Dungeon Siege III Art
Starwars replied to Dimitri Berman's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Really like the First People (including the Shaman) and the Archon art. Great stuff. -
Aww come now, why would you want to leave the forum where we speculate more on whether other people will like the game, or if PR is doing a good job, rather than the game itself?
-
Yeah, this is all info that's been known since the first details were released basically.

There are 3 different brains you can get for Rex I believe. Each provides its own bonuses to Rex, and his ending slide will change depending on which brain you got for him as well.

Hey, I'm not really disagreeing. In fact, I'm with the camp who'd rather not see it in DS3 but... This is just one of those discussions that's been around for such a long time, can't take it seriously anymore. I have a female friend who's like that as well, always likes the sexy characters unless they're *really* overdone (Ivy was mentioned earlier for example). -

There's not any new information about the game that I could tell. Mostly the guy seemed to think it was fun but not particularly memorable (he clearly preferred Bastion and felt that was more exciting). There was also a bit of a discussion about how much hardcore gamers vs casual gamers (casual gamers seemingly being a fairly large part of the target audience with the drop-in co-op stuff) will care about the game and so forth. -
Also, regarding Dean: I really liked Dead Money, thought it was really neatly designed and constructed. But I also agree with mkreku in that I hope we'll some more free environs in upcoming DLCs as well.

First, make sure to restart STEAM. Sometimes it seems to mess up the download and will resume downloading after a restart or some such. As for playing, I just walked around in the game for a minute or two before there was a pop-up with the radio signal and all that jazz.

Think one problem is that the game doesn't really look to be designed for up-close, action shots, yet there is a fair bit of it in the trailer. The game looked really gorgeous in some of those recent preview vids, like the Machinima one for example and they focused mostly on the more top-down perspective. Don't think the auto-fire that you mention there looks particularly clunky though. It doesn't look awesome to watch but I think you can almost tell how it would feel to use it, sorta "spray" from side to side and catch enemies in the range of fire. I wonder if it's an ability. -

Agree that it looks a bit like Devil May Cry. Not a negative thing in my book though as I always liked how that looked. She looks like she could be tremendous fun to play with pistols, rifle, magic and hounds. While Lucas seems a bit more of a "simple" melee character, both Anjali and Katarina seem pretty inspired in terms of their abilities. -
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusiv...on-siege/712096 This is the chick with guns. Silly clothes but she looks cool enough, might be the first character I play because... guns.

Yes, I won't have to worry about David Cage having even the most remote of chances of contaminating my PC.

Let me just say that you better be prepared to see a *lot* of weird internal "logic" like that in the game. It's not one of the game's strenghts, that's for sure.

Somebody give this man a developer tag! Always fun to have more devs on the forums. -
Just finished the game with a female rogue, sided with the mages. Really mixed feelings on the game. I think I mostly feel that there is a lot of unfulfilled potential in the game. The combat system was a lot more fun to use than I expected but Jesus, the encounter design really sucks. Loved the idea of a city-adventure but the city doesn't really feel dynamic enough... It feels too static. Plus, since it's so condensed to the Kirkwall area, the constant battles (not to mention presence of blood-mages, apostates and spells thrown in the street) really makes the universe feel very inconsistant. Never was a fan of introducing the dialogue wheel and I don't feel the writing for Hawke was strong enough to warrant its inclusion. The family is another interesting feature but ultimately I didn't care one bit for them. The time jumps is another interesting thing and I think it worked fairly well for the companions but again... Kirkwall feels far too static, it doesn't really feel like the game progresses much. Obviously, 3 years isn't a huge amount of time but I think some more changes to Kirkwall was desperately needed between the acts. Like someone pointed out, Act 2 was the best. The ramping up of the Qunari conflict was well-done and introduced a really nice tension to the game. If the entire game had been on that level, I would've enjoyed it a lot more. As is, I found Act 1 to be extremely boring and Act 3 was sorta... meh. A bit mediocre. It's not that the mage vs templar conflict isn't interesting (the mage situation is one of my fav pieces of the DA world I'd say) but the characters (Meredith and Orsino) aren't interesting enough and it never reaches the same level of tension as Act 2. Plus, I still goddamn hate the RPG trope of having the final levels huge combat romps, and the final boss was so messy at times I had trouble seeing what the hell was happening. The most positive thing about the game is that there are occasional quests where I think Bioware really hit the grey morality thing way better than they've done in the past. There were several moments in the game where I had to pause for a few moments to decide. Also, I didn't like the companions at all near the start but they are real growers. In the end, I quite liked them all. Isabela was the only one I felt was a bit much. I actually liked the idea of the "sexually free" pirate wench but I think they push it a bit too far, especially in the banter. Yes yes Isabela, we know you like sex, that's awesome. Same with Meril... Yes, we know you're the adorable, insecure elf. I don't mind that it's part of the character at all but stop hammering my head with it. Overall, I think I enjoyed the game a bit more than I thought I would. But I still think there are *parts* of it that are truly... really bad actually, and as a sequel to DA it's a big disappointment for me personally. Very mixed feelings on it.

Pretty cool! -
I'm pretty much of the opposite opinion there. Think KOTOR was a horrible game throughout. It hit the classic Star Wars film note well but that is not really what I'd consider a compelling RPG experience at all. And yeah, the combat was horribly boring. Jade Empire isn't amazing I think but was ultimately a much more interesting game.

I've been playing the game for a bit and I think it's been pretty disappointing for the most part quite honestly. However, I can also say that it is a game that does get a bit better the longer it goes on. The real killer for me is definitely the encounter design which is a damn shame because the combat system is pretty fun if a bit too fast. The "spawn-waves" gets old *really* fast and you'll soon learn to anticipate just how and where the spawns are set-up. "Yeah, only a few enemies left in this wave which means it's time to move back to that passage I just passed through because the game will definitely spawn a few enemies there that will likely go after your mage." It gets old extremely quick which is a shame because encounters are frequent in the combat areas. Another failed opportunity is Kirkwall itself. I loved the idea of a "city-adventure", and while the city looks pretty and has an interesting history to it, it ultimately feels extremely non-interactive and... not very interesting. Very little happens except that you'll get the occasional new quest NPC in the areas. It really needed more attention overall because you spend such a large amount of time in it. The voiced main character is sorta ho-hum. I went with a female Hawke who mostly does the sarcastic thing, but most of the time the humor sorta falls flat. A lot of the wit in the game (and there is a fair amount of it) just sorta fails most of the time because it's just... not funny enough. That said, some of the quests that aren't fed-ex quests (again, there are a fair amount of those) have interesting choices to them and I am interested to see how this will play out in the grand scheme of the game. I hope they will come through on the consequence thing because there is much potential there in terms of how the time-line moves forward. And I think that some of the quests *really* get the grey morality right. Some of them really did a good job of making me scratch my head a bit before choosing. I never liked the direction they were taking with DA2 but the game so far has kinda failed even in the areas I really *were* looking forward to. So, pretty disappointed so far. But, like I said, I do feel the game is getting a bit better as I play more and more.

Like WUE said, we don't know how the control scheme works on PC. But it seems very doubtful that there'd be an auto-attack system (like NWN2 or what have you) given how based the game seems to be around action and movement. It will require you to be active from moment to moment, not a more tactical type of gameplay where you issue orders.

Damn, those Gamespot vids make the game look really nice. The convos seem fun too, loved the password door, hehe. But yeah, the clothes on that witch... ridiculous. -
I... uh... wait... what?

Heavy Rain is like the worst goddamn game ever to receive such good scores and be considered "art" and all that stuff. It's absolutely terrible. David Cage should be flogged in public though I'm pretty sure he'd enjoy it so not much point.
