  1. On the other hand World Of Warcraft is halfway manga. Mirrors Edge was reminescent of manga designs, with its clear lines. The last Prince of Persia was very manga-like in its appearance. Its catching on, albeit slowly. Going back to the topic - Dragon Age so far looks passably good. I wish they could have tried a more mood setting graphical design like in the Witcher (gloomy, run down) rather than the standard fantasy fare, but we'll have to see more to pass judgment on that.
  2. Let me know how that turns out. I'm not seeing the manga/anime influence, they just look stupidly oversized, like they're made out of foam. And they swing them like baseball bats half the time. Missed a word there. Its a general influence on comics, movies and computer games. I see it in Dragon Age armor sets, (remind me of some Berserk ones) and weapons.
  3. That's what I'm saying. Its all down to the influence of manga on popular culture. These days, in fantasy, if you don't have a sword three times your size you just aint cool enough. God I *hate* manga.
  4. I think I'll start BGII again with a wild mage. Never tried that before. There's a pretty nice addon pack for the wild mage with extra craziness. I think it's this one. Nice... I'll check it out.
  5. Look at the heavy armor some characters are wearing, or the size of the weapons they're swinging around. I'm surprised they can actually move. I'm irritated by the manga appearance of some of those armors/weapons.
  6. Looked through some videos. Wonder why the character selection circles are so highly contrasted, its kind of distracting. Also the "passable" graphics look much better in isometric view, so I think I'll be playing this TPS out of combat, isometric in combat. One thing I noticed was the general ease of encounters, at least the ones seen in videos. Hopefully this wont apply to most encounters.

  8. The trick is you cant have unsactioned tournaments anymore because it will all go through battle.net now. As for before in SC times, when they were a fledgling studio they encouraged people to "spawn" multiple copies of SC to play on LAN. No one had any idea just how popular SC would become, hence, years later, they were probably crying over all the Korean tournaments they couldnt milk for cash. Now they are looking to capitalize on this as well, so they are ditching the LAN and the entire old setup and effectively "outlawing" all tournaments that arent hosted on bnet..
  9. Its not piracy, its keeping the tournament scene under Blizzards thumb. There are a lot of pro tournaments that Blizzard gets nothing from because of LAN, and thats why they ditched it. The piracy argument makes no sense whatsoever.
  10. I agree. An insta-kill trick for the retarded. For whom is VATS broken, though? I mean, if we polled the players, would most of them say they did or did not like VATS? Hell, my favorite aspect to target is the skill point pool, and I figure that it's 'broken,' but I don't think I've ever exactly put it that way. VATS is what VATS is. If folks use it as a win-button, fine. I don't think they will remove it, and they could very well leave it as it is. For my own part, I dislike the way it functions rather than its effect. I don't care if it makes the game easier. I'll be interested to see what happens. Will Obsidian go the Olympus Mons route and satisfy the players in the ivory tower or leave it as is for the hoi polloi? The majority of players are 13-15 year old kids who are trying to hide that they are playing this uber cool game, with like flying limbs and stuff from their parents. They'd swallow anything if it had a cherry on top. Hence, this game really needs to cater to us, the depraved, jaded, Fallout fans. That means they should ditch everything F3.
  11. Its a lie the Matrix wants you to believe. Listen to Maria, the tentacles are really there.
  12. She had tentacles for hair. Weird how that never came up in a conversation... My problem with her was that she didn't have tentacles in the important places.
  13. Its hard to say who is more bland Ashley or Carth Kaidan (they could have at least changed the name significantly) I couldn't care less for either of them. Liara was interesting, though she was about as alien as Mr. Spock.
  14. I agree. An insta-kill trick for the retarded.
  15. It's the attack/parry system that's a bit wacko in the beginning... to make your attack succeed, you must roll below your attack value... but regardless of your chance of success enemies will parry/dodge by simply rolling below their own parry/dodge value... making it technically possible for a beggar with a rusty dagger to beat a knight in heavy armor with a 2 metre claymore. But it is interesting since it makes mages at least as powerful in melee as soldiers/warriors... not to mention it makes every fight keeping you on your toes. There must be something to balance it out, I never saw inferior enemies parrying more successfully than my PC.
  16. So the entire package, up to SoZ its the best ever?
  17. That's totally true. Read the manual to understand ANYTHING. I liked the camera, it was like NWN2 only functional. I used the WASD for movement and the mouse for small corrections to the camera. As for the combat rules I don't think you need to understand them at all, the corresponding attributes are highlighted when you look at a weapons skill so what you need to invest in becomes obvious... Its all fairly simple with nonmagic characters, as for magic ones, I havent tried one yet.
  18. Yes I recall listening to Chiasm - Isolated, obsessively, here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kne67pSaALg...=PL&index=6
  19. I agree, its a step in a good direction. Mhm, I love actual singing in music in games, a pity its so rare.
  20. Playing a stupid game like Diablo II on insane difficulty is an epic waste of time. The only thing you could get out of it is a broken mouse. There, you got my Razer all riled up now.... calm down, my precious On topic, I'm looking forward to SC II even with the irritating cartoony graphics.
  21. Neither was I. Then again the only thing I hate more than Star Wars is Star Trek so no surprise there.
  22. Trial and error has nothing to do with you repeating things. There were quite a few times when I didn't know where to go and the game grinded to a halt. I had the most fun with the fighting, I didn't really like the running stuff, especially when you had limited time. Their complaint was that it was too easy to die and they had to repeat parts until they got it right. I say this is bs. I stopped only two or three times, not knowing where to go otherwise its pretty obvious and intuitive, not to mention that 90% of the time you just need to look for the red places. I liked the running more, I kept the fighting strictly melee to finish the game without killing anyone.
  23. Aww I want one as well, on the pic below.... Does anyone have the letters at least?
  24. Just finished Mirrors Edge. The reviewers who said its "too much trial and error" were full of it, since only the last level could see you repeating things too often. The game is fluid, the graphics great, the music is wonderful and overall the game is very very good. The average ratings dont do it justice.
