Weapon Mastery Acquisition is sub-optimal
ScritchOwl replied to ArkTolei's topic in Grounded: Feedback & Suggestions
I don't think there is a problem with the method per say but I do think they need to allow the improvement of weapons from different sources than just kills. Such as targets You could make one out of dry grass, rope, sap. Then you can shoot, throw or wack the targets. The target will go to a destroyed state after so much damage which triggers a faux kill tick. This can be repaired to be used again. For people who say it needs to be a kill you can max it out now on grubs aphids and gnats. What's the difference -
Don't forget the house centipede if you go in the shed or indoors. Though these guys can be freed with same adversion that spiders give people. Maybe it's them legs or the fact that the jump on prey like a face hugger while beating it to death..........no it's them legs Excerpt from the wiki It may often be seen darting across floors with very great speed, occasionally stopping suddenly and remaining absolutely motionless, presently to resume its rapid movements, often darting directly at inmates of the house, particularly women, evidently with a desire to conceal itself beneath their dresses, and thus creating much consternation.

rafts/pontoon boat.
ScritchOwl replied to Boneless pizza's topic in Grounded: Feedback & Suggestions
You kinda get a stationary version. I think a canoe would be better as it can be carried if needed rather than a permanent fixture. Although a pontoon would have an advantage of allowing combat while in use -
Well the deal for ants would be pulling a wagon/sled. They wouldn't be faster but would carry more. The balancing perspective would be them being targeted by spiders or any new mob, no water transversal. As far as bees go. Simple add in finches or dragonflies. airborne predators do target them. Also bees like the ants serve a hive. They would have a decay timer for when they need to return home. Ladybugs as a mount would be interesting as they do not give, they are solitary but do accept others around them. This would be a good mob for flight as you can reduce flight time because of increased rate and they would have to recharge. Or convert the now less useful lure to waystations that would allow a ladybug fast travel

Hmm for the construction that looks to be feasible with in game resources 4+acorn shells 4 stems 2 bug rubber 1 berry leather Ammo
-
Thou if you want artillery making water balloons with bug rubber filled with acid(burn), sap(slow), honeydew (aggro on target) Then make one of those giant sling shots that took two people holding it and the person firing

I keep seeing these pop up. For what purpose. I mean even with the wheels they aren't mobile for the terrain. Most enemies would be to mobile as the aiming of one of these took effort from usually 2-3 full grown men. I mean yes if they were in the game I would obliterate a aphid given the chance but these or 80's kids and they wouldn't be ready for this

I wouldn't say let any of the current bugs crawl into our bases. Well except one. The orb weavers are known for beautiful webs. Why not have them use towers (I build them for Zipline stops) or castles to build webs. They don't have to even be that hostile (unless they intercept a zipline) and just catch flying mobs like bees, gnats and mosquitos. I could see centipedes and mantis climbing over low level walls leading to a need of spike strips......though aphids kill those in my game
-
I'm not gonna lie those would be overkill to the extreme with the current mobs. Once you unlock ladybug armor and the brood mother club no mob has much of a chance no matter your skill level. Now if they introduced enemies you had to drive off like Fifi the Pummelranian or a Wren/chickadee that will go to your bases and try to steal nesting materials

Ha. I love the city of spiders idea. Albeit I am picturing a hybrid of a DND campaign and the movie eight legged freaks. One of the residents could be the tarantula species that keeps a frog as a pet to guard it's eggs

Ok the first is let us plant dandelion seeds. We get so many but nothing we can do with them other than gliders. Second is to let us grow slime mold. Now other possibilities is to allow irrigation to increase yields or cultivation of fertilizers beyond spoiled meats to increase yields

Suggested Game Ideas From Fans
ScritchOwl replied to Benjamin North's topic in Grounded: Feedback & Suggestions
Just saying bats wouldn't work. You are way to small. They could add them as a theme but since you roughly the size of soldier ant and when crawling on all fours you just wouldn't be worth the time. Your around .76 cm. Bow if they include aerial combat like you riding a moth, bee or ladybug it could be interesting to fire arrows at one to make a bat to back of but in the end they would be immortal as their is nothing you an do at your size -

Jumping & Hauling Improvements?
ScritchOwl replied to ufologan's topic in Grounded: Feedback & Suggestions
For the outpost on the lamp just build an elevated zip on the oak tree then build a wall anchor on the others side then send as much grass and stems across as needed -
@PliantWalkJojoyeah that's kinda what sourdough bread is. Save leavening from one batch and kneed it into the next batch. Also if they combined meat wouldn't that make getting spoiled meat more problematic
-
I dunno I guess you have never seen the meat at taco bell. There not the only ones who do that. There is a restaurant that has a perpetual stew that's been simmering for 45 years and Tootsie roll does a similar thing with the candies
-
That wouldn't be to bad better than the idea that everybody sees a HUD because google glass was successful instead of laughed at
-
Though I will say if the scab projected the minimap ala dead space HUD. That display was the best non immersion breaking minimap I have seen in a game. As it makes you have to stop for it but also let's the environment interact with you
-
The compass update for the scab should be a free upgrade burgle provides when you upright him. Really no reason not to have the direction on the interface. As far as the minimap goes that kind goes against the survival aspect of the game. Your supposed to be using the landmarks of the game for navigation not having it provided to you as a screen overlay

Yeah it's a definite disclaimer for non imitation especially since the game specifically calls it an edible mushroom. I mean yeah it's what was ate buy the Norseman to create the myth of flying reindeer. Also to be fair the LBM in this game is more than likely toxic as well. It's similar to size of a Deadly Galerina which given the name must taste like delicious bacon and eggs........that is a joke. However it is rather odd they went with these two. The problem with an actual edible mushroom is that many would be the size of a juice box. The probably reason for these two selections is probably Minecraft's mushroom bioms

I see alot of post trying to add elements that would detract from the what kids are capable of. So I say lean into the aesthetic this game already has. Let's go to camp. Things to see added Archery targets-made of dry grass these items will grant a buff if you hit the bullseye for the day. Increased damage with projectiles Canoes-just an alternate method of transversing water without having to deal with waterborne foes. Bon Fire-collect stems and dry grass to make a large fire that will keep bugs away. Must be refueled every so often. Billy hog roasted-whats a bon fire without roasting some I am pretty sure it used to be meat by products Marshmallows-can be harvested by cutting. Chunks can either be roasted or used underwater to float objects to the surface. The Blob- a large air bladder that would be made of leather and rubber. It floats on the water. Anyone on it will be bounced if something lands on it while the are on it. Get creative with ziplines to see how far you can launch a friend. Merit badges-these are items of accomplishment. They are earned by either going above and beyond the game scope such as using a trampoline under an aphid to see if he can be a cosmonaut when you smack the grassblade he is on or see how many shovel hits it takes to beat a wolf spider. Fishing- use bait to reel in mosquito larvae and other oddities Stewpot-using the chefs secret recipe combine food items and certain non foods to get better items. Like spider chunks and water would snow spider legs. Mmm pass the butter substitute. Wood shop-use skills to make better buildings and tools. Maybe a two person saw for faster harvesting husky weeds. Spiked Palisades to reflect back damage. Wooden helmet nearly indestructible makes you stun proof but increases your heat so you get thirsty much faster. Softball gear- you can get a nice little outfit to go with the wooden helmet that increases you running speed while not holding a weapon. A glove that acts as a shield and a ball that can be thrown like a pebblet being hucked but flys farther faster and can deal more damage. Ghost stories with burgle. He will tell you stories at night that give a little insight to what happened to the different labs such as Whose eating who(muscle sprout themed), the breach(explains the pink footsteps leaving oak lab), The New assistant was a real Fungi(Haze lab story), Secrets from the dark web(the brood mother's attack on the hedge lab), and last but not least [REDACTED] Throw in a sleeping bag-a storable lean too and your set

My wife suggested these. Baskets that can be attached to zip lines so you can send inventory level items this way you can continue exploring after a berry or clay harvest trip. Bug basket. A cute little basket that your pet can ride with you on a Zipline with. Bonus if aphids make death screams from going too fast but aren't hurt of course
