I'm playing it now as well as a Kensai on Hard. Still got a bit of Irenicus dungeon to go through.

Its never about impact. He's had enough of everything and just decided to go out with a bang. Btw its not a terrorist attack. Its just desperation.

I always liked Pharaoh more.

Unreasonable or not, it always turns out that pirated games take less hassle to set up. No DRM scheme can be called useful if it actually helps the problem its trying to solve. It was an uphill battle from the start, and its getting more ridiculous in each new DRM idea that turns up. I guess in the long run it will just screw up PC gaming even more. Its like the publishers would choose to crash and burn rather than to tolerate a certain percentage of "free rides". Its like installing an advanced security system and complex procedures to make sure that the local kids don't sneak into the cinema and see your movie for free. Not that I care much, perhaps gaming could use a reboot. maybe actually having giants like EA, Activision etc. kick the bucket would break the depressingly stale gaming scene.

Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 Will Not Have LAN Support
RPGmasterBoo replied to Magister Lajciak's topic in Computer and Console
I watched an hour and a half report on the beta at gamespot. My major gripe were the cartoony graphics as well as units looking somewhat crappy. However looking at the gameplay, static pictures don't do the units and buildings justice. There's a lot of animations, practically everything on the screen moves around and overall the game looks pretty good. The zerg look a bit crappy but thats to be expected with the asymmetrical buildings and organic design. -
Right, time to watch the South Park episode on whaling.

Purk... I'd like to see it with all the name, the same factions etc... Perhaps EA would get Firaxis to do it...

You didn't understand me. I want a remake, just not EA teams working on it.

It was quite clear what he meant to say I just remembered Heart of Winter. Yeah, it sucked. Tried to install ID2, but couldn't get it to work with the widescreen mod.

You took the words out of my mouth. I'm dying for a remake of AC. Alpha Centauri is an EA IP. NO I DONT WANT A REMAKE NOOOOOOOOOOOO

That's pushing it a bit. Drakensang has no characters to speak of and the plot has no depth at all. That said I am having trouble continuing DA. I might even give up on it, which would make it the first Bio game I didn't finish. When is the int version coming out? Yeah its all been pretty bland ever since the first NWN. They must have fired the people who designed the hand painted backgrounds for BG series. -

Drakensang is in some aspects an excellent game. Its got one of the best graphical designs ever seen in an RPG (better thought out and designed world than the much more expensive DA for example) and a very nice system to drive the game. Its extremely polished and functional as well. However the plot was mind numbingly generic and so were the quests which is why I ultimately gave up on it. I still rate it highly however, which is why I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel/prequel. -
An interesting article about piracy

Really? No game retailers here take PC games as trade-in. I would also say that the 2nd hand market is more a console problem. I know, but it's not really amusing. Same happened with Stardocks patches. There is no other rational explanation for it. Not only does it not stop pirates, it also makes their version of the game more enjoyable. That's like doing them a favor. -
Its my first Stalker game so I'm probably feeling the novelty more than most. Also some people might not be as ready to forgive the general low quality of the story and scripted events but I think the free roaming makes up for it.

Finished Stalker: CoP. Like mkreku said, the final mission and the ending is underwhelming crap. The epilogue that follows is great. A major disappointment is the lack of any explanation on what the Zone is - basically it finishes like most military shooters. Perhaps the problem is that the game quite directly states that you're on a military mission, while at the same time you put yourself in the mindset of the Stalkers, meaning you start caring more about the Zone and its mysteries then you do about the generic main quest. Then when you get no resolution on that, you feel let down. Overall its a clunky game with many brilliant moments, particularly leading up to Pripyat. Pripyat is freaky and frightening but its somewhat lessened by the fact that you've got the best gear, best artifacts and in short - you're all but unstoppable. Somehow you're lead to believe that something mysterious and powerful lies in Pripayt yet its never revealed/explored. In my official review I gave it 85, and overall I think its a great game in what's otherwise a rather shallow genre. In atmosphere I find it reminescent of the first Half Life, a real breath of fresh air. It has officially kicked Bioshock off the pedestal of my favorite new millenium shooter. Bioshock is more polished, but Stalker s got soul. @mkreku: did you figure out the mercenaries were all about?? also

Yeah, starforce is a case of clever boycott and a disinformation campaign by the warez crowd. It caused problems occasionally with people's drives but when it worked it wasn't much of a hassle. Although those guys were **** and had it coming. They published a direct torrent link on their forum for a game that refused to use their copy protection.
