  1. That power metal is decent, but... *That* is great power metal.
  2. This is becoming too interesting and innovative. Get back to the generic and the cliche, people. One of the characters has to find an elf-made sword of unfathomable power during the journey.
  3. Listening to Enlighten the Darkness by Angel Dust. One of the few concept albums I actually enjoy.
  4. After KotOR2 (not that it was obsid's fault), I don't think many people on these fora would disagree.
  5. So being an "plausibly denied" agent of US imperialism is better than being a unaccountable murderer and enemy of the people? Oh... wait... they're the same thing. Anyway, that video is old, I've seen it before. I love this guy.
  6. If using it offers greater functionality then of course you are going to be penalised by not using it. Whether or not you like the way it looks is irrelevant. Obviously, that's why I'm expressing my disappointment.
  7. For concealability, yes. For shooting things that are far away, they are pretty good. That is why there are many of them made for revolvers and semi-autos with a variety of mounting methods. It just needs to be an actual pistol scope set up with proper eye relief. I just don't want to be penalized in-game for not wanting something looking that ridiculous. A pistol with a scope isn't very spy-like, and honestly, it just looks goofy.
  8. Consequences look great. I love the way the plot seems to develop (intercepted email of Grigori selling you out is golden). This game just keeps looking better and better.
  9. Are there any missions in which the only weapon you can take is a pistol, due to its concealability?
  10. The pistol laser sight looks incredibly goofy. All I want is a simple laser sight mounted under the barrel. A pistol scope on a semi-auto looks very overkill.
  11. Can't believe this one hasn't been requested yet.
  12. Border of Reality by Angel Dust http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFBpp9r1OM8
  13. You need connery for Bond.
  14. Stagnant Progression - New Eden
  15. Revolvers are extremely practical and dead reliable. AP's firearms are a little on the "fantastical" side of realism, but video games in general tend to be pretty forgiving about how ammunition is loaded into weapons. You pick up endless magazines of ammunition and it magically gets sorted into full mags by the time you need to reload. Yippie! Yeah, right. But a real Agent would look silly when engaged into close combat, say within a house. I mean you get one shot with your revolver while your opponent can pour 7-8 shots with his Glock 19 into your direction in the same amount of time. Ever heard of a double action revolver?
  16. I don't know who or what Stardock is. Somebody mentioned online activation for patches, though? Well that's no better than any other form of online activation, is it? I'd certainly call that intrusive. But I also think Steam is intrusive (for exactly the same reason). I really don't like the concept of online activation. You wouldn't accept it for a music CD or a movie DVD, now would you? Funny that the champions for no-DRM implemented this then. Obviously they felt it was enough of a concern that if you wanted to patch your game, then you needed to do a quick validation in order to download the game. This discussion has nothing to do with CDs or movie DVDs. That's a red herring. Really, you only have to validate your game if you want to download additional content for it, and even then it's not restrictive at all.

  20. Graphics have really taken a jump forward since some of the earlier releases. Keep it up, obsid. The only graphical issue that bugged me at all was some of the lipsyncing.
  21. I'd like to see alerted enemies actively searching for Mike, and I'd like to see enemies in combat both using cover and attempting to flank mike so as to get a shot at him while he's in cover. Also, better reaction time, and less idiotic standing around.
  22. The i7 will come down in price pretty soon. My next comp is going to be an i7, probably a GTX 285, and tri-channel 6gb DDR3 1600.
  23. Thanks but, as I wrote, I did my research. Searching for further information doesn't quicken the time for Intel to release Core i5 CPU and for other makes to release compatible parts, for example. What I have to do is to wait till things are settled and, as I said, there is no hassle for me. Really, you won't want to buy an i5 the moment it comes out. It's good to stay one generation behind the top end of current technology, you get the best performance for your money that way.
  24. I actually had the opposite response. This is why I think working on real-world games with real-world problems and themes is important. People are more likely to take games seriously if they deal with actual problems instead of vaguely displaced angst. That's one of the parts I'm interested in about AP since RPGs are too often taken as mere escapism rather than some experiments about real world issues which make the players think. As far as I can remember, I think games which took the closest approach to this were Deus Ex series. However, I haven't upgraded my PC for so long time that I need to build/buy a new PC. After I made a brief research on this, I've found neither Intel or AMD has a clear roadmap and I guess I'd better wait till things including the upcoming Windows OS are settled. Since my current computer is still good enough for daily tasks, there is no need for me to hassle, either. I guess I'd better spend my time on other things than gaming for a while. Even if AP is released as scheduled, I'm probably not going to buy it, at least, till next year due to the "technical issue". newegg, google, and wikipedia are your friend if you're looking to build a computer.
