@ WITHTEETH Dude.....................eww. @ People who dislike booth babes because they think those fine ladies distract prospective buyers from their wares. I stare at the girls, sure, but that's because I'm a 17-year-old male. It's in the job description. If given the choice between spending time with a gorgeous model and the latest, best games...I'll take the model. Of course, that's if I'm not at a place I've gone to specifically to see said games...and have paid money to enter. I'll keep on staring, and will long after I've left the immediate booth area, but at E3, the games win out. As has been said, if a scantily clad woman can take my attention away from the game...which is supposed to be "teh uber awesum"...then there's a problem. They add atmosphere...and are a very pleasant background. That......and they're barely clothed, hot chicks......what guy in his right mind wouldn't want one around?

Irony incarnate. Was that directed at me? Unless I'm failing to detect sarcasm...that line about Voice-acting not costing anything is......not smart and it's a good "excuse" when cash is the be all and end all in the gaming industry...if you don't have enough, you can't do certain things. The longer a dev time runs, I assume, the more it costs. We can argue about this until our damned fingers fall off but there's one basic thing it all comes down to...as I've said, that one thing is Implementation. Timers themselves aren't inherently bad or good. It's how they're used, within the context of the game, that's the key.

Only issue I have with it is the censorship...I mean...I can understand nudity, but bathing suit bottoms? What, are they going to enforce a dress code at the beach now? I also get where Mr. Sawyer is coming from...oggling babes does take time away from oggling games.......with their sweet, sweet voluptuous pixels.

Sorry again, just got the distinct feeling I was being insulted. In a nice subtle way, which I like, but hell, I was wrong. Wouldn't be the first time, or the last. As for the games described, like I said, some timers work well with the game, others don't. All of those given, in their own way, are great examples of how timers in games should be implemented. After all, that's the main problem; implementation. Now, as Kitty's said, a timer for the entire game that runs out causing you to instantly lose, no ifs, ands, or buts, is...problematic. Then again, it also depends a great deal on whether such a timer works in the context of the game itself, like in Fallout. Seems like a balancing of the different parts of the whole is needed to make that certain mechanic enjoyable for the player. I'd assume most devs don't want to risk losing a larger profit due to an error in judgement of that magnitude...since something as simple as a timer can disrupt the flow of the game, or wreck it entirely depending, again, on its implementation. I'm rambling, so I'll shut up now.

Quick question: Do you want development cycles to last, at the shortest, five or six years? Be realistic. Creating a massive, thriving world filled with billions of NPCs takes time. Time and capital. Unless you're all right with waiting half a decade and spending over $100 per game, then I'd suggest a more rational line of thought. I know it's not what you were suggesting, but it's an extreme which deserves an extreme to counter it.

I'd think that it would be obvious how an overall time limit is tied to the real world. If I wait a week to do something, that week is gone forever...and we all eventually die. Time is, for some odd reason, a crucial factor in life. I'm with CrashGirl. Why would I want my gaming experience, a time when I'm supposed to be escaping the constraints of reality, to be "bogged" down in it? Ease up on the realism (And yes, what you're asking for with more widely used timers is, in a way, advocating realism.) and add more entertainment value.

The scores, hopefully, indicate that these two teams will be fairly evenly matched. I want this Super Bowl to be an actual game. The last couple have really....well...sucked.

I finally got the archive to work...and I like it. Pretty game, solid voice acting, cool mechanics, non-lame micromanagment, Star Wars...I think I'm in love. Granted, it's not Starcraft, but still looks to be a worthy title.

Done downloading, but now there's apparently something wrong with the damn archive.

The song "Heavy Price Paid" from the Halo 2 soundtrack is instrumental...and kinda sad sounding. I generally don't listen to depressing music, since all it does is just depress me. Why would I want that?

Thank you.

Thac0...I still don't really get. It'd help if I knew what each letter stood for. The older AC system I got immediately...lower equals better. (If we're even referring to BG's rule set. If not, tell me to "STFU N00B".)

It'll be done in another 25 minutes.

Couple get 9 years prison for Wendy's finger scam
LoneWolf16 replied to Arkan's topic in Way Off-Topic
How? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't think that was possible...considering the state it's in already. As for the sentence......I'm with LadyCrimson. Let them rot in a minimum security prison. They shouldn't have to spend years and years with people who'd kill them as soon as look at them. The severity of the crime doesn't warrant death, by any means. -
There an internet version available? I'm reading Dean Koontz's Fear Nothing.

Just to join in on all the er...fun...**** the patriots. Kill, skin, and mangle MY Jags, will ya? Oh, and the Bears....that game sucked. What was up with the line? Grossman wasn't exactly on the ball either...made some great throws though once he found his, partial, stride.

Every Game should be like them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed.
