  1. The double cast bonus seems to be tempting but thats basically all you get compared to blood mage ( who also gets power level boost after using blood sacrifice ) and then you lose access to half of wizard spells when going with evoker, and in prolonged fights blood mage will be able to cast more of the same spells than evoker with double cast, losing access to combusting wounds arcane dampener etc. is really painful I could see evoker being superior if I had another wizard in the party but I just don't want to do that really
  2. Apparently Cape of Falling Star is one, my game keeps crashing when I try to open inventory or character screen where it shows my characters model. I found some posts where people had similar issues while using this item, lost all of my progress on this save , are there any other items like this ?
  3. i guess it depends how you are using AC if you keep him in the back waiting for enemies to rush your backline - AC wont die but then you gain nothing from him for half of the combat second option is use him the way he is supposed to be used - once your tank engages and enemies settle in place you send your AC to enemy back line and your ranger starts sniping enemy back line - your ac will die and will do it often unless you dedicate a healer to follow him arround
  4. Thats the biggest issue with DOT builds half of games enemies are immune to poison and disease
  5. People neglect AC and go for GhostHeart for the very reasons u described as you have to pick 5 talents to even make AC do anything and its also additional character to micro as it will die very easy on AI and ranger companion usually causes a lot of body blocking issues and cant find their path to targets ,you can takedown combo with ghost hearts AC whenever it suits you without investing 5-10 ability points in to AC. Other similar option is to play Maia or use mod that unlocks Gunhawk class , bird AC can be played without any AC passives and just spam takedown combo when needed and Gunhawk subclass has no penalties and the bird is basically another bonus compared to other subclasses. Melee Rangers are kinda liked by the community and can be built to be very strong but honestly if I want to play ranger I want it to be ranged as there are plenty of other interesting melee classes. Arcane archer is just massive derp by obsidian but community patch fixes some of the problems and then you can build that one multi class build with paladin by Boeroer and its kinda fun, however any martial class is fun when played with paladin because you can spam FoD once you ran out of your other class resources and flames hits so hard that enemies explode into little pieces of meat Basically for me biggest issue about ranger is the AC and that it feels incomplete if you neglect AC , AC causes more trouble than good in long run and are too weak in general unless you dump more than half of your talent points into making AC useful but then you end up with weaker ranger.
  6. Chanter has some decent DOT effects from his chants also if you make him tanky he can add some retaliation effects who will function as a dot when he is being attacked , can have 2 damaging chants up all the time with troubadour , also rogue can do some DOTS in AOE when using Riposte , Deep Wounds with spears that have dot effects, I'm currently playing priest druid - healer/buffer/debuffer and only dot spell I ever use is Plague of Insects , other than that I find it more useful to debuff enemies so my dpsers kill them faster or buff/heal my allies instead of casting more dots, however Plague of Insects cast at the beginning of the encounter is still really good Next play trough im thinking to go with Oracle(Psion/x) as my support character as playing priest/druid Lifegiver is just too easy, oracle will probably have more time to cast some additional dots Autumn Decay seems really decent spell to use except that half of the games enemies are immune to decay
  7. Every ability should have separate files within the mod like in community patch for example , in case you dont like some changes you can remove them one by one . Also modding nerfs onto single player game might not be the best idea
  8. So just to be clear if I play Fighter/x character and use Devil of Caroc Armor 35% base recovery of medium armors -10% recovery enchant on the armor -25% recovery from armoured grace I would not have Armor with 0% recovery right ? it would still slow my character down?
  9. I switched between Harbringer Robes and Devil of Caroc breastplate when playing assassin, depending on the encounter and how much damage you take, if your assassin barely if ever dies in a fight then you can decrease defense and increase offense and go for harbringers robe, if he dies too fast with harbringers go for Caroc breastplate
  10. Problem with wild mind is that you can actually play ascendant/x cipher with kitchen stove + thunderous report instead of serafen with wild mind and then its not even worth comparing them P.S. Nebula is actually really good ? I buy it as soon as I get to serpents crown , saved my watcher plenty of times(kinda helps that he is street fighter to increase value of nebulas 5% proc rate) and inspiration on ally will always give more benefit than inspiration on enemy would cause harm , also one of the better looking pets in the game
  11. I was pleasantly surprised when Konstanten who was awfully quiet for most of the base game started talking a lot in SSS, also he has killer line that happens in Beast of Winter when dragon resurrects
  12. I waited 1 year+ to buy deadfire simply because of my experience with PoE1 where game was a mess at release and was getting balance changes every two months, kinda dissapointed that even after 1 year there are plenty of things that does not work properly and probably never will ...
  13. My advice on companions would be use Tekehu because of how unique he is compared to others he has 2 hidden subclasses on him and he turns into a shark for style points Eder is decent as main tank and xoti single class priest as healer support If you decide to play Serafen go either Witch or Barbarian he is horrible as single class cipher in my opinion wild mind is just sh1t p.s. since we are talking about companions here is there any mod that allows you to change their stats and classes or you have to console it ? How reliable is consoling new subclasses into them can it break the game ? Would be fun to play subclasses i want on story companions who have their own quests and barter
  14. Necklace of Fireballs thing - Could it work with figurines too ? Assuming you have two of same figurine
  15. yes it will work very well if you stack all the PL gear and bonuses
  16. You can build arround some weapons especially since you can export second copy of some one handed weapon from other save (you will have to pay in gold for exported item, i like this feature) Stalkers Patience for example can have several builds of different multiclases Then Kitchen Stove blunderbuss is insane with Thunderous Report or with Wild Barrage you can build arround one of those skills
  17. StreetFighter/Steel Garrote build(if you want to try solo use this one, i personally dont play solo) you can check this one its pretty decent https://fextralife.com/pillars-of-eternity-2-holy-slayer-build-guide-righteous-rejuvenator/ Assassin/Bleakwalker is not a solo build and there are plenty different ways to build it depending what weapon u want to use, in general on Assassin side you dont want to take many active skills as they all will use precious Guile which you need to turn invisible so take Crippling Strike and its upgrade and then either Smoke Veil or Escape+Shadowing beyond - you dont need both. Dont take Blinding Strike because it uses 2 guile and crippling strike is better, you can take Finnishing Blows at later levels when u got spare points but you wont be using it much once again because it costs Guile and u need it for Invisibility. From Paladin side get Sworn Enemy and its upgrade Sworn Rival , Flames of Devotion + upgrade that adds +10% fire damage, Shining Beacon + upgrade that increases damage recieved of enemies effected by beacon. Rest of talent points put into paasive abilities that gives you more damage. You probably want to stay away from abilities that add DoT effects to enemies because dots can break your invisibility. Interesting gear for Assassin build is : Devil of Caroc breastplate adds you 2 Guile Marux Amanth dagger - keep it in second weapon set and use on near death enemies to restore 2 Guile (When soul binding this dagger bind it to rogue so it restores rogue resources Rusts Poignard - also keep it in second weapon set and use it only for Shadowing Beyond once you rant out of Guile There is also Scordeos trophy pistol which can be used early in the game to start the fights behind your tank make couple of shots to get stacking melee recovery buff before you switch to melee weapons and go for backstabs Ajmuuts Stalking Cloak - cape that is perfect for this build gives you more damage and stun out of invisibility Slippers of the Assassin - makes you invisibile after killing enemy once per encounter but has huge drawback which basically requires you to have cipher in your group if you dont got cipher to use Phantom Foes all the tkme just skip this item Potion of Invisibility - self explanatory find out in wiki where you can buy ingredients for this potion and keep revisiting those vendors every chance u get Main weapon set depends on what kind of assassin u wanna play you can go 2hander meelee , dual-wield melee , arquebus or double pistols/blunderbuss - arquebus will deal most damage from backstab but after you use backstab witth arquebus you will end up in meelee range out of invisibility with ranged weapon that needs to be reloaded which is not that good, but managable. Attributes you want to max Perception Might and Dexterity you can dump Resolve for sure, Int is probably best left at 10 Race - Death God Like for increased damage on low health targets , Human if you want get buffed when you drop below 50% hp or Orlan for hit to crit conversion
  18. MC Holy Slayer Rogue/Paladin either Assassin/Bleak Walker or Streetfighter/Steel Garrote depends if you want squishy character who can delete others from invisibility or if you want tanky character who can tank multiple enemies and just get stronger as his health decreases and still deals decent amounts of damage. You can go both melee or ranged for the assassin, ranged character will have to get close to backstab but that is not complicated while you are invisible
  19. Look for builds that are updated for version 4.x and above , fextralife on yt has quite a few ( however some of those builds only starts working when you are closer to max level and are really boring otherwise for example sage )
  20. I used boots on my first playtrough and i think it only interfered with actual body flanking - distraction effects and phantom foes worked just fine. If you want to min max back stab damage then arquebus(probably the one with huge fire lash) is the way to go, if you want to go for flavor character and have less optimal build then i would use modwyr + flanking spear in one weapon set and in second weapon set pistol that gives stacking melee damage bonus to open the fights from behind the tank coupled with sacrifice dagger to restore 2 rogue resources on near dead enemy also helps to finnish big bosses faster or you can use Rusts dagger instead of pistol for one more shadowing beyond. Sadly assassinate and backstab will only be applied to one hit and not full attack when using spear and sword. Edit : also another idea would be to play Black jacket/assassin and use all kind of firearms to quickswich-invis-backstab
  21. Sad that in game version 5.x stuff like that still exists ... and probably will never be fixed
  22. Maybe this could be added to community patch in case it gets another update would be really nice
  23. So I cant get this very interesting unique weapon out of my head , considering you can acquire it very early and maybe I could even export second copy via hired companions for double the effects, Any ideas for interesting builds using this weapon or two of them ? Im thinking because it turns you invisible on Crit one of the classes for character should be Rogue for the backstabs, also sceptres dont get penalty for being in melee range which is great, voidward to reduce raw damage , stalking cloak to stun from invisible , also I could burn rogue recourses and some potions on more chances to go invisible , multi class options that comes to mind could be either fighter (devoted or tactician) or monk(Helwalker or shattered pillar), priest of Wael gets same skills as rogue trickster but uses priest resources. Another idea would be to get "ranged backstab" mod that would open more possibilities for ranged builds. Anyone tried anything like that ?
  24. Blah could be the other way around at least or both should work on paladin
