  1. Wildstar's beta. So far, I quite enjoy it. In many ways, it's a fairly typical MMO... But with several improvements. -The combat is much more actiony. Tab-targetting is barely used - most abilities require you to manually aim. You have to dodge/move out of enemy attacks. -You can only have 10 abilities equipped at a time. You have a pool of abilities to choose from that expands as you level, and you can change your loadout at at will when out of combat. -The art style is bright/colorful, over the top, and fun. -There is A LOT to do while playing. You are constantly bombarded with activities to partake in.
  2. I played it at a friend's a few months ago and found the camera claustrophobic, and the jumping/climbing bits annoying. It's a shame, because I liked the setting and the protagonist. Oh, and the crime scene/memory recreation part was kinda neat.
  3. Fair enough... Though I can't imagine what additional info they could offer that would change my opinion about a free-to-play tank-based MMO.
  4. Well that was certainly... something. A valuable lesson in managing expectations, I guess.
  5. C'mon Obsidian! Please be something I want
  6. That's a great description of the Mage/Templar conflict! It's a shame that Bioware insisted on telling that story using such extreme examples, because with a little nuance it could've been interesting. Instead, 90% of templars are corrupt, paranoid, sadists... And the majority of mages are so weak-willed and emotionally crippled that they resort to blood magic and/or turn into abominations the second someone looks at them funny.
  7. So glad I backed this -- it's looking great so far!
  8. I read and enjoyed the first 3. I couldn't get through the 4th though. Now I just enjoy the show.
  9. The Witcher 3 has been delayed until February 2015.
  10. Same. It's the only part of the game that I actually enjoy. Unfortunately, I can't do *just* the class quests and have fun... I have to do the planet story as well, and every side quest and bonus in order to stay at the right level.
  11. I'm replaying Jade Empire. I wish Bioware would re-visit the series as there are some parts of it I like. If nothing else, it's a different flavour of fantasy
  12. Honestly, I think that's what it boils down to.
  13. Silly hats are a thing that people wore. http://www.villagehatshop.com/content/57/gallery-chapter-7.html
  14. I've sunk a few hours into Starbound, which is apparently modelled after Terraria. It's amazing how quickly time melts away when you're playing in the mud.
  15. Here's what the Andy Warhol Foundation apparently has to say about the soup cans: I've read a bit more on Tammy's website, and apparently she is claiming fair use of Princess Daphne because her drawing is a non-commercial tribute to the Dragon's Lair character... If she were to license it in exchange for money it would no longer be non-commercial use, right? Furthermore, Anita is claiming fair use because her videos are educational/not-for-profit, and that her use of the image in a collage is transformative. This is why the whole thing gets hazy in my non-copyright-lawyer-mind. The only thing that keeps going through my mind is this: Tammy can't copyright that image, in the same way that I cannot draw an original picture of Mickey Mouse and copyright it. I cannot have my drawing of Mickey printed on merchandise and sold in stores because I don't own/haven't licensed Mickey Mouse. All of this of course doesn't mean that using it without permission or acknowledgement is somehow not a jerk move. Edit: Hopefully this is somewhat legible. It's 6:30am on a Saturday and I'm battling a headcold so my thoughts aren't exactly organized
  16. Did Tammy create Princess Daphne? Does she own the rights to her? Does anyone know how artist's rights work in regards to fanart? Can artists re-draw another persons IP and then sell it/license it? I ask, not because I think it's cool that Anita used the art without permission... I'm just wondering if the artist has a leg to stand on.
  17. I almost had to suspend my disbelief so that it didn't ruin the authenticity of the story. Which I was able to do, thankfully. I just had to convince myself that having gone through what she has, Clem would grow up quickly. And to be fair, she does a good job of proving her competency to the group in Episode 1. Oh totally. When it was first rumored that Clem was the protagonist of Season 2, I was a little worried that her age would really limit her interactions with other characters and the world, and that the game would suffer for it. This isn't the case at all, thankfully.
  18. Just finished playing through Episode 2 of The Walking Dead Season 2. I liked it a lot more the Episode 1, though there were times that I struggled with the plausibility of Clem being an 11 year old. I guess you grow up fast in a zombie apocalypse, but still... Adults are asking her to make decisions on life and death matters. That's not to say I don't like her as a protagonist -- it's quite the opposite. It's just one of those things that nags at me while I'm playing it.
  19. I finally finished Dragonfall this morning -- It was such a huge improvement over DMS. I did find the last set of levels to be a bit boring, and also some stuff just went over my head... . I was cranky when I bought my final decker "armor" and it looked like a brown version of my starting gear, however. I looked like Indiana Jones(without the hat) with a keytar stuck on my back I wish my character could have looked as cool as the NPCs in the game.
  20. I'm really enjoying it so far -- much more than Dead Man's Switch. The companions are a huge improvement, and I love how often I get to use my skills to solve problems in different way. I went with a Decker(again) and still think it is a flawed "class" in that the benefits it brings -- the extra credits from paydata, bypassing passwords/locks, conversation checks -- only really add to the role-playing fun of the character... The Matrix portions so far are few and far between, and really only serve to net you a few extra credits(~400-500 per paydata so far). When you consider the cost of upgrading your deck, programs, and ESPs... You definitely lose money vs. what you gain. And considering 95% of your play time is spent in meatspace, skill points spent on decking/ESP control are a pretty big waste as well. Still, I do like the RP aspects of it, and find that a decker fits the role of protagonist really well in this story.
  21. I played through the opening, but now I'm sitting here wondering what class to play... I played a Decker in the first game, and felt pretty useless 90% of the time.
  22. Before you even start playing a campaign? That sounds a bit extreme. I'm not sure if you can save on the main menu. Damn it! They said save ANYWHERE! Scams and stuff.
