There are some individuals who trend to reject reason. You will never understand how good it feels to be irrational until you start acting with your hearth and impulses, following a moral compass instead of your brains and pragmatism, following convenience. Just look at me, I ****ing bought Darq twice and going to get the console versions too. And i would never play that again because it is from a genre I don't like.

Stories of your play through please

for the moment, all I had done is to crash the saltuna market, I ruined both Monarch and Spacer's Choice saltuna's canneries -
Hostility
DekarServerbot replied to GeoxXclapXx's topic in The Outer Worlds: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I got Vilified by Auntie Cleo's and the description says "should be fired, preferably by a cannon" and every single member of that faction starts shooting me. Right now is the only faction that hates me -
True that, sorry for showing the other side of the coin Well, i remember that my ending was Anders (THAT Anders as PC) marrying that sexy ebony strategist or implying it. I am dubious on buying DLC, replaying it and do videos or just sit my fat ass with the outer worlds and see how many outcomes i can get.

In fact, the only good point of Dragon Age Inquisition was the writing, TOW has not only good writing, but it also makes itself approachable to persons like me who despite first person shooters, Fallout 4 did not. Fallout 4 combat is one of the worst i had seen in a RPG that i have played (i don't care about borderlands or cyberpunk, i am not touching those even with a 10 foot pole), and fallout 3 was a game i just played once and never again, due it's story setting and the lack of stupid options i could not play any Carlos Clan there, my lone wanderer was a rando and the ending was like Life is Strange: two gates.

the writting is pretty good IMO. I was villified by one of the corporations that i had to hunt secrets to progress and I somehow managed to get all what i needed from that company to progress. To make things worse, i evem sold one of their secret research stuff to a competitor and it took that other corporation to see me as an ally instead of "just the stupid guy who ruined our cannery by pressing colorful buttons" (decision that made me feel sad after seeing the real outcome of this option and ignoring my companion's advice). I missed this kind of writting since original fallouts, new vegas and dragon age origins. It makes me think that regardless being a 1 int stupid bruiser character I can get stuff done, not because i was told to, but because i had to, and i did it my way, not Hawke's "yes man" way or Max's "pessimistic" Way. And if i want to see what happens if I play as Nora or "not me" I can always replay the game and do a different role and it will never be the same. Now I am wondering if i can do an "Anders the inquisitor" run by playing a Mr House expy, but first i need to finish the game once

Immersion
DekarServerbot replied to JimmyTheGent's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
to tell the truth, this is one of the immersive stuff i don't want to be removed, it gives me some senses that i lost due "first person" camera only: smell and hearing. As soon as i found those arrows i switched from "story mode" to "normal mode". Yet I still die a lot but i do suck big dinosaur balls at FPS so it is my own fault. Not like i am gonna "git gud" anytime soon because i am playing a melee character, but the bullet mode helps me more than yelling "USELESS SISSY, COME HERE AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN" most of time and it is making this game bearable to me -
Fallout 4 is like Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 3 in the RPG aspect: you control somebody who did MORE FOR HIMSELF before you take control of him in the game. The nail in the coffin was that after exploring wilson's atomatoys factory and retrieving NATE'S KEY you get your last name too: Hawke. And if there were any doubts this was your or your husband's key, Nate is the last member contracted and they use his military background to help in the ammunition production, the only way to avoid this obvious cannon is to change your name, but since your character has totally a background (and even a name if you play as the girl) you are just dennying the truth. I don't mention Life is Strange, because at least you can choose between saving chloe and forcing a ****ing character development for these two lesbians or get the biggest plothole ending that neglects facts even in the current game. Dragon Age 2 removed the option and just gave us plothole over plothole over plothole, like Fallout 4. Ghouls being the embodiment of what is wrong with dragon age 2 writting: children don't age but they do age if feral (or if they read), they no longer require food of water despite it has been declared THEY DO since the first game, also they do require food and water IN THIS GAME as the Slog and settlers say so. They are supposedly immune to radiation but it still turns them feral unless you shoot at them with gamma wave weapons that kill them. The only good thing Fallout 4 did was the settlement building system, but just because it does what Spore did, and not all settlements are worth to build on unless you think like Oxhorn, Nuka world solved that issue at the expense of forbidding you to earn the endgame, but since the ending looks more like a trailer than an ending you are missing NOTHING.

at least you got further than i did, i hit several guards in the first Auntie Cleo's settlement thinking they were marauders and now i am literally stuck at that bitch quest where you have to sell her secrets

Carlos' clan goes to space: 1 int melee focused character. Probably holding a grudge against corporations for killing his parents (or grandparents, depending on the year) back on earth. Too dumb to pick any phobia flaws, will experiment with other ones.

while i agreee with most of your post, the only thing i disagree is the "pop culture" references breaking immersion. Yes i did find annoying the monty python ones, but i thought that there were more coincidences than any of the characters having anything to do with such overrated piece of comedy, specially since the game is about finding the holly grail, literally. Also i don't remember any 80's/90's pop culture references so i am ok with the ones there. As long as it keeps "having a gay old time", I am ok with them in the fallout series.

Immersion
DekarServerbot replied to JimmyTheGent's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
3rd person cammera, what's the point of having a rich character editor if you won't see what you did? also, i am not playing MODOK but someone with neck and eyes in the head, not the chest -
Having fun but....
DekarServerbot replied to Exodus19's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
so you are playing the fire emblem approach of reloading everytime one of these humanlike companions die? -
I have no issues playing with beta starbound characters, graywarden, inquisitor or shephard... But with fallout 4, in some point i feel that i could not play as Nora Hawke (there is no way to know what her maiden's name was) making even the gender decision completely useless too ala Dragon Age 2 (Eventhough, in that game was more the mage/non-mage Hawke). I understand why Nate would kill Kellogg all the times, go hunt a Courser and accept the rank of general or being a member of the Brotherhood of steel. But Nora, being a lawyer with absolutely no knowledge in combat except from whatever Nate could had teach her between his reinsertion in the civil life working at wilson atomatoys as ammo expertise and any time he was not being a husband and dad of a baby... You can't expect i believe that she would not try to outwit and soft talk Kellogg into helping her after hearing his testimony or she not being able to excuse herself on why she can't be the general, the overboss or the silver shroud and tell those two lazybums and that con artist to MAN UP and stop being useless sissies. And while I understand why Nora would had mixed feeling when arriving the institute, I can't imagine Nate not commiting genocide or shooting his own soon without giving him a chance to explain himself unless he is working for the railroad

the issue is i really hate first person shooter games, that's the main reason i skipped both bioshock and borderlands and will never touch them. It is also the reason i utterly hated fallout 4 combat. I suck at puzzles but i find them entertaining, i am good at slashers but i dislike them, with FPS i both suck and dislike them so, why should i even play them? I hate minecraft too and while i loved playing ark, i hate that various servers restricted me to first person view. And no, it is not "look from your character's eyes", that would only be valid if instead of being humanlike creatures we were MODOK. First person view lacks of peripherical vision, like if i had some kind of helmet blocking my POV and other senses, i play in third person because i can see what's on my side or even detect that noisy zombie/supermutant/dinosaur that is pursuiting me from behind not being stealthy at all.
