  1. With the scores we have seen in reviews, I now predict metacritic aggregate score will hover around 90%.
  2. http://www.gry-online.pl/S020.asp?ID=10364 Potatoland chimes in and gives Pillars of Eternity a 9,5/10 Also, time for the Czechs and Italians to add their reviews to the lot and give PoE a 9/10 and 93%, respectively.
  3. Wired on PoE: "Silly Name, Terrific Story" "Pillars of Eternity - Das Neue Baldur's Gate" "Comunidad, Saludad a Baldur's Gate 3" (Only 8.5 though )

  5. Aw, too bad I don't live nearby. Now if there was a release party in the Paradox offices on the other hand... That would be within walking distance from where I live.
  6. Oh, and I bet the metacritic aggregate score will be 85.
  7. I think it's safe to say that this has been Obsidian's most hyped game ever, and that it will also be the best scoring, considering both "professional" and user reviews. That said: Don't listen to reviews, make up your own mind. Most "professional" reviewers really have no clue, and even if they do, they might not be focused on the CRPG genre.
  8. Are they Russians? Are they the ones who did Trotsky in?
  9. Four loko, eh? I like your style. So it's not only me who often games with a glass of milk.... Yeah, this is more close to what I will be having. Although I will likely drink Old Fashioneds with the rye swapped for Aberlour A'bunadh. I'm unsure of what I will be eating, maybe I can convince my GF too cook something for me, considering it's the "launch party". Hmm...
  10. Correct, this is in favour of MIG. Then it makes sense that DEX is a just a wee bit better if we do not count DR in.
  11. That would only be the case if they were multiplicative. But they aren't. Instead they are additive. Multiplicative, with might: 100*1,03 damage / 10 seconds = 10,3 DPS or 100*1,5*1,03 damage / 10 seconds = 15,45 DPS Additive, with might: 100*(1 + 0,03) damage / 10 seconds = 10,3 DPS or 100*(1 + 0,03 + 0,5) damage / 10 seconds = 15,3 DPS Multiplicative, with dexterity: 100 damage / 10*(1-0.03) seconds = 10,309... DPS or 100*1,5 damage / 10*(1-0.03) seconds = 15,46... DPS Additive, with dexterity (same as above, but...): 100 damage / 10*(1-0.03) seconds = 10,309... DPS or 100*1,5 damage / 10*(1-0.03) seconds = 15,46... DPS Do you see what I mean now? I'm not sure how they calculate attack speed - if a Dexterity bonus multiplies time taken for attack by 1/1,03 which is one other possibility we get that DEX and MIG gives the same bonus to damage, like I wrote first. In all of these cases, DEX is better or equally good. I'm not sure you understand yourself what you are writing here. Are you just trying to say that you get relatively diminishing returns? If +3% bonus on top gives 153% damage, then than means you have added the same amount of damage as when you went from 100% to 103%. This is of course a smaller amount relative to the total damage than if you start at 150%, which means that better attack speed (that is, higher DEX) becomes more important with 150% damage since that increases damage by a fixed factor (that is, multiplicatively). But why are you interested in damage from just abilities? Surely what is interesting is the damage dealt from all sources?
  12. But if Might gives +3% to damage and Dexterity gives +3% to attack speed, then they both contribute equally to the DPS. However, since faster attack speed leaves you with less of a problem with overkill, Dexterity is actually slightly better for damage dealing in a fight against multiple enemies.
  13. Hi, I was just wondering - and my question is aimed at those of you who have already played PoE (backer beta or press release) - about good/bad choices of Attributes for making survivable characters. Let's discuss two characters - firstly a close combat character, then a character who is mostly out of CC but close enough to the fray to be hit by enemy AoEs and similar. How important is CON (with bonuses to health and Endurance) for you survival in both cases? Is it a small factor or a big factor? The attributes can be divided into three groups depending on what they give defense bonuses for: MIG and CON gives more Fortitude, DEX and PER gives more Reflexes, and INT and RES gives more Will. How important is it to balance these three groups? Are different defenses more important for different characters (close combat, support, ...)? PER and RES gives boni to Deflection. How important is this for defense?
  14. Slacker backed physical box, T-shirt and expansion. Got Hero edition. Eh, what the heck, I agree with the sentiment that all backers should just get Hero edition and then download their stuff from here. I'm upgrading to Royal Edition on my own
  15. Maybe Paradox needs to do something. They will probably be in their office in 4-5 hours or so.
  16. Some people with slow connections would want to start pre-loading now. Especially if the alternative is them going to sleep and starting pre-loading in 8 hours. That's pretty much it I think...
  17. Did you guys just back this in order to look at Tim Cain's cookbook before all others or did you back it because you want a good game? I don't see why it matters, as long as backers get their stuff by release.
  18. Yeah. I don't really mind waiting to be 100% honest. I'm just a bit excited now that we're so close to release. I'm going to download the game in no time anyway.
  19. I'm getting restless. If this continues we might have to kidnap Obsidian employees to make our disappointment heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fprKVIbo6bY And then there's NO telling what might happen.
  20. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NEEED SOME SOOTHING MUSIC TO CALM THE NERVES
  21. I recently played through IWD on hardest difficulty. So I think I'll continue by playing this with a party entirely created by me, on Hard and with Trial of Iron (but without Expert mode).
  22. What? I assume you have played other Obsidian titles? As much as it pains me to say it, because I think Obsidian have made the best games I've played in recent years, like Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas and NWN2:MotB, they have had some serious issues with bugs and glitches on release. Yes. I have played every Obsidian game. AP and MotB I had zero issues with. Recent games such as DS3 and Stick of Truth, zero issues. I remember having problems with the camera and group movement in NWN2 which made it borderline unplayable at times, but that was fixed in a patch before I had finished the game. So first off, I haven't really experienced a lot of bugs in Obsidian games (unlike the Troika games - Bloodlines and ToEE were both impossible to complete because of bugs in the state I first installed them in). You don't play a game because it has few bugs. There are gazillions of complete **** games out there without a lot of bugs. What matters is the style and substance of the game - I'd rather Obsidian focus on that and then patch things up afterwards.
