Taxes, surcharges and freedom.
Well, it'd have to be noticeable, you don't want them just ignoring the lash.

Update from the War on Drugs
Well, they tacked a surcharge on plastic bags here and it worked well at least at one chain (80% reduction in plastic bag use). Was popular with TO's yuppie set too. Not really a 'sin' tax but in the same vein of 'do the good thing - or you'll pay more'.

Taxes, surcharges and freedom.
Well if they did it here, it'd be nothing more than a revenue grab meant to sucker people into thinking the government actually is concerned with the desired consequence.

Update from the War on Drugs
Well, assuming nothing else at all affects people's intakes of fattening foods.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Well that is one aspect of being paranoid. See EVE forums for that in spades, heh, and speaking of, this might not mean much to any of you guys, but it might be interesting - http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/10/02/ev...the-war-on-lag/ And a more thorough explanation - http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=900

What are you playing now?
Also apparently that goat puzzle was supposed to be brutal in the original, all the more reason to play it. Still nothing was worse for me than the Dig's reactor repair.

What are you playing now?
Hm, I should have played the original before the Director's Cut I guess (it is included in the GOG offer).

Yep, they see schemes were there are none, eh ? Interesting lot of people.

What you did today
Funnily enough, when I first heard that term was looking up on it and was amused to find "soldiers" upset at the use of a feminine term for their manly role Successfully tricked myself into being motivated for work today, not really sure how which is annoying as I can't use it in the future.

Update from the War on Drugs
Good way to sneak some revenue in.

Books
See, Brian Herbert felt his dad loved Dune more than him, so the new Dune books are his attempt at revenge.

What are you playing now?
Broken Sword. So far is a pretty fun game, I rather enjoyed that cryptographic puzzle with the letters.

Update from the War on Drugs
Not sure about your city, but mostly it's sedans here and those don't do freight. Idling traffic is probably the worst for the air, I'd guess and from talking to bike couriers (wondered why they wear these filtering masks on their faces). Must be due to my mom smoking so I'm used to being around smokers, but largely don't get the disgust people have for them, heh. Although, considering there's a large cigarette smuggling business here, I wonder how much the drug business would shrink if everything were to be legalized and taxed.

Update from the War on Drugs
I'm not sure I benefit from walking past a street crammed with idling cars of varying efficiencies pumping out their exhaust.

What you did today
Good looking dog, wish I could get that breed but space is a problem. Still, rather fond of my sister's dachshunds though - even if the dogs are stubborn and one of them believes himself Master of us all. Nice relaxing day to get my laundry and cleaning done.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Stop stating that they know they've lost X amount if it's not reliable. Qualitative moaning works just as well for the purposes of pitching a DRM scheme. It is funny to see Ubisoft get burned though, AC2, Settlers and now Driver.

So, stuck with bunk loss data it is, then.
-
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
I think it's developers who claim statistical losses that are probably based on bunk. Would be neat if someone did a proper study on all of this, but ah well.
