Yargh, where were we... now, Playing FFXII was so boring I didnt finish it, (as well as having my fill of androgynous main characters) as for FFX its not an rpg but a movie with a whole lot of random encounters. Still I liked the characters and the story (a lot), and the wonderful art design. As well as the music. Its included under RPG for the lack of a better gender definition. X-2 was beyond horrible, I choose to disregard its existence. I've also played FFIV, FFVII and FFVIII and all of them bored me to tears even though they had a lot going for them. Sorry to say but Gothic III is unforgivably bad. The story sucks, the quests suck, the combat doesn't work just like most of the mechanic, its buggy, it rapes my hard drive for no good reason, it offers no improvements over the Gothic II formula, merely screwing it up further ... Too many things going against it. However the graphics are great and the music is great too, and its got a certain charm - thats why its even mentioned. It has a hell of a lot more charm than Oblivion but Oblivion is, when all is said and done a functional game. A bland, stupid, but functional game. So their respective failings shove them into the same category. It should be noted that RPGs which didn't even make the list (such as POR2) are considered either beyond terrible or Diablo clones, so there is a worse place to be than in the "terrible" category As for Jade Empire, apart from having the worst gameplay ever seen in an RPG it does have nice art direction, a story of sorts and characters. Unlike NWN. -

Farenheit was a great idea that could have worked perfectly just as an ordinary thriller, without much of the supernatural crap. Still Heavy Rain looks to be better. I like playing these sort of games from time to time to relax, but I wouldnt want every game to become a movie with quick time events.

Show this to Will Wright and the next Sims will be unplayable. And sell better than the previous one.

Where are the legendary "Descent into Undermountain" and "Ruins of Myth Drannor"?! They are the Un-mentionables or the Forget-we-existed category -
Finished Batman Arkham Asylum demo. For all its fantastic polish, animation and voice acting the game comes off as terribly shallow. All the challenge consists of pressing one appropriate button whether it is to grapple, fight or see enemies through walls. If this is more or less the gameplay the entire game revolves around then Batman isnt for me, though I can see people liking it for the great presentation.

Its a nice bite sized rant, so I dont have to write war & peace every time. Its not about the dialog, its about the system being exactly the same, just using a different shape. It shows that all the dialogue wheel "innovation" is a baloney. It did do one thing however, it made things easier for people who equate reading to medieval torture. -
You forget that you have tons of experience in abusing the system, and that the game is cakewalk for you now after so many playthroughs. I remember getting my ass kicked plenty of times on my first playthrough, until I got the hang of the system. After that just like in any other game when you get the hang of the system, you rape the game to kingdom come.

I was thinking on how to fix VATS. First of all, why does VATS suck? Because its a specific part of Fallout 1/2 made for sharpshooting/expert melee characters in turn based combat shoehorned into a real time game. The mechanic was simple, in a pool of action points you cold sacrifice a point or two extra for a chance to get something special in return, like a disabling shot or instant kill. Often it meant making one attack per round only instead of two untargeted ones. So you gave more to, potentially recieve more. In Fallout 3 you gave nothing, for an often instant kill button, which invalidated the entire idea. Now there are two ways I see this can be fixed: 1. Make the points required to go into VATS mode, much harder to get - so it cant be abused. 2. Retain the same system, but put pressure on the player with an ATB Final Fantasy like system where you have limited time to choose your option (like you're doing with AP dialogue now). 3. Take both of these together? To make it more challenging... + Other complaints: 4. kill animatons must be shorter, skippable and less cartoony 5. the action should not go on in real time, in the background when you character is firing leading to potential retaliation from enemies since it turns the entire concept into another bullet time for no good reason.

I think everyone here (me included probably) repeats their opinions on every RPG, several times a day. This could be because we talk about the same 10-15 titles all the time. For example, did you know that Volourn's favorite is NWN? No? Really? So, to avoid pointless arguments I'm just going to include the "Good, the Bad and the Ugly" in my sig and anyone who is willing to dispute them can just go and... -

It was, and I was merely commenting on it cloning KOTOR (while losing just about everything that game did good). Don't take it too seriously, it was written to be light entertainment For the record its BG/BGII>KOTOR>Jade Empire>ME>NWN in my book. -

25 hours of gameplay - and I believe it. At least they are honest. -
Fourteen, the dog can be a radroach. I want a radroach. Fifteen, I want to see the more menial aspects of post apocalytic life explored. People farming, going through their chores, surviving - not writing survival guides about what happens when you step on a mine for christs sake. Sixteen, the ability for my PC to sit in a bar and sip whiskey while surrounded by all the scum of the wastelands - a die hard post apocalyptic atmosphere. Seventeen, at least one well done minigame like the Witchers dice poker (with the AI upgrade). Perhaps real poker with the mentioned scum? Eighteen, more people in towns less frenzy in the wasteland. F3's wasteland suffered from severe overpopulation for a nuclear devastation site. Nineteen This> "Less area, more content" ... I'll keep this coming.... might nail it onto the door of a church some day

*scraps plans for rust monsters in f:nv* Well they can be companions and nibble on my power armor from time to time. There is a legendary european post apocalyptic comic - Jeremiah, that you can rape for visual and story inspiration (you might remember it by the ****ty US tv series of the same name, that was supposedly inspired by the comic): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiah_%28comics%29
