  1. I get the comparison, but... Where did the souls come from BEFORE the Wheel? Because wherever that is, the Wheel actually isn't affecting it. The Wheel ONLY affects the Souls that were already in the world. The 'new' Souls that were constantly coming into the world before the Wheel, those aren't affected by it and never were as far as we know.
  2. No, I recall seeing a GIF with someone casting a Storm spell and Voulge triggering.
  3. Eothas destroys the Wheel. Eothas doesn't know what will happen without the Wheel. Neither do the gods. ... That doesn't make sense with itself. The lore of POE 1 is that the Engwithans made the gods after finding that there were no gods. Okay... But the Engwithans EXISTED to do that. They existed to MAKE the Wheel and the gods. The whole purpose of the Wheel is to recycle souls to power the gods and strengthen souls.... But the world doesn't actually need the Wheel, as evidenced by the fact that it didn't exist before the Engwithans made the dang thing. Why is everyone acting like breaking the Wheel might just kill the world or something? Souls and Life existed pre-Wheel, it will keep going afterwards, there's no actual reason to believe that there will be ANY negative consequences for breaking the Wheel. I feel like I HAVE to be missing something, but... I'm not seeing it. Life existed before the Wheel, it should be under no threat of dissapearing if the Wheel is gone.
  4. I remember seeing a post somewhere that the Voulge stuff actually triggered off of everything, not just attacks... Anyone able to confirm that? Because casting a big AOE spell and dropping Lightning because of Voulge seems pretty awesome.
  5. First run, I went party style with the companions. Second run, I said "My god managing you all is super annoying" and only took Eder... Just to make him walk into traps and die after I stole his armor. No companions!
  6. To be fair, the only reason I've even considered picking up Divinity 2 is specifically for the enviromental spell casting. I always loved going for Storm of the Century in Dragon Age Origins, so hearing that things of that nature were possible in Divinity 2 has made me think about getting it more than once. That said... I already play POE 1 and 2, so turn based wouldn't either attract or repel me, really. As for 'no evidence'... We're talking about why random internet strangers might want to buy X over Y. There's no actual evidence to be had, so even bringing it up is nonsenical. I think Saito does bring up an interesting point though... Games that are entirely new, no succeeding, no copying, no imitation.... They have a far higher ceiling of sucess. They also fail, a lot, but that heightened top end is worth noting. On top of that, part of what might be 'holding back' POE 2... Is that it IS a 2. People look at it and go, I didn't care and/or hear about the first one, why would I care about the second? Divinity has a lot of other games that sort-of-kind-of go with it, so it doesn't run into that issue in quite the same fashion.
  7. Real Time games do well. Turn Based games do well. Real Time With Pause feels, for some, like an odd mish mash of the two that just never quite sits right. It's balanced around pausing, so you do kinda have to pause to play the top end of the game... But it's also balanced around real time, so the game doesn't feel right when played with constant pauses. A party based game, single player? It has to be at least RTWP, just to function, you can't be expected to micro manage your entire party perfectly in real time. But for a lot of people.... Their reply would be 'So why not just make it turn based?' In the end, I've heard of and/or played a LOT of Turn Based games... RTWP, just POE, Tyranny, and POE 2. Nothing else. Turn Based is a more common archetype. People know what it is, how it will play... They know what they're paying for, in essence. How many RTWP games are even on the market right now? Not in comparison to TB, clearly there's more TB, but.... How many are even on offer, for people to understand what POE 2 even is?
  8. It's worth noting, turn based combait implies, but does not promise, that any given action takes only one turn. Someone mentioned in another thread that Wizards would be insane in turn based... Not a certainty. It might take multiple turns to cast spells. It could be a speed based turn order system, where characters take turns in order of their action speed, and then their actions cost them X turns in the order based on the action itself and their speed. IE, if your Wizard is fastest, he goes first... He casts a Meteor Shower, and it takes him X% action speed, so when Y turns have gone by, he finishes the cast and it takes effect, and THEN he gets put into the order again in accordance with his relative speed. If turn based combat was one turn, one action... I don't see it making any sense without the above mentioned total overhaul. It's a new game at that point. Certainly one I'd be interested in, but it wouldn't be Deadfire anymore with how much would need to be changed.
  9. I got Ire of Death's Herald at one point... Not sure how though, because I answere passionately. I do know it was a Might Inspiration though.
  10. I might've used it elsewhere but not for that. I have a habit of using the Console to get weapons that are tied to X faction when I want to side with Y, so... Maybe Console being enabled messed with it or something? I know I didn't use it to mess with my class, I don't know how to with the in game console.
  11. ... Uh.... But I've done exactly that. Bug? Cuz I Multiclassed and was still using Meteor Shower. It was an old character, maybe bugged by the DLC being added?
  12. Wait, why would you ever single class a wizard? You miss out on Prestige... And nothing else, because you can use a Grimoire to cast above what you can actually skill. If you can mutliclass and still get the best spells... Is one PL from Prestige really worth it? I always Multi on wizards, usually with Paladin or Fighter. Is there something else important you miss that I just haven't noticed?
  13. That's nice to know. I guess numbers wise that really won't sort out then, to just rely on damage from the club.
  14. I imagine a video of this would be pretty hilarious.... Beckoner subclass or no? Hm... I wonder if you can get away with going pure chanter/beckoner just to get the dragons to summon....
  15. What exactly is the MAXIMUM theoretical engagement? Assuming you use the Signet Ring and the Club that scale with Engagement, how far could you push them in a big enough fight? Do the actual size of the character models add a limit at some point rather than a mechanical one? Are there any other items that scale with engagement that I'm missing? I'm just looking to theorycraft a tanky character that has next to no damage, just a bunch of defense... Until it sits in the middle of a group of enemies and starts actually doing things.
  16. Agreed. Part of good story telling is making sure that people aren't left with questions they want answered. Either you answer every question, or you make certain they don't actually want the information. Remember midoclorians? Nobody wanted an explanation, but they were given one anyways and it ended up an active negative.
  17. Most games I see with Transmogs function as if you are hiding the gear you are actually wearing beneath a illusion. IE, you are still wearing, let's say... The Devil of Caroc armor, and you are still getting the exact same things from it, both good and bad... It just LOOKS like some other armor because magic-illusions-reasons-whatevere-lore-excuse-the-developers-feel-like-using.
  18. Do any of the stats on Fealty change? Maybe an accuracy buff, or a change as to what it targets?
  19. The Concelhaut notes drove me mad when I first did it, because three of the notes all look the same, and one randomly looks different, so I kept looking for it in my inventory and not noticing it among all the other books and notes I had since it didn't match. Could easily be that.
  20. That's... severely underwelming. Three spells? (Assuming the above commenter is correct, haven't checked that) A passive point to buff just three spells isn't all that great. Maybe if you were Druid/Wizard, it'd be a little worth it? Still seems better to focus on fire, frost, or shock though.
  21. I too would like to know this. There are corrode damage bonuses elsewhere in game, but... If this affects it, focusing on Corrode would be far better than before.
  22. Yeah, not sure any Wizards would really use this, unless it's Blood Mage/Something. Even then, the other Wizard subclasses are..... Meh. I went Evoker my first playthrough, only to find that a lot of things that seemed 'evoked' were in fact transmutation or conjuration, so it was a massive waste of time... Unless I stuck to the Minoletta spells and spammed Missiles. Since Minoletta's Minor Missiles is basically my favorite thing in POE1 and 2... I kept going anyways.
  23. I would assume Ciphers would get one Soul Whip with both effects? Not sure, I don't run Ciphers.
  24. Had an odd thought when making a new character. What if you could multiclass... As the same class? IE, multiclassing as a Fighter, Devoted... And a Fighter, Unbroken. Now, clearly there are classes this wouldn't work with. Paladins and Priests both wouldn't work right if you tried this... So, lock it out, with an error message that says "You can only devote yourself to one Paladin Order/God at a time." Druids would sort of work, with the exception of the Furies... And since the Furies devote themselves to the storm, the same excuse applies. As for balancing... The subclasses are already individually balanced, and so is multiclassing. If you multiclass as the same class to get two bonuses, you're getting the downsides of both subclasses... As well as the downside of multiclassing, half as many points to each class... Or in this case, half as many to your ONLY class. I doubt it would really be the best way to play most classes, but it would certainly be interesting, especially if you're focusing on attacking rather than using abilities. Or if you decide you like one of the other Wizard subclasses, and go Blood Mage/something else, you could get around the issue with multiclassing with your grimoire. I don't know if Obsidian would consider that, or perhaps some modder will, but it was an odd shower thought that I thought I'd share.
