  1. As everyone else has said, take your own games for that. Leave the few real RPG's we have left to us AS RPG's.
  2. I gained as much infleunce as I could with him, and it was enough to get him to be a Jedi. but never a shield.
  3. 85% of the time my only dialog option with Bao Dur was "Never Mind" another 5% of the time, would be random conversations and after everyone I would always get "gained influence; Bao Dur" so I know I had as much influence with him as I could (turned him into a Gaurdian) the last 10% of the game ( ) he would say something had changed, but he didn't want to talk about it. I never had the option of having him make shields for me. But it didn't really matter, because the only shield I ever used was a Mandalorian power shield ( ) All other shields I sold at the begining of the game when I still thought I would need money, at the end of the game I broke them all down for components to make useful stuff.
  4. Why don't you just max out your INT, and then use implants and belts to make up for your DEX, STR, and CON. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Items that affect your INT don't affect your skill points per level. And I am actually playing a Sentinel right now with maxed int (he's gonna be a blaster Jedi, and use Snipere Shot, so I wanted high INT) pretty fun so far, but I am still just starting.
  5. Nope. I got the old colors, and lighter versions of (most of) those colors, but no darker colors.
  6. I was level 28 at the end. But just barely, like 15 minutes before the end.
  7. I got into the cave before I had my Prestige class, I went in before I even had my lightsaber. It was the first planet I went to, and i got my butt kicked in there, but I did get in. It more likely has something to do with your LS/DS alignment than your prestige class.
  8. I just don't like the way Obsidian hid the plot behind closed curtains. It doesn't matter if your LS or DS, they hide the plot from you anyways. Some conversations you have to be LS to get, others you have to be DS, and none of them really fit in the tone of the rest of the Star Wars universe. In KOTOR (the original) despite it having a lot of differences from the OT movies, the prequal movies, the comics, or the EU books it still felt like Star Wars. This game just doesn't have that feeling, at least IMO.
  9. Have you not finished the game? On the last level I must have killed 500 people carrying Lighsabers, some of them carrying two sabers, and one with 4 different lightsabers. Not really that exclusive.
  10. If it makes you feel any better you could have just bought a new DVD drive, for around $80 :0 Actually I don't know if they are still that price, but when the Thompson disk drive errors ere first "discovered" and the fallout from that whole mess were going on it was about $80 for a new drive if you installed it yourself, and about $110 for someone else to do it profesionally for you. Stupid Microsoft!
  11. I decided high Con was a must, and finally got it up to 18 on my final level up. Some of the D Package implants are just too nice to pass up (universal +2 to every stat, and skills +6 to every skill, plus the mental and physical packages that were like +3 or 4 to all the important stats) Also as a weapon master with 20 natural strength (and a ridiculous 42 str with bonuses) I found my master crit strike would stun everyone, and with Juyo and master speed letting me get 4 hits a round anyways I killed nearly everyone in one hit. Actually Sion took 2 hits most of the times (I did 1 hit him once) and Treya took 2 hits then three hits (her lightsabers were one hit wonders as well though) I can't say this is even close to the "best" build for a weaponmaster, but it sure did make the game easy (ier)
  12. I also got the Ultima pearl WAY before malachor V, but I don't remember it being anything special. I know I got some kind of crazy ore that worked as a crystal on Malachor, it added something like 2-20 damage. That was a nice crystal.
  13. The more I think about this game, the less it fits into the Star Wars Universe IMO. All the Jedi Masters were human. Kreia conjures up 3 lightsabers out of thin air. Some weenie (Nihilus) can kill a whole planet with just the Force, but he is a wimp compared to at least 3 other people just in this game (plus every single person in my party beisdes myself could have taken him 1 vs. 1 and i could have taken on 5-6 of him at once). Sith Assassins (at least the other ones who are coming after you) absorb the force from people and get stronger when they fight force sensitives. The Exile is repeatedly told that he can't feel the force... despite the fact that even as a Weapon Master he had enough Force Power to wipe the floors with loads of Sith. You repeatedly face more Sith Lords/Assassins/Maulers than there were Force Sensitives in the entire Jedi Civil War, and thats just on one planet. It's a fun game, but there were just too many idiosycracies (sp?) for it to fit in with the rest. Overall it may be KOTOR 2, but it's not Star Wars: KOTOR 2.
  14. ....make some...?
  15. Just finished the game as a 15 Guardian/13 Weapon Master, with a 2-handed saberstaff. 41-72 +50 35-65(ish) +48 Was also doing well over 200 dmg on a good Master Critical hit.
  16. The "plot" of this game makes me think of what happens when I try to write something too fast. One of those papers you forgot to write until an hour before class, so you try to crank it out. It makes perfect sense in your head, and your always proud that you did such a good job on such short notice. Then you get the paper back the next day, and see that you left out words in the middle of a sentence, and sometimes maybe even whole sentences. I'm sure this was a great plot in somebody's head, the problem is nobody else ever proof-read it for him to realize that there were a few words missing.
  17. I went there as my first planet and didn't have many extra medpacs, so I found something else cool/stupid about it.... You can't die. I ran outta force points (several times, some events refill your FP) and about halfway through I also ran out of medpacs. And I had saved early into the cave, so I didn't want to have to play a different game from several hours earlier, so I just kept going. It ends up being like the Ender Spire from the first game, you will still get hit, and numbers will pop up over your head, but you can't die. It was cool that I could still make it through, even though my Char wasn't really ready to be there. At the same time it was stupid that nothing I did could kill me, so it was all just free XP.
  18. apparently \Ap*par"ent*ly\, adv. 1. Visibly. [Obs.] --Hobbes. 2. Plainly; clearly; manifestly; evidently. If he should scorn me so apparently. --Shak. 3. Seemingly; in appearance; as, a man may be apparently friendly, yet malicious in heart.
  19. I'm betting you have a Thompson Drive. Sounds like one of the many problems that many people with a Thompsn Drive have had with other games, and that Microsoft refuses to admit exists. If thats not it, then I don't know what to tell you, other than I'm not having any problems.
  20. As long as there aren't as many as in LOTR: The Third Age. I think you could piece together all three movies just from the cutscenes they had in the game.
  21. Ok first off, in the past i have heard you admit that you found KOTOR fun despite any problems you had with it, so it obviously didn't completely ruin your experience. Second, we have told you in the past (by "we" I think we can safely include 98% of the board) that this game (KOTOR 2) IS NOT a Star Wars D20 simulation and/or emulator. I think you have noted the same thing several times . So despite that to continue to have "expectations" that the game is going to be a SW d20 game is almost the same as me expecting the sun to come up in the North. It's night time right now and if I fully expected the sun to rise in the North tomorrow, and continued to afgue with 98% of the people I came in contact with, I would in reality just make myself look stupid to 98% of the people I met. That's what you have been doing for months now. Stupid and irrational doesn't lend any credence to your argument, if you even had one to begin with.
  22. Actually if you mean XBox 2 then i wouldn't be surprised. It is supposedly going to be out in early 2006, Lots of people actually think that Microsoft got Bioware to do the third, since a new consloe will require a new engine, and Bioware is a great engine builder. That has been the speculatiion since Bio announced the "console project in development" at around the same time that Next Box was announced.
  23. I would love it if I could have a girlfriend, but i don't think my wife would like that. And I don't really think that would set a good example for my daughter either. Just because your ultimate goal in life is to someday find a "real girlfriend", don't lump the rest of us in with you and make stupid generalizations.
  24. Just to give you some perspective on how useful this is; think about the original KOTOR, who looked like you would like them? Zaalbar - A big freaking wookie, I thought he'd be cool. T3 - An astromech droid is a staple of the Star Wars universe, I thought I'd take him everywhere. Mission - a sexy little Twilek chick, whats not to like? These all eneded up the worst charachters in kotor. Now how about the ones who didn't look interesting. HK - a "protocol" droid, yeah thats exactly what i wanted in my party. I thought I would just use him as the translator for the one mission that required him. Jolee - An old Jedi Master, yeah thats not cliche enough. Bastilla - another Jedi, she had some sort of connection to me and was trying to steal my spotlight. I'm the hero in this game, not you. These ended up being among the best. I imagine KOTOR 2 has the same chances of having stuff like this happen, so I will wait to decide until i actually use them.
  25. Think of the Universe like a carpet... Someone was trying to walk through yesterday with mud on their shoes. You either stopped that person from getting mud on your carpet, or said screw it a muddy carpet is alot more fun looking. Today someone else is trying to walk on your carpet with dog poop on their shoes. Now whether you kept your carpet nice and white yesterday, or allowed it to get some mud on it, you still have to decide today whether or not to let the poo get on your carpet. Mr. Mud shoes and Mr. Poop shoes are different people with different threats to your carpet. The decison on whether to save your carpet or make it something you find more intersting isn't going to stop anyone else from walking on it next year in KOTOR 3, or 4000 years later in 1-6 with more muddy or otherwise dirty shoes.
