  1. Aramintai, I imagine having a female perspective shoved into your head when you're a guy probably doesn't exactly make the IDEA of sexual relationships all that appealing. As to DA:O, I liked the fact that they weren't "player-sexual" but rather had their own preferences. This is just like the real world, people have their specific preferences. It's not about being "hung up about gender". It's about what they like. Though in regards to Xoti, she seemed more interested in Eder than my character. She didn't even look at me.
  2. Mort, thanks for the info about enchantments. So basically (keeping it simple) Create Unique Weapon Create Recipes that are "upgrades" for said weapon Then all you'd have to do is list on the unique weapon the valid "recipes" for upgrades.
  3. Sorry, I don't have the answer. I just found the files and noted the numbers, along with cases where it obviously came with a companion. Like Pallegina's armor. The names of the files made it obvious she'd only get one. So I listed that she had three options. Hatchet has a weird one (for example). There are technically two xoti's sickles. One of them is named Xoti's sickle in game files, the other is not. One is simply a hatchet (for type) that does slash/pierce damage and is called Xoti's sickle while the other has all the whistles and bells of Xoti's actual weapon and is ALSO called Xoti's Sickle.
  4. Ok, I just went and did a quick test. Consoled the gems needed for Quality. No freerecipestoggle code being used. Whispers of the Endless Paths. Upgraded it to Superb. Legendary appeared as an upgrade. Didn't test it with multiple pieces of gear, but it appears if you have the coin and the mats, you can upgrade the quality of Uniques multiple times. Disclaimer: Quality upgrade may vary from Unique to Unique.
  5. I didn't look into it too heavily. So of course I could definitely be wrong. Or as AndreaColombo said, it could be a case of the console code permitting you to take it beyond one upgrade for quality. It was interesting to see that there were multiple upgrade options available however. The best way to find out the upgrade limits is to console a bunch of mats and do it without the freerecipestoggle code. This could be handy to know this for designing various Builds. Knowing the limits of specific weapons / armor could come in handy. Since some folks are already making builds that have synergy with certain weapons. One is up called the Green Knight and its built to take advantage of a specific Quarterstaff.
  6. It appears to be a "tree" of sorts. Some upgrades lock out other upgrades. I only did a cursory examination of how it functioned.
  7. Dude, you are our hero! There is a thread about the lack of uniques for certain weapon types. How "unique" are we talking about? IE different enchantment upgrades or just a unique set of stats? If you've figured out how to create various enchantment upgrades you have really opened things up to filling in the gaps for gear.
  8. I was just using the models as one thing I've seen a chunk of complaints on. I know I'm not the only one who is working on this. There were folks who made tweaks and changes during the beta as well. Anyway, back on topic! Not really sure what else (besides discussing specific weapons) that can be said. Each enchanted weapon really has a lot of variety and deciding which route to take on enchantment is important. Soulbound weapons are easy as they have a single route, but weapons you can enchant have several upgrade paths. That is something that I find interesting and couldn't have been easy to design.
  9. I am looking at learning how to mod. Figure it'll keep me busy. As I know there are a number of things people aren't happy with (many modals have received a number of complaints for example). Starting with easy stuff, tweaking (keeping same point total) stats for companions. Easy stuff. Technically "cheating" but since I'm not changing the stat total, I think its reasonable. And I'm not doing a min-max of things like Aloth with a 4 Constitution. Eventually I'll see if I can understand more complex stuff. I may view numbers as a necessary evil, but it can still be interesting understanding how the numbers work. Eventually maybe I'll embrace making small tweaks to weapons. Maybe.
  10. Ashen Rohk ... even I couldn't enjoy Torment and I DO like dialogue. I think it was the fact they used excessive foreign word porn. Instead of modifiers, debuffs or buffs, it was a Fettle. One such example of how they constantly tried to reinvent the wheel in regards to terminology. I'm sure its a solid story, but they were excessive in the use of words that didn't need to be quite so pretentious or fancified. The majority of the text in the game would have abysmally failed what is called the Fog Index (it's a way to measure how wordy your writing is). Sometimes a Goblin is a Goblin. There is no reason to call it a Geruk-Tul from the Southern Reaches. Unless the Geruk-Tul are vastly different from goblins in terms of culture and one can tell them apart in some fashion. THEN you can call them the Geruk-Tul. Brevity is the soul of wit after all. Now the writing was due to the source material. So I can't fault the folks who designed T:TON.
  11. You've got a good Might score. So something isn't adding up. A legendary weapon increases your weapons base penetration. Dealing 3-5 sounds like you're facing high slash resist enemies. Because a Legendary weapon also bumps the base weapon damage by like 60%, as well as bumps Accuracy. So you should be doing a lot more than 3-5 damage per hit.
  12. A city that big, and considered the "big thing" for the entire game is MEANT to be done in chunks. I mean, Dragon Age 2 was a relatively large city and it was done in chunks. So, yes, this is entirely a You issue of complaining about wanting to grab ALL the quests and then whining about all the dialogue that comes with quests. Quests involve dialogue! That's a given for any RPG. It's not a mmorpg where farmer john says "go kill 5 bandits. they're making it hard for me to farm." and that's about the extent of the quest dialogue. Oh, and I made a beeline for the city, I'm level 5 currently, and the combat has been relatively plentiful. If you're inside a city, combat IS going to be a lot more sparse! I mean, that's just common sense. Guards exist to keep the peace. Ergo, if you're wandering around the city, you're Not going to find a lot of fights. Unless you force them, and that usually isn't a good thing with City Guards around.
  13. Me, I'm the odd bloke. I tend to prefer things that aren't popular. Given a choice of weapons I'll go for Staff, Flail or Two Handed Maul. Given a choice of elemental magics I'll go for Water or Air (or derivatives). There are weapons that are cool but don't get the attention they deserve. The same is true of elemental magic. If it was possible to CREATE weapons in the engine (being realistic) I'd be working on ideas to increase the number of choices to at least 4-5 for every weapon. Sadly, looking at the enchantment system, it sounds like creating even ONE unique weapon would be an act of congress. Even if we didn't create unique skins, I'm sure creating and adding a weapon into the game wouldn't be easy to do from the player side.
  14. Had some time while doing laundry to look at some of the Uniques and the enchantment options. Enchantments are far more than strengthening some aspect of the weapon. One weapon (for example) has a penalty & buff built into the same enchantment. You can either eliminate the penalty and reduce the buff or you can increase the penalty AND the buff. Some enchantments also ADD extra features. Like going from a straight +burn damage to "+burn damage AND portion of the burn damage heals you". I can see why the number of "uniques" seems smaller in this game. There is a lot more variety when you take into account the variety of ways you can enchant the same weapon. I just wish there was a better spread. I mean, there is ONE unique club and you can buy it in Port Maje. Though I must admit that one club is pretty nasty.
  15. Someone is working on a full console over on Nexus right now. It's rather limited (for now), and it doesn't disable achievements. I'm mostly keeping an eye on the Nexus mods because it seems a bunch of folks are unhappy with the modals. If I knew how to find the modals I'd look at them myself. But I'm not very savvy with programming at any level these days.
  16. I updated the list to specify companion specific gear. IE Hatchet: 3 Unique, 1 Companion(Xoti). So there are a total of 4 Unique Hatchets, but one of them is Xoti's gear (I haven't looked to see if the gear has a Character Only restriction.)
  17. Priests and Druids get a specific spell per power level. Priests of Eothas for example get Sunbeam automatically at level 1. These free spells don't count against their normal limit. It's part of their "subclass". Chanters get a Phrase AND an Invocation at level 1. Not sure about the other classes off hand.
  18. Xoti has some interesting commentary about what is going on with Eothas. I had a talk with her on the ship. Talked about her faith in Gaun. And one of her comments really struck home. "Everything comes back changed, even a God." And I think she's struggling with that fact. Mind you, I'm not too far into the game. I just reached the big city.
  19. AndreaColombo, I forgot to include it in that list! My bad. I updated the numbers and included gloves. Total of 5 gloves, 3 that were Unique. I was only listing Uniques and Soulbound items. There are(for example) around 30 non-magical Helms.
  20. I was curious about the spread myself. This is what I found for specific numbers (which may be off due to unusual naming structures). I included Armor, Shields as well as all the other slots (save for grimoires) for completion. I'm avoiding specific names due to potential spoilers (I know this area is spoiler warning but no need to spoil TOO much!). This also includes companion specific gear as well. I did notice the Grimoire slot for Wizards is labelled as Grimoire / Trinket. Has anyone found any "trinkets" in game that are equipped in that slot? Or is it simply leftover code and a tooltip that hasn't been updated. ONE HANDED WEAPONS DAGGER: 2 Unique, 1 Soulbound HATCHET: 3 Unique, 1 Companion(Xoti) RAPIER: 2 Unique SABER: 8 Unique STILETTO: 2 Unique CLUB: 1 Unique FLAIL: 5 Unique MACE: 1 Unique, 1 Soulbound WARHAMMER: 2 Unique SPEAR: 3 Unique SWORD: 9 Unique, 1 Soulbound BATTLE AXE: 2 Unique TWO HANDED WEAPONS ESTOC: 3 Unique PIKE: 2 Unique GREAT SWORD: 6 Unique POLLAXE: 1 Unique, 1 Soulbound QUARTERSTAFF: 3 Unique MORNING STAR: 3 Unique RANGED WEAPONS WAR BOW: 3 Unique HUNTING BOW: 1 Unique CROSSBOW: 1 Unique ARBALEST: 1 Unique ARQUEBUS: 3 Unique, 1 Soulbound BLUNDERBUSS: 2 Unique, 2 Companion(Serafen) PISTOL: 3 Unique ROD: 3 Unique SCEPTER: 2 Unique, 1 Companion(Aloth) WAND: 1 Unique ARMOR ROBE: 3 Unique PADDED ARMOR: 2 Unique, 1 Companion(Maia) HIDE ARMOR: 2 Unique LEATHER ARMOR: 3 Unique, 1 Companion(Aloth) SCALE ARMOR: 2 Unique, 1 Companion(Eder) BREASTPLATE: 3 Unique, 3 Companion (all Pallegina, and it appears you can only get one of them) MAIL ARMOR: 3 Unique, 1 Companion(Serafen) BRIGANDINE: 2 Unique PLATE ARMOR: 3 Unique SHIELDS SMALL SHIELD: 3 Unique, 1 Companion(Xoti) MEDIUM SHIELD: 3 Unique LARGE SHIELD: 4 Unique GEAR HELM: 20 Unique NECK: 18 Unique CLOAK: 14 Unique GLOVE: 3 Unique BELT: 8 Unique RING: 5 Unique BOOT: 4 Unique EDIT: Forgot the Gloves! 21. Balbanes, now I'm going to have to go take a look at the opening area and see how different it is. That curious part of my personality demands it. I never even looked at hte options as I had a history already built.
  22. Voss, the "shallow" pampered boy being thrust into the real world is a common trope used in writing. They tend not to handle it well for awhile. Eventually they either adapt, learn to harden up, or they quite simply fall apart. All three, from a story standpoint can be quite interesting, if written well.
  23. Durance was a character I could never like. There is nothing wrong with properly and sparsely used "vulgar language". The key words there are "properly" and "sparsely". A well timed F Bomb can do wonders for a conversation. But when every other sentence is loaded with vulgar speech of some sort, it quickly loses any potency it would have otherwise had. That was Durance in a nutshell. He was excessive in his use of language. I'm not saying you have to be a Knight in Shining Armor. I'm just saying that the idea of "all things in moderation" is king when it comes to writing. I'm early into PoE2 (haven't decided on what class combo to play yet) and Eder's comment about his "friend" was well used. One of your responses of course was "you could have stopped a few sentences ago." Which made it all the more amusing of course. It was also funny because he didn't stop to consider Xoti's gender and whisper it in your ear or something.
  24. Someone on steam had the same issue. It's fixable. You have to manually edit the .ini file to change the resolution of the game.
  25. The option to wear a loincloth for a guy? Nothing screams crazy and a bit dangerous like a guy with a big hammer who is wearing nothing but a loincloth! A lot of things I may want can easily be modded in. From what I've heard they made modding the game a LOT easier this time around. And I fully expect there will be players who will take it upon themselves to mod the weapon modals out the wazoo.
