Don't think you'll have much luck there. While there are definitely fighting scenes, they're pretty rare in the books as well and many battles and such are kept "off-screen" as it were. That said, can't really remember if there were any noteworthy fights specifically in the Game of Thrones book. But yeah, it's a very talky-talky based series.

Really enjoyed the latest episode, think it might be my favorite one yet. Especially the editing was a bit better in my opinion, with longer scenes and the cuts not nearly as frequent as the last episode. Wasn't sure about Baelish earlier on but really growing to like his performance.

Not something I care about a lot myself but I imagine it will make a lot of people happy.

Dungeon Siege III Art
Starwars replied to Dimitri Berman's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Agree there, I also like that they went with the sorta young-ish, babyfaced but with cold eyes look. -
Ah yes, the now famous creator of Vault 11... Let us commence the stalking, bwahaha!

**** yeah this game is gonne be so MATURE HELL YEAH! *brofists everyone*
-
The teaser trailer was CGI but yeah, that was *extremely* underwhelming. Especially since (if I remember correctly) it came out around the time the Deus Ex CGI trailer also came out, which was pretty bad-ass. Still, in a way I think more simple trailers is pretty fitting for the game.
-
Hehe, nothing complicated but fun stuff. And seems fitting for the game, getting 4 players together must be pretty fun I bet.

Do you have high blood-pressure normally? Either way, if the panic-attacks continue you should try to get it checked out, they can be a real pain in the ass. I haven't done much lately, seems to have caught the obligatory spring/summer cold and am now sneezing my brains out, battling a slight fever and so forth.

I think they're also taking it a bit slowly. I'm sure they're aware that Dungeon Siege wasn't really a "omgwtfbbq" franchise in itself. Something like Deus Ex has a much better reputation overall and has also been on the consoles before, I think it has a much bigger chance of becoming a "smash hit" so to speak. The working relationship between SE and OEI seems to have worked smoothly at least. I'm sure there'll be a decent market push for DS3 before its release though. I'll definitely be doing as much dialogue stuff, and reading up on lore, as I can when playing the game. That is still partially why I look forward to the game, if it had literally only been a hack'n'slash with minimal story then my interest would've been a great deal lower.

It'd be so weird if we got meaty details on Old World Blues before Honest Hearts. I'm pretty interested in what level ranges they aim for. It would seem logical for them to continue the progression *after* Dead Money since Dead Money hints so much at things to come, I imagine it'd be weird to play the Lonesome Road and then Dead Money afterwards due to the hints in Dead Money...
-
And to add to this, Josh mentioned on the SA forums that he is the Project Director for Honest Hearts. EDIT: Dangit, beaten!
-
I don't really care if the others are mid-campaign or not, but, from its description, I really feel like Lonesome Road should be post-main-quest. It just feels like a classic hero's farewell-- the triumphant protagonist not celebrating his victory, but instead marching off into no-man's-land on a much more personal mission, never to return. It's hard to say now of course but I'd definitely agree that from the description (as well as the numerous hints in Dead Money), Lonesome Road definitely feels like the epic, nostalgic, perhaps even tragic DLC. There were two things I thought about right away when reading the description, one was the ending of Fallout 1 with the Vault Dweller wandering away alone and the other was the Exile heading out into the unknown in the ending of KOTOR2. Still, I hope that there won't be too much explicit background on the Courier in it. I still want that blank slate feeling when I start up a new character in NV. But Gstaff said this on the Beth forums:
-
As a slight downer, Gstaff (the Beth community manager) just mentioned in one of the threads at the Beth forums that each DLC will raise the level cap by 5. So, once we have them all the level cap will be level 50. Which means the skill point economy will be shot to hell, which is a shame given that vanilla New Vegas improved this rather a lot from Fallout 3. Not a surprise about the level cap raises of course but still...
-
Finally! And looks like a short wait until Honest Hearts then and then a quick release schedule for the remaining DLCs.
-
It's especially silly that we haven't even gotten a bloody trailer or any info as of yet. I mean, Jason Bergman posted in the patch thread that the first DLC has been ready... I can understand them wanting to hold off the actual release of the DLC until now that the patch has been released. But the fact that they haven't even unveiled it at all is just getting stupid.

I definitely won't mourn the loss of this douchebag, but like some others have said, it's rather odd for celebrating someone dying I think. I mean, I guess it could be considered a symbolic victory but I just have a very hard time believing Usama being gone being a hard blow against the terror networks as they operate today. I mean, it's been 10 years since it was announced that he would be hunted down... Is it cause for celebration or does it speak of a failure of the promises made back then? But I guess that's my ultra left-wing commie senses talking or something. But sure, it's good that he won't be up to no-good anymore.

So the exchange between Jaime, Robert and Barristan was exclusive to the show? I didn't remember it from the book. Really, really enjoyed the scene though, well done. I think Robert is really well cast, there is a really great drunken intensity to him. Jaime and Ned are really great as well, as is Tyrion. Actually I think the casting is good overall. Not too crazy about Viserys, I think they pushed it a bit too far on to the... well, how to put it... Sort of too much on the inefficiently cruel side of things, feels a bit too weak. It was partially like that in the book as well but it really managed to sell the control that Viserys has over Dany (initially at least) in a much more effective way. The Dothraki segments sorta feel a bit out of place to me but it was like that for me in the books as well (though I really enjoy them) because it's such a big switch in culture and feel to the rest of the stuff. Overall the switches in PoVs don't bother me though there were a few cuts in this episode that were really brief which made it feel a bit disjointed at times. But it's a great show to watch and it's moving along at a good pace.

GiantBomb Quick Look EX: Dungeon Siege III
Starwars replied to funcroc's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Both Reinhart and Katarina looks like a lot of fun to play. Think I'm still leaning towards Katarina for my first playthrough but we'll see. They've definitely done a good job on making abilities feel fresh and unique I think. Has it been mentioned how the companions work in single-player. Do you find them as the story goes along and you simply choose who you wish to accompany you? -
Damn, really dig the way the game looks. Love the steampunk feel to this area in particular. Also, it's hard to get a sense of since the video cuts away to Nathaniel talking every now and then but this cave looks like it's fairly large. Interesting set-up for a quest as well, was reminded me of the Arcanum orc labor unions, hehe. It does show off a bit what often holds back hack'n'slashers for me though which is that it just looks a bit repetitive here, lots of monsters to kill. Though I guess that's the draw for a lot of people as well. Also, punching goblins off bridges = lol.

I started up a new replay of NV a while back, vainly believing that Honest Hearts would be revealed this century but it appears we'll have to wait. Still gonna save the character I've got going for it though. But I'm playing Dead Money for the second time now. I really enjoy the companions, they are really excellent. Dean Domino's one cool cat.

^---- "To cleanse the water, first he must cleanse the wasteland." I love it. Anyways, the patch is up on STEAM now. No more patch notes than the ones detailing the weapon balance changes but there are other things as well in it (optimizations and bug fixes).

I'm really liking it so far. As always, one must be a fool to expect a series to go into the same depth as the books do. It's just not going to happen, the mediums are too different and the books can take their time in a completely different way. Subtleties will be missed. This is not exactly news. I mean, of course one can argue on what should be in or not but you're simply not going to capture it all. It's an impossibility. Plus, the story-telling will have to work differently because the books are constantly switching sides between characters and showing off different sides. You can't work the subtleties in the same way in a TV-show with limited time to offer. I think Sansa so far is ok, hard to say. But I think it's a tough character to play as well because in the books, I found it pretty painful to read her chapters as first. I found the whole "innocent, wide-eyed young girl" theme to be really overdone with her. One of my main complaints about the earlier parts of the books actually. So far, I think Eddard, Robert, Tyrion and Danerys are the strongest members of the cast.

The short gist of the podcast is that the guy found the PC controls hard to use in some cases (he mentions blocking specifically) but it seems the controls weren't completely finished as they were apparently patching in stuff for the preview version. Other than that he mentions that the game is a lot of fun to play, he was playing as Anjali while his buddy uses Lucas. They also mention Mask of the Betrayer and Ziets which is a nice nod and gives them some RPG cred I suppose, hehe.

Offical Website updates/expanded
Starwars replied to C2B's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I'm inclined to agree with Tigranes on this. It'd be a much different story if the game was a sort of persistant server (as seen in the NWN games), a world that you continously could log in to. But for co-op as seen in this game? Just don't really see what the fuzz is about.
