  1. Lol Jediphile. For some reason I felt the urge to google "Jediphile Nihilus/Exile topic" and I got it posted on Lucas forums. I also noticed a post there where you have said your post HERE on these forums was deleted . I've been reading through it and I've been piecing it together. For the most part I have come to accept this http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?...7894&page=3 as canon for me. Now I am not arguing against your theory i have previously stated above I have accepted it as canon because I like it that much. I'm just bringing up this fun little theory that I don't really care if it gets disproved or proven... Hehe. . The Jedi Masters gathered on Dantooine, and told the Exile what they thought about her. They said she was a siphon, leeching the force off others. They wanted to cut off her connection to the force... Hehe just a little food for thought here, is it possible the Jedi masters knew the connection between Nihilus and the Exile, and put you in stasis in order to kill you? LOL. I mean, I would find it hard for them to cut you off from the force and not do anything about Nihilus..... Of course this is purely speculation and can be argued by saying, "Well meh, maybe they don't know about Nihilus and they just think its you causing this." I mean, perhaps Nihilus would've ceased to exist if the Exile had died. There is one thing I can support this with. a) If the Jedi Masters attempted a direct attack on Nihilus, the guy would've held his hand up and they would've died. Super drain for the win. Perhaps they wanted to kill Nihilus by killing its anchor to the physical universe... the Exile. Kreia intervenes because if this would've happened, her whole "deny the will of the force thing" would've been gone because the Exile would've died.
  2. Or they will barely mention Revan enough that the people who here about him but have never played the KOTOR games will go out, get KOTOR 1, say, "WOW!", get KOTOR 2, and then want a KOTOR 3. Lol. YEAH!
  3. Good point. I also happen to believe Light Side is there to counter the dark side. Yeah, I don't know why everyone keeps saying Anakin fell to the Dark Side because he wanted to be the uber sith lord leetness of his age. He wanted to Save Padme, but he went WAYYY To far. (Killing kids? Come on).
  4. IIRC the Exile was also a good friend of Revan's next to Malak, hence why the Exile was given a really good position within the army. And yes they tie to each other, they both leave known space to fight the threat together. Exile seeks out Revan for a reason, if the Exile didn't really care about the experiences he had with Revan, then he probably wouldn't have bothered to go find him and help. I'm going to stay out of this Calax-Vasheir argument is I am still not completely sure what they are arguing about. Game mechanics and the fact he has SWG (which was a BROKEN game at launch and got even more broken, so everyone who played it left, then they changed it into somthing that might be playable which alienated most of the remaining playerbase) as the paragon of MMO's IMO, PlanetSide failed worse, but its made by the same company. Well no doubt, they screwed up with a potentially epic Star Wars MMO. They should've packed more development time, and actually listened to what the players were wanting to see in the game. But whatever, same can be said about most games out there.
  5. I'm not saying Generals is a bad game, What I'm saying is it had nothing to connect it to the C&C franchise other than the name. It had a completely different money scheme, different build menu, no live action cutscenes. NOTHING that was a C&C trademark until the expansion came in that added live action cutscenes. At least TOR is a storyline sequel to the Kotor games. IMHO a game must have one of two things similar to it's predecessor, the style of gameplay, so an FPS is an FPS with a similar control scheme, Strategy games have the same interface, RPG's have the same rules set and interface, or the storyline is the same/set in the same universe. If you don't have these you are either trying to zap life into a monstrosity that seemed to have died years ago (weather it works or not depends), or you're trying to milk the franchise name for cash (Generals gets a leery eye for that one) Ah, but Generals was made by EA too, so it was bound to be uber different. Well, IMO, TOR isn't really a sequel, it has almost nothing to do with KOTOR. The only thing it has to do with KOTOR is these "sith" have attacked. There is ANOTHER WAR, or is it like, a "Cold War" so to speak? I can't remember. Also, I disagree with having a lot of time for the Sith to lose badly, see the Star Wars timeline. And I agree with Dawuss. It would be really hard to change a world where there are players that are DS, Light, and maybe Neutral, all in the same environment. Its physically impossible, unless they make it based on PVP, in which case it WOULD be like Star Wars Galaxies. Except that C&C3 and Red Alert 3 were also made by EA and they retained enough connection to the franchise that fans liked em. Generals was an expirament that got people to buy it by cashing in on a name. CnC 3 and Red Alert 3 were like the previous games in the franchise yes, but thats because its easy to get people to buy sequels. Generals was not necessarily a bad game because it was a new world. Well, maybe in your opinion it is. But back on topic (since we are not really supposed to talk about RTS' here): Referring to your earlier post, you said, "IMHO a game must have one of two things to its predecessor, a similar style of gameplay (like fps and fps) and have the same rules/interface/be set in the same universe." This is true... for sequels. K2 is the sequel to K1. TOR is an MMO and does not NEED these things (except of course be set in the Star Wars universe because I mean you can't have it called Star Wars and its NOT in the Star Wars universe. And because its an MMORPG, it will most likely have a similar interface and rule sets to OTHER MMORPGs, unless they really become amazingly innovative.
  6. Uninstall and completely erase everything KOTOR II related off your PC. Run -> regedit Run -> %appdata% if anything is there Run a search on KOTOR II or Lucas Arts Delete everything in Program files related to KOTOR II Run a disk cleanup from control panel. Restart PC, reinstall KOTOR II, patch it before you play, then try it.

  9. they have enough that they can reference him pretty easily without most people getting ticked. LA has clearly stated that Revan was a lightside male, add 300 years to what he might or might not have done, and you could possibly make him into a pop culture icon who killed a million sith, could cause entire planets to move about in space, and give away an orphan at her wedding at the same time, simply because the tale gets embellished and he becomes legendary. I mean 300 years ago we hit the enlightenment and the scientific revolution, and now we tell stories, write novels, and watch movies about them because of the possiblities. (pirates also ruled the gulf of mexico) We also make up characters or change the ones that exsist to make them larger than life. I think the one drawback to Star Wars as a universe is that there is no real scientific progress. Well... there kinda is, the tech is always the same basic stuff but the older it is the less powerful it is. Anywho, off to bed for work in a few hours. True he is LS Male but to some people Revan will always be a female, or Revan will ALWAYS be Dark Side, its THEIR Revan. So if they mention LS Male Revan saving the Republic some people would be like, "Eh! Thats a load'o crap mate!"
  10. Which just proves my point that players would happily follow a new character, especially if they tie the games together in a similar manner. And if they are smart, which I bet they are, they will never tie off the storyline. It would be the exact opposite of smart to not tie of a storyline. IMO, they need to tie off K1-K2s, with a K3, then start an entirely new trilogy or something following some new characters in a different time setting... and these games can take place any time period they want them to take place in... Much like the original movies. They finished the plot of IV V and VI, and then came back 20 years later and started the trilogy that explained it all... it took 20 years, but they still did it.
  11. The biggest problem with this is that if Kotor3 references TOR in any way shape or form, people will get angry because their actions on the world have not changed it. And if you were to put Knights of the Old Republic together fresh you could do what you want to in terms of timeline, BUT when you make a sequel you have to make sure there is a connection to the previous games otherwise you have a very high chance that it will backfire. See: Command And Conquer: Generals. Well, if people who play The Old Republic want their actions to have an effect on the world, they might as well not even buy it, considering we have star wars storyline thousands of years after the Events of TOR, that will almost certainly define what happened during that events. For one, we already know the Sith lose, badly, if the Jedi in the movies barely discover the presence of two of them in episode I. I don't think a K3 that ties up K1-K2 or a K3 that takes place awhile after TOR will make people angry, because they will only change events in TOR in relation to TOR's events. You can't ask SwTOR to have a thousand year long storyline, thatd be kind of dumb, considering you would die before you could play that long. Yeah Cliandin, but technically, the Republic in the movies is the Old Republic too..... LOL. The New Republic is the one Luke plays a major role in making. Whats wrong with Generals? I love that game, and sometimes play it online/on LAN (using Hamachi) with friends I know. It had no relation to Tiberian Sun (favorite ones IMO) or the Red Alert conflicts, but it was still a good game. Kind of noob friendly though.
  12. I assume you mean a DS male exile, but there are more options then that, because you can still has a DS male Exile and have Bastilla LS. But the fact comes down to is both Bioware and Obsidian left the characters completely open to what happens at the end. The only thing we know for sure is Revan left known space and did not return (we don't even know that much of the exile). IMO you will be disappointed if you expect Revan to be significant in the TOR lore. No, I'm saying that the sith holocron that Exile finds only works (I think, it's been a while) when Revan is selected as DS male. and besides revan would be easy to venerate. He's been on both sides of the tracks (a Jedi and a Sith) prior to Kotor 1 and he's also got body armor that makes him androgynous. So theoretically you could get a way without defining him. I however think they will define him at least a little so that they can get work out of him. He is after all their character so they can do what they want with him. It would be easy to mention what he did and venerate what he did to help the Republic, but of course we still don't know what he did AFTER that when he left. Some people might be angry about the great leader Revan leaving and not helping rebuild the Republic, especially when they don't know what he knows.
  13. I'm going to assume they are going to hop on the bandwagon as far as MMOs go and charge 15 dollars a month. If they pull a Guild Wars thing and make you buy the game, but pay no monthly fee, thatd be cool, but they'd make far less money. You will choose what side of the force you want to be on.
  14. Yes, it is true the storyline in MMOs leave most people wanting, but the same can be said of many SPRPGs (anyone really happy with KoTOR2's ending?). Anyway, if Bioware is to be believed then TOR will contain the aspects that a SPRPG player wants from a MMORPG. They claim that TOR has more content then every game they have ever made put together. Also it will allow your story to truly unfold as you go with your choices actually meaning something, unlike in other MMOs. It will, in essence, make a complete SW adventure that will allow you to choose LS or DS and become whatever you want to be. If they pull this off then every player will be dramatically different, rather than the basic cookie cutter style characters you get from other MMOs. I love the SPRPGs and play the MMOs too. Now I play MMOs because the SPRPG get boring after you beat it a few times and with about 30-45 hours of play time to beat KoTOR2 compared to WoW (I dont know the time to get to 80, but 70 was generally considered 240 hours as fairly fast) does not allow very much play time. As pointed out MMOs make money through subscriptions, so there is a vested interest in making them as big as possible and continuing to expand them (thus WoW has BC and LK). SPRPG make money one time and there only needs be enough content to sell the game to someone (30+ hours). Now I agree there are different markets for SPRPG and MMOs, but they do seriously overlap. Personally I let me subscriptions expire on the MMOs when I get a new SPRPG, (no idea how average that is, but I bet a good percentage of player do the same, but even if it is 10% then for WoW that is 1.1 million subscriptions). Personally I think that if there was to be a KoTOR3 is would have to release before TOR or after TOR is all but dead. But, if TOR is as good as they hope I think WoW will be gone first and they are going on their 5th year with 11 million current subscribers, so don't hold your breath. Yes however I have some points to make: 1. They say that TOR will have more content then all their games: IMO, this is a lame attempt at saying, "Eventually." If they follow MMO mechanics, and implement what an MMO HAS TO HAVE, then upon release of this game, they won't have more content then all their games, over the years though, of course, because they can add things over time. 2. Leveling from 70 to 80 taking 240 hours IMO is just stupid. It does not make me feel like I am achieving anything, it makes me feel like I'm grinding longer than other people. This just shows that most MMOs make it take a long long time to level up rather than be innovative and genius in thinking of other things to actually make the game fun. Its like they hang a piece of meat (level 80) in front of a hunger dog (level 70's). The hungry dog really wants that piece of meat, but he has to get to it, and in WoW's case, it takes a LONG TIME. And the quest are really lame. You get some dialogue, but then the goals for the quests don't make you feel like you achieve anything, because as you are completing the quest, you will see the mob respawn or something. It was like, "Whats the point?" Should just call them, "Tasks" that have you kill things for more experience. The dialogue is like trying to beat body odor with cologne IMO. Of course this is my own opinion on most MMOs. You are of course free to have your own I am not trying to, "convert" you or anything. There are other people like me and other people like you. On your money points: Yes, MMOs are making cash through subscriptions, but this is how I see it: MMO's are money to companies as to taxing things you buy is to the United States Government. Single-players are money to companies as a person who has a job finding a 100 dollar bill on the ground. MMO's regulate a companies income IMO, while a Single-Player is something you release, have people buy, and then generate a fast income off of it. 3. Personally I think that a K3 would be possible before, during, or after TOR. It is very possible that hype for such a game as K3 could be MASSED like A LOT and interest a lot of people who have played the MMO, not to mention us here would buy it regardless of what it looked like.
  15. This seems to be the common thought. that the games have to go back to Revan or the Exile. I don't agree. If that had to happen then KoTOR2 would have followed Revan, but instead they created the Exile, and everyone is so attached to that creation. 95% of everyone would happily follow the exploits of "Jedi X" through the would of KoTOR3, and the other 5% would grumble about it and play it anyway. Then everyone would love this "Jedi X" that they created for KoTOR3 and say we had to go back to Revan, Exlie and Jedi X in KoTOR4. Personally I would like a game that followed Exar Kun, or a Jedi that battles him. But the Exile's experiences had direct ties to Revan. K1 and K2 have related plotlines that lead up to one grand enemy and one grand climax, which we don't have yet.
  16. Assuming Revan is the captive of course. It is possible, but that would be lame imo. :D
  17. I'm curious, what are they doing for the voice acting? Is it going to be text we have to read, or are there files that contained the voice acting for these particular parts of the game? Just wondering.
  18. Also, another example would be Darth Plageuis (spelling?). It was said he could influence the midi-chlorians to create life. No whether or not Palpatine was lying about other things, we know he was telling the truth about this certain detail, after all, Anakin was born purely of midi-chlorians, no father, nothing. If the force can be manipulated to create life, why cannot someone figure out the secret to extend life? Over long periods of time? Imo, extending ones life sounds much easier than actually CREATING one. Speculation. Discuss.
  19. well if he wants to impact the Sith empire he either has to get some position of power within the empire that would rely upon him using the dark side, or he has to somehow forment a rebellion within the Empire but that would probably not come to a head within his lifetime. Why does he "have to?" He could do what you are saying, and infiltrate their ranks by falling to the Dark Side, or he could do something else. Impacting an empire from within is not the only option. if he is to have the impact that would cause the Sith to take an extra 300 years to attack the republic he'd have to either form an army of disgruntled slaves or become powerful enough that he has his own army to forment discontent. while the disgruntled slaves would probably allow him to remain Lightsided the Nobility line would probably end up with him stuck in a terrible spiral leading to his darkside tendancies coming back to haunt him. Hmm.... He doesn't have to lead a slave rebellion in order to impact the Sith empire... Refer to my earlier theory.... Nor does he have to willingly fall to the DS again and get in some position of power (because the Sith probably wouldn't just hand over a position of power to Revan because they probably wouldn't know him too well.) In general the way a sith organization works is that in order to move up in the ranks (at least at the rank where Revan would need to be to have a large enough impact) you kill the person above you. Generally wanton slaughter and the keeping of pleasure slaves is not conducive to rising in the sith ranks. Also I would expect a Lord to be able to sense the alignment of another Lord. Which is why he probably wouldn't want to fall to the DS again. Does it make sense? Revan leads against the Mandalorians, then turns and attacks the Republic... Then his mind is re-wired and he helps the Republic, even AFTER remembering who he was before this "Jedi re-wiring thing". If he fell to the DS purposely and attacked the Republic to save it, why doesn't the Canon Revan go DS and finish his onslaught of hte Republic? Something else must have been at work in my opinion. He must've realized he made an error somewhere along his judgment when he fell to the DS the first time. So I highly doubt that if he goes to fight the True Sith, he will fall to the Dark Side. This is because the aforementioned events. He fell to the Dark Side the first time, and ended up nearly destroying the Jedi and the Republic. He left decimation in his wake. He must have realized that one cannot simply fall to the Dark Side and then hope to do good, the Dark Side rules your destiny. Your lust and craving for power is all that matters. And yet without either support from another unknown kingdom, or the Republic, Revan wouldn't have the influence or power base necessary to do significant damage to a society designed around power and war. It'd be like taking a German General and plopping him down in Siberia during world war two and expecting him to have ANY effect on the Russian War Effort. Not sure any of this has to do with the MMO. Based on what Bioware's VP said this MMO is intended to have a time frame where the sith and jedi are constantly fighting. That means that you wont have Revan coming back having destroyed the Sith. Also, all this talk about the "True Sith" Kreia said the "true sith" was a believe not a people, and that is part of Obsidian's story line anyway and Bioware will ikely not use it. The new MMO is just going to be a game where you get to decide over time between LS and DS. And I agree that the reference to the MMO being KoTOR3-12 is a reference to how big the game content will be, since Bioware is saying there is more game content in TOR then all their other games put together. True. However, just because Revan didn't come back having destroyed the Sith doesn't mean the Sith weren't beaten. In almost all Star Wars stories, the Sith make their appearance. Beating them simply makes them have to rebuild. Kreia said that the machines of Revan/Malak and the people you fight in KOTOR II aren't the Sith, and that it is a belief yes, but then she goes on to say that the Sith, the True Sith, are out there rebuilding their empire on the edge of known space.
  20. well if he wants to impact the Sith empire he either has to get some position of power within the empire that would rely upon him using the dark side, or he has to somehow forment a rebellion within the Empire but that would probably not come to a head within his lifetime. 21. Odd. Try this: 1. Go to my computer 2. Go to your C: drive 3. Click on Program files 4. Find Lucas Arts. 5. Right click it, then go to properties. 6. Go to Secuirty tab 7. EDIT EVERY USER'S permissions so that all of them have permission for anything and everything in that Lucas Arts Folder. Once you have full permission with all users, see if the box is still greyed out or not.

  23. I'll accept that just being incredibly strong in the force could increase your life expectancy, but not that Yoda was consciously making himself live longer. We will never know. IMO - Yoda knew what he was doing.

  25. No, it doesn't show we are evil per se, just afraid to die. Those that aren't scared of death are generally thrill seekers, or reckless with their lives and they either die young or get really lucky. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the darkside. Ah, but is Master Yoda truly afraid to die? He willingly embraces it in Episode V.
