  1. I'm sorry if I come out like I'm trying to troll, but... these are really questions so basic that you could easily get your answers from, hell, wikipedia or something. There's nothing to "discuss" when even basic facts need to be established. I mean how can you have an "opinion" about what evolutionary theory is about? Do you have "opinions" on what trigonometry is about, or can you have an "opinion" on what the basic claims of the theory of relativity are? Can you "discuss" what is meant by the Pythagorean theorem? Either you know the facts or you don't, heh.
  2. What Pidesco says is just about as useful, and makes about as much sense, as telling a Dune fan that it doesn't matter that Frank Herbert died and never finished the series, after all there are other authors out there who write books too!
  3. *Shrug* I would very much like to see my favorite gamewriter handle the True Sith that Revan was after, there are enough loose ends to tie left from Kotor 2 that I think wishing for an Obsidian-made Kotor 3 is only natural. The fact that we're not getting it marks the end of an interesting, maybe I could even say promising, storyline (and while Bioware may end up with something worthwhile - *cough* may - it will not be the same). I'm not sure why I'm not supposed to feel that way. If I were a suspicious man, which fortunately I am not, I'd suspect you of butting into this thread for no other reason than to troll.
  4. Kotor games, that is? 'cause I think that's what this eulogy idea is about, in case you missed that little fact.
  5. What about my specific, Avellone-written gameplay experience?
  6. I found it all pretty far-fetched. I kind of prefer the sort of Star Wars universe where after ROTJ Palpatine is dead, period. But that's only one of the very many reasons why I no longer pay attention to the supposedly "canon" developments because they read like fanfic to me anyway, no matter how many stamps of approval Lucas puts on them. EDIT: I can't type.
  7. A modified Corellian transport, like the Falcon, would suit me just fine. Partly because unless it is the Falcon specifically, it looks like any other Corellian transport and I could have some anonymity. I was kind of sick of going through both K1 and K2 and everyone and their dog would remark "that's the Ebon Hawk, isn't it?".
  8. The book of Kotor is not closed until TSLRP comes out. Then, we will be able to use the philosophy of the knife (see Fremen): "Now it is complete because it ends here".
  9. Endor would be my favorite place... to bomb. To rid the Universe of Ewoks.
  10. I played K1 after K2, so by then I had a pretty decent idea what I was doing. I simply ignored physical combat and focused my Consular on maximising the DC of my Force Powers, or in other words on making my Force attacks as irresistible as possible. I remember the maximum value I could get without seriously gimping all attributes other than wisdom and charisma was 47 DC, which gave me a very decent % chance of succeeding a Force Whirlwind on Malak (31 reflex save), after Breaching his Immunity of course. That, alone or in combination with Force Kill, could eventually bring him down while stopping him from cutting me into little bits of meat. My favorite aspect of this whole business was being able to defeat Malak only using the Force, without resorting to stupid things like stimulants (Luke Skywalker didn't need no stinkin' steroids, neither do I), shields (ditto), medpacks (instahealing, wtf?) or mines (taking advantage of crappy AI doesn't make me feel powerful). Anyway, so it was a single-bladed Scout/Consular, I went with the advice of Aeon's page and did a 5/15 level spread which gave me the most feats. I played Lightside, which let me use get extra DC from the robe, I think from the circlet, and from Lightside Mastery (funny how it never shows in K1 like it does in K2, but it does give you extra charisma). My second playthrough was a Guardian, double sabers. It was tons of fun, but I think I needed to activate a verpine shield against Malak.
  11. I'm curious what aspect of the Star Wars Expanded Universe the fans dislike the most. For me it was the ysalamiri, at first, despite my liking Zahn's fiction more than just about everything else in EU except maybe I, Jedi. Because my understanding of the Force is that "if it's alive, it's there in the Force, period". The Yuuzhan Vong race dethroned the ysalamiri as the stupidest thing I've ever heard of, for very much the same reason. Even if some race were to lose their own ability to manipulate the Force, it should certainly not give them special immunities against Jedi. But nothing beats the Thought Bomb. I only learned about it today, and good god, what's THAT doing in a Star Wars universe? So, anyway, what's your biggest peeve with the EU?
  12. Wow, the first of this thread had me having dark thoughts about the future of the human race. So basically you take a leaked, incomplete, buggy beta of a project that at the time isn't even close to completion, and you conclude that it sucks? And then you even have the effrontery to ask, "who says the final mod will be any different?" Well what do you think the Team has been doing with the project since that beta, if not making it different and better? As to mods being typically buggy, I think the idea is that after the installing of TSLRP, the game might be -less- buggy than the vanilla game, not more. This isn't some amateurish "let's add a lot of cool stuff like lightsabers and new force powers and sexy clothes" mod, it's a serious project that, I imagine, is taking years for a reason. They're fixing a bunch of stuff that was a problem in the original game, and screening the readded content pretty thoroughly, it looks like. Although who knows, maybe the cut content will "balance" it with new undetected bugs... So personally I'm going to just wait and see what happens when they release the real thing, rather than make dumb comments based on material that was never meant for release.
  13. I say K2 was better because it had far better written characters. Kreia, the perhaps best written character in the history of games, hello? I also like the finer shades of gray to the story and the way of playing, you don't do things completely black and white but you take other, long term considerations into account. In K1, it was just stupidly naive, "give money -> get lightside points". In K2, you do the same and suddely you have Kreia explaining to you how stupid you are. I guess it annoyed a lot of people who were used to the simple Star Wars mindset by now, but I liked it. So one of the reasons I voted was that K2 had better Lightside. I just wish the combat system wasn't so broke. And I can't wait till TSLRP patches the story properly. (I need to see GO-TO die. Repeatedly.)
