to no end. Then again, people make all kinds of worrying mods for Bethesda's games.

Bioware's New Game
The peek-a-boo shooting got tiresome, but I agree was a good change from the drama. I don't see what's wrong with mixing the two, just have the PC's skil affect the player's aim, scope sway, reticle spread, etc. Nice abstraction. As for the timed dialogue, I doubt they'll give you 5 seconds to make a choice. AP gave you a fair amount of time (never clocked it). Also you have the NPC's audio and the dialogue choices in ME aren't that long so accessibility (the actual version) shouldn't be a problem.
