Beating the dragon dude wasn't too difficult, mainly because it's just one enemy. My problems with magic users arises when there's more than one of them. When it's just one, I can throw everything my party's got at them. But whenever it's more than one, I find that one of them gets off his stuff before I have a chance to neutralize all of them, and it's usually an annoying spell that either stuns, paralyzes, or confuses my party. And yes, I really do suck at counter and defensive spells. Ah. So good thing the last boss is just a single magic user ?

He'll fail plenty of times before one stray Disintegrate saves all his problems.

Still torn each day between playing XCOM and Deus EX:HR, and now Uncharted 3 MP with its Classic and Dark Souls DLC that finally appeared on consoles will make my decision even more difficult. I might just end up playing everything a little, like an hour each.

Hmm do aliens get better faster if you cheat with them? Or is it tied to time spent and/or your actual tech level? edit: meh. It would be a real cheat if rookies could use their armor, weapons could wait for research, but rookies with that armor would be fun

Exact same thing happened to me. I watched four guys, who'd been with me from the beginning, get wiped out during the ufo landing mission. For the first time in over a decade I was yelling at the monitor as I watched them fall. argh. I'm thinking I should restart and manage assets a little better. Or use cheats to summon the 4 great XCOM heroes.

Hmm as much as i've ruled in tactical combat, i've messed strategically. I'll just start a new game and try to salvage the first one some other day.

If i use 2 assaults i have 1 with rifle too. And they run around closely together for maximum effectiveness.

Hahahahaha. Sectoids, Thin men and Floaters all grouped together and i don't have Heavy with rocket or even anyone with a grenade to massacre them. Instead i get massacred. xDD

I'm still thinking about pledging, good thing i have time until mid-november.

XCOM, but i'm thinking about DX:HR at the same time. It's funny. I actually got really into DX when XCOM finally arrived. :/ And now i can't decide if i should play both or just one.

how far away from a squadie does squad sight work? because i haven't been able to use it yet. it's funny, but so far (which is not very far ) my Support troops are the deadliest. Sure the Heavy has most kills (2 more than best support) but he startd in tutorail. alan i noticed but i'm not very far yet, i think i've completed just 7 missions, so i'm still gathering resources.

I think i need to stop capturing aliens on every mission i go to. I'm getting everyone hurt a lot. No deaths but almost everyone is out for at least a week.

The combat in F:T is average and not good.

You obviously missed the fact that OE got it wrong when they posted that update and wrote 14 at first.

Well mods are out of question for me for now, since i'm playing it on PS3. I need to upgrade my rig and OS to play it on PC. :/ But it should have a better reason to upgrade than just a few great games. :/

New guns are fine. I want a normal ammo super assault rifle. Plasma and lasers are fine but nothing beats kinetic projectiles in coolness. ( in my head at least, and i haven't played that much. So i don't really know what kinds of guns are available in the game. )

There's always a town around a stronghold. Just on the same map. :D Where do you think money will come from? I doubt they have money trees there, or do they?

Hurlshot , On PC maybe, Valkyria Chronicles on PS3 was a good tactical game too. Infact it might even have influenced XCOM too.

Well, they have to start somewhere. But it's more hit than miss, at least their system, if not the actual shooting the game. They've set a good base to build on.
