  1. Yeah, that's the one. The racing mission was near impossible and you also had to get the car there in time without damaging it. The story was really awesome with a great ending. It wasn't impossible but hard, don't be a casual gaming peasant. Yes, the ending was fantastic, the shootouts with the tommy gun were incredibly intense, the voice acting was top notch, the missions sensible, the story as good or better than most movies of the sort... That and Max Payne is all you need to see in the world of third person action games.
  2. Yahtzee would say: ****ty brown and gunmetal gray. Still the first Mafia was one of the best third person action games i've ever played, so this one will get a spin for sure.
  3. Rosa Luxemburg, bitch. Look it up. I study political theory/international relations. I was just being mildly insulting
  4. I think its been explained 50 times on this thread why there is no LAN in the game, and it has nothing at all to do with piracy.
  5. The Trotsky, anarcho syndicalist references and general political aptitude did it for me. oooo that came of as sexist
  6. Okay, DMC3 was sadistically difficult (on easy, on the PS2). I liked it for that, though its possibly the only game I didn't have the patience to get through, on account of having to repeat sections to no end. I heard the PC version was more balanced. DMC 4 was cakewalk. Possibly the right difficulty is somewhere in between, and if Bayonetta is there that part will be fine. The fact that it was made by the DMC series guy explains all the flash, and insane combat moves. Still it might be just me, but all the graphical wankery is getting really old. You inspired me to find the DMC 3 music though
  7. No, I'm talking about the all style no substance phenomenon. The video is a mess of flashy colors under fifteen layers of shaders with incredibly overdone characters and what looks like mash-buttons-to-look-cool gameplay. That might not be the case, but recent experience tells me that when a game looks easy and simplistic it usually is. *cough* God of War *cough* Devil May Cry 4 ...sigh... Its just that they are trying too hard to make the player feel cool these days. Like in Crysis - it wasnt enough that the enemies were stupid and easy to kill (on hard) but they had to add super strenght, invisibility, bullet time and whatnot to appeal to all those who think actual skill is an obstacle to enjoying a game. Rant over.
  8. The original running on the Duke Nukem 3D Build Engine was much better imho. Never played it, though I'll give it a shot as soon as I'm finished dying excessively.
  9. Well there is an easy way to end this discussion Crashgirl, as the only woman insane enough to waste your time here, do tell us if you wish the 4 steamy sex scenes cut from Alpha Protocol?
  10. If you're role playing a suave spy in the James Bond style its mandatory. It goes with the established genre. Alpha Protocol is a halfway spoof on the spy genre (like the opening box thing with the entire arsenal of the army of the peoples republic of china), and in the context it makes for perfect role playing sense. However if you want to be Bourne, a no nonsense professional, you can be - and skip the sex. Its the fault of previewers getting a boner at the mention of virtual sex and neglecting to mention other aspects of the game.
  11. But that's cool. it'll teach them to be less stupid and naive in real life and know that nothing is for certain, and that relationships dont work the way they suppose them to. There is a good lesson in that frustration.
  12. ha, and the article get to this towards the end: "For all the player's "choice" of with whom to engage, there's no possibility that the player might want to have a relationship with another man. It also shows that lesbians just don't exist in this world, if every single woman is open to a sexual encounter with a man." How the hell is that relevant? What agenda is the author actually rooting for? Sorry but the article is baseless ranting reinforced by the total ignorance of the man writing it about the actual content of Alpha Protocol. We'll in fact know how well this fits into the game when we play it. No sooner.
  13. Actually its not always a reward. In the gothic games you paid 50 gold coins for a hooker and were rewarded with an FMV video. And thats it. It was just another thing you could do in the game. Vampire Bloodlines started with a sex scene. Indigo Prophecy had you playing guitar for your ex girlfriend which resulted in relatively a unexpected sex scene. In fact its not always obivous that you age getting any (see Velvet). And even when it is, it requires you to make an effort to get to it, which is in essence the same as real life. Its a caricature of real life to be sure, but it has a sense to it. Although in some games you have to make more of an effort than in real life
  14. Velvet Velour in Vampire Bloodlines was a prime example. She effectively promised sex, while getting you to run errands, and when you did all her dirty work she said: okay baby, don't call me, I'll call you. So there you have it, a vampire biaitch using us poor men. Now I'm gonna write a kilometer long rant about it and get CNN to back me up, and call for a retroactive KKK burning of Bloodlines discs.
  15. Really? Okay, okay; I get it in context, but as a general statement I'm not sure I'd agree. All I'm saying is: Whats the point of raising a ruckus when the guy who is writing the article goes 3 hours later to bed with his wife? in whose name is he doing this? Is his wife complaining that Geralt bedded a record number of women? I think not. When I get an actual women in large numbers complaining that games are doing them wrong I'll even consider this argument. In fact to continue the witcher analogy, I've read reviews from women who enjoyed playing Geralt immensely, and were quite diligent in getting all the cards. So ultimately, its all baseless ranting.
  16. All of the people that write these sort of articles dont go to bed with anything other than their hand. Sex, like life in general is to be taken lightly. To make an issue out of it shows personal insecurities and frustrations in the person that's ranting. Same goes for anyone who bashed the Witcher or Mass Effect or any other game that included it. Its a joke, f-ing entertainment - just like it is in real life for christ's sakes. Sex is good, and in the right videogame it fits. it fit in the GTA mindset, it fit in Mass Effect and it fit in the Witcher. To take a thing that isnt serious by itself seriously is a serious flaw. Seriously.
  17. Finally after years of senseless slaughter of everything from headcrabs to mutant zombie nazis I get some tit.s in a game. The US game industry is progressing! Its been a long wait but its been worth it Maybe we can get a Geralt cameo while we're at it, and SIE gets to pick one of them. Geralt wins. Flawless victory.
  18. What do you expect - the typewriters they smashed through were expensive to replace
  19. I was inspired by Yahtzee, but I've broadened his original definition It still includes console gamers peasants
  20. *cough* Fallout *cough* Yeah, they really screwed that one up, getting rave reviews and pulling in tons of cash. The horror! Oblivion got rave reviews and tons of cash.
  21. That Bayonetta video induces epic boredom. Cant think what the game is like. As it stands I think the next hit in gaming is an "I win" button, so the various casual gaming peasants don't get a heart attack when they actually lose in a game.
  22. Blood 2: the chosen. Its an old FPS in the vein of Painkiller but I like it since its totally unforgiving. I think I die once per minute of play. nothing like a good challenge.
  23. *cough* Fallout *cough*
  24. After that all thats left is to upload my personality and integrate myself with the Obsidian AI. And screw up everything In case you havent noticed posts alternate between two different shades of gray so its impossible to match them both. Get off your lazy ass and make one of your own, so we can have something to argue about.
