  1. Haha, yeah, that beats my examples.
  2. Hm, good point. Maybe Revan is mean like that. Or he wanted to make sure nobody else would be using HK. Or it was Kreia, who found HK onboard when she took over the Hawk (how did that happen, anyway?) and due to her distrust of droids, decided to get some extra assurance it won't suddenly up and walk when she's meditating, hehe. Seriously, any particular reason to think it could have been Go-to?
  3. "Who cares about what morons say?" Perhaps essentially true, but maybe the Team doesn't have that kind of detachment. And then again, it could deceive people who only first hear about the Project from the comments of such a hypothetical beta release, and give them wrong ideas. Just as in that thread about the leaked beta you had people thinking "does this mean the cut content sucks and was cut for a reason?" Ugh.
  4. *nod* Throughout the whole Kotor 2 you see bits and pieces of how Revan was leaving everyone from his original Ebon Hawk crew behind, in one way or another, making sure they don't come after him and - if he had such - giving them assignments in known space. Bastila, Carth (stay and make the Republic strong), Canderous (stay and organise the Mandalorians), T3 (stop following me, you beeping trash comp... ok, this is my imagination at this point )... I guess he didn't have use for HK any more and he didn't want people using HK to find out how to follow him, so he wiped his relevant memory and put a few blaster bolts into him, getting rid of that problem.
  5. Uhm... didn't Goto go rogue long after Revan left? And how can you say Revan had no reason to do it when the very previous post you disagree with states the reason...
  6. My link is wrong on that bit. As I said, I remember getting the item in Vogga's warehouse, on T3's solo mission (after he got "sold" by the Champ). It was either in one of the containers, or loaded on one of the HK-50s, I don't remember for sure but I think it was the containers.
  7. No, the Wisdom upgrade you get in Vogga's warehouse. I remember it has something in its description about increasing the droid's self-awareness by removing factory-installed limitations. Aha! Found it. Go me. http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/search/...OR_Items.id=890
  8. Honestly, who cares about the impact on combat *chuckle* I even install the "wisdom" upgrade part (yes, there is one) on T3 just for Role Play reasons.
  9. I don't think they'd be right to do that. Why expose themselves to more morons criticising an unfinished product for being unfinished?
  10. It's a Wisdom upgrade. Hm, if it's a missing link in the dialogue script, maybe one can mod it in with the Kotor Tool. I'll have to check when I have time.
  11. Awww, ****e. Wish I'd known that. I was wondering why I can't install it last time I played.
  12. While we're on the subject, Kotor savegames zip beautifully, 2 GB or so (4 playthroughs) went down to something like 50 MB (with 7-Zip). That helps if you're a maniac like me, who keeps a whole string of saves of a playthrough saved just in case I ever want to review a particular moment in the story one day.
  13. I actually prefer a good book to a good game. Keyword being "good". Most "novellisations" of things aren't really that great, though I liked what Feist made of Betrayal at Krondor. edit: actually come to think of it, that may be because there aren't so many games that are as good as good books. Kotor 2 is definitely up there as one of the best written games ever, same with Torment, and it would be hard to beat with a book. So in the end I guess I have no special preference of game vs book, I just want whatever comes out to be well written!
  14. IIRC, you only see the savegames for the last character you played. So if your son created a different character, only his saves are visible - but in the load screen you can switch back by using the Switch Characters button. Or are you sure the files are physically gone from your saves folder?
  15. And then terminate them anyway after we get what we want, Sith style? *blink*
  16. I agree that it doesn't make sense for Exile not to know Revan is a (Light) Jedi again just as he/she is. I mean there's even a separate quest in TSL that basically says "catch up with what's been going on in the galaxy" that's started by talking to Atton and finished by talking to Kreia. But you're wrong about there being no past animosity, I think. Revan used Exile at Malachor V, and used him again later as a weapon of conversion against the Council. Check out some dialogues with HK, about what Revan thought of the Exile and also what his intentions were towards the Jedi he sent to Malachor (you need high INF to unlock them). Of course I don't think it means they're destined to come to blows, though. But their alliance against the Sith would not be... an unambigous thing.
  17. Is it just me or is there a guy mass-creating accounts to spam the forums about this particular problem?
  18. I think you're stretching it. As to the issue of canonicity, I'm going with this quote: "No. We've avoided anything concrete about the canon ending. The only reason why we decided on a canon gender for the Revan and the exile was out of editorial necessity." ―Leland Chee So they may have needed to decide a gender, and now that they have, they'll stick with it. But it doesn't mean anything, really. When there's 20 or 50 writers working on the same universe, with so varying levels of writing skill (hell, even the original owner of the franchise has produced works much worse than the original trilogy), the idea of canon loses all meaning for me, and I feel free to pick and choose what I like. It's like with Dune. You have this totally sub-par crap written by Brian Herbert and the Star-Wars-for-children writer K.J. Anderson, supposedly based on Frank Herbert's notes. And it's officially "canon". But does any serious fan who's actually understood the plots, characters and hints for the future in Heretics and in Chapterhouse, going to accept that garbage as a rightful continuation that makes sense? I'm saying no. I'm saying it's still fanfic, even if they write "canon" all over the book covers. And the situation is much the same except more complex with Star Wars, where there are many more writers adding their own ideas to the universe... at what point do you say "ok, this stuff has gotten out of hand, it's no longer the Star Wars I cared for"? So yeah... I guess if my ranting is to have a point, it's that what officially passes for"canon" doesn't mean as much as a lot of people seem to think it does. /end useless rant
  19. Yeah, even if there weren't, establishing the canonicity of a character's gender by a single pronoun in some obscure piece of related fiction doesn't really appeal to me. And from what I've read, the intention of the game creators for both K1 and K2 was to leave that question about the main protagonists of each up for the player to decide, anyway. So as far as I'm concerned, both Revan and the Exile are still Schroedinger's cats as far as gender goes.
  20. Ivan's words capture my problem with a nonobsidian Kotor continuation pretty well.
  21. Well, you can't really blame people for wanting to make money. What really irks me is that taking the -wrong- decisions from the point of view of quality earns more money than taking the right ones. Wonder how much blame is with the players for that...
  22. Just what exactly would make it "cool"? I think that maybe Revan has been retconned and mythologised so much in Kotor 2 that the only way to keep his awesomeness is through not showing too much... you know, less-is-more. If he's ever shown directly, or worse, if you get to play as him again, I suspect the experience probably won't live up to what by now is a legend. Unless Chris Avellone is doing the writing and manages to pull off another job as great as with Kreia.
  23. What Jediphile said. As to the mentor is villain cliche, it didn't strike me as such... can you please give other examples? I mean I'm sure you're right, I just can't think of them atm.
  24. And while we're here, can we have an official "yes, Kreia was Arren Kae, leave me alone already" please?
  25. Maybe a Consular just isn't meant to beat the Handmaiden Sisters or the Mandalorians... just as a low-wis Guardian/Warrior/Fighter/whatever isn't meant to unlock some of the more mental parts of a game. Although I would wish that the "status" Force powers were invisible to the surroundings. Just like in, say, Return of the Jedi, you don't see Luke buffing himself repeatedly with various Force Powers before he grabs the saber Artoo throws him, and starts killing Jabba's guards. A Jedi should be able to let the Force guide and enhance his movements (like when deflecting blaster fire) without anyone seeing anything special going on. It never made sense to me that everyone and their dog can tell that you're using the Force to enhance your performance/speed/reactions etc.
