Yeah, did you really expect otherwise? Yes? What engine should Obs use then? Remember they have one year to make this game. Personally I don't think the engine of FO3 was it's problem. I remember reading up that the Gamebryo engine was problematic and becoming outdated, but since I cant quote anything specific thats all I can say. Okay lets let the engine thing slide, though I suppose they are more proficient in the proprietary engine used in AP.

Pripyat is one of the coolest places on earth. Its a completely empty city, and the radiation levels are low enough to take a 3 day tour of it. Those who have been there say its incredibly eerie, though most go because of the zone from the movie Stalker. If you played Call of Duty 4 you've been there too.. Mhm, I know, though the action went by too fast to appreciate the atmosphere.

Well since I was too late to campaign for Dragon Age I might as well start here. For starters NO ROMANCES. The only romance I want in a post apocalyptic world is a sweaty whore in some rickety western style brothel. Secondly tit.s. As in they should be included along with all sorts of wanton nudity. We can censor it out later for the US crowd. Thirdly, an animal companion aka a dog would be nice, if the damn thing doesn't get itself killed every two minutes. Four, tone down on the teenage violence of Fallout 3. People don't bleed like a squeezed, punctured water filled condom. Five, dont give into the cool **** amusement park approach of Bethesda. Make the world cohesive, not a cascade of moronic concepts that dont belong together. Six, story and characters (check) Seven, fix the shooting if you're making a shooter. Eight, include a third person over the shoulder view that one can actually use in combat. What good is a cool mad max style leather jacket if I dont see it? Nine, think of adding some dirt effects on the PC like in TR Underworld (minor but cool) Ten, ditch VATS or overhaul it. Eleven dont leave plasma rifles and power armor and tons of other high tech military hardware on everyone's dinner table. Make it endgame material. Make bullets relatively scarce. Twelve, lots of random encounters. Thirteen, less combat more talky.

Wait, is this really going to be like F3, as in first person, same engine, same system?

Its an excellent action RPG and very fun to play. Nothing to do with BG at all though, except being set in the city. Its in fact similar to gauntlet from the Dreamcast and you play it coop with a friend hacking and slashing around in well designed dungeons. Its good, mindless fun. With a friend that is.

Favorite RTS and why do you like it

And Relic is the god of Real Time Strategy. That's a company I'd like to work for. Along with Bungie prior to the Halo horror. -
It's all Boo, otherwise we probably wouldn't have anything to talk about. @Boo: If you don't want to support that kind of content, don't. Why argue about it? Because I help the forums to stay alive? or maybe its a contest with Volourn?

No wonder you're such an ass Greets to a colleague.

And Dragon Age has an oppressed minority that's forced to take the poorest jobs and have little to no legal rights. It sounds like they're including an issue there. That's very good and is a plus of sorts. Let me just note again that the declining quality of their games is the ultimate turnoff for me, all of these things just add insult to injury.
-
Because its not about supporting important issues. Its about "if you're including them include something meaningful, and dont try to justify pure appeasement as a charity of sorts". I appreciate that you have a stake in this, but I don't, in fact i cant relate at all, and hence cant stomach the fact that it was a priority of sorts for the developers. Call me selfish, but since this is about spending money (fairly limited in my case), I don't see myself supporting this sort of content, which as you yourself not ehas been increasing on game to game basis. Games which, plus (in my opinion) are worse with each installment.
-
*shrugs* If I am its with good reason. Plus as a student of international relations/politics its my job to read up on these issues daily. Amongst other things I have in a upcoming exam your country as well and the issue of the 1993. laws that took away the citizenship, and voting rights of the 25% strong Russian minority, along with the Narva issue. So, yes this sort of s.hit is all over the place and I feel more strongly about it than I do about gay rights.
-
There are tons of ways to raise serious issues in games. Grand Theft Auto for all its juvenile characteristics has a quite scathing social commentary. That said, raising serious issues is not at all a requirement, games after all are entertainment. I'm not judging the minorities, whoever they are. I'm judging the absurd explanation given by a developer, that reflects a terribly ignorant world view.
-
I would have thought sarcastic comments of this sort were beneath you. I can see where you are coming from, but do try to see my point as well.
-
I disagree. Its about appeasing a very vocal and pushy number of fans, which was justified to me by David Gaider himself as being (in a nutshell) an opportunity for oppressed people to play a character they could identify with. Which is all fine and dandy, except for the fact that there are millions upon millions of oppressed people, for reasons much much worse than sexual preference. Coming from a place with a host of issues, each more terrible than the other I fail to see the relevance of Gaider's explanation and I completely fail to sympathise.
-
How would addressing more serious topics in a fantasy setting be less options or less roleplaying? The Witcher had a crude and simplistic way of doing it, but at least they tried. If you want to do social commentary of a sort there is a host of issues that would take precedence over homosexual romances.
-
And supporting gay rights is?
-
Mhm, its that policy of appeasement that infuriates me. It doesn't matter which minority gets their fill (as far as I am concerned), what does is the sucky self righteous way the people in Bioware go about it. I raise the issue and they talk about oppression and what not. Canadians talking about oppression... to someone whose country has gone through 4 wars in the last century + 1 US bombing, three complete devastations, and 3 total economic collapses, situations such as not having enough money to buy bread, the possibility of being stabbed just so someone could get your new sneakers or jacket, or merely catching a stray bullet from the mutual slaughter of local gangsters... sorry but its LAME. No, actually its insulting. I can appreciate that a society can come to the point where gay rights are the only topic of interest, but that's not the way the rest of the world works. If they want to appease the oppresed there are a whole lotta people standing in line from south america to Indonesia

Some information on some of the joinable NPCs or other people you meet in the game. Nice...
-
Put it up on ebay, you could get up to 200$ for it.
-
No you arent, by this time we've seen 50 clips from Dragon Age and Risen, the other major RPGs and they are coming out at the same time. I dont get why we dont see more of Alpha Protocol either.
-
I agree.

Baldurs Gate is a masterpiece in a game as game way. Torment is a game as art. They don't offer the same experience at all, in fact they complement each other with either one having what the other lacks. No use comparing games that are required playing anyway. Add Fallout and you've basically seen the entire genre.
