  1. What are the good abilities? Gunner and Marksman? I have to repeat myself: Evasive Fire is good. Apparently nobody ever used it because nobody answers when I bring it up. It's a very good mobility skill that also does decent single target damage and is very fast. But they keep saying that ranger's abilites are bad... Accurate Wounding Shot (Full Attack with +20 ACC and a bit of raw damage for only 1 Bond) is pretty good, too. Marked for the Hunt is also decent. Just because there are several pet abilites doesn't mean that the whole class is bad. As I said before: having an animal companion is a huge advantage per se. If people don't like the animal companion and feel that the rest of the ranger's abilites that don't include the pet are not exactly OP (surprise surprise!) then why not take another class for a ranged build instead of trying to play a crippled ranger? I agree that high level abilites feel pretty uninspired and not thought through. Twinned Shot is just bad. Do you think skills like heal pet and rivive are necessary?
  2. I don't forget the pet, however the discussion was about the ranged damage potential... And right now the ranger should be considered the pet and the animal your main. But the animal companion is part of the damage a ranger deals. So with Marked Prey, Stalker's Link, + animal companion, the ranger is fairly lethal. I've always considered the animal companion a sort of ranged weapon, part of the ranger ethos. That said, I do wish the ranger had a boost or two with ranged weapons. You know, that whole "range" part of "ranger" thing. Or at least reduce some of the malus effects of the talents/skills. Still one of my favorite classes and an effective multi-class choice. Joe OTOH, I consider the animal companion to be a pain in the posterior and NOT part of the Ranger ethos. A/C's should have been a level 1 ability that you got to choose whether or not you wanted to have one as a ranger. Not everybody likes dragging around a damned pet that you have to dump ability points into when some might prefer to put them entirely into the Ranger and not worry about the bleeping animal. Not to sound negative but are you for real? Ranger is a pet class, don't like it? Fine take a Fighter or Rogue for your ranged dmg.
  3. In the roque case yes it scales, however I don't think the 30% from pet scales, if it dows they really need to add more info.
  4. Are you using level scalling? If so, even if you only scale up it disables the indicator. They call it a feature but i call it bull****. I really hope they fix this ASAP
  5. What should result in higher companion DPS then? Always +15 DMG and +2 Penetration or the +30% DMG when sneaking? Especially because you mentioned that sneak attacks work on any affliction witch means almost always.
  6. The tooltip for this skill is bugged, if you hover Perception Afflictions you get the info that you expect, however if you hover Intellect Afflictions you get 2 separated tooltips, 1 for each word.
  7. I always tough the only way to trigger sneak attacks was hitting the target from behind, however this does not seem to be the case. For example when someone is knocks down it is also triggered. What other cc can trigger sneak attacks? I am especially curious in other to decide if the Ranger +30% sneak dmg on pets is worth it or not. Also, what about ranged weapons?
  8. Really looking for updates on this issue, it is extremely frustrating right now. I really don’t want to restart my game because of a bad design decision. The indicator should work when the “only scale up” option is enabled.
  9. I guess that it's just a matter of taste. I don't find the ability to reach out and shoot the enemy boring at all. Good way to keep all those pointy swords out of a character, after all. But for what it's worth, you can play a tanky Stalker if you want to get up close and personal ... and let those mean, nasty guys swing at you with their pointy swords! I was not clear on what I meant at all, sorry for that. I meant it can get boring for some people. I love the kill stuff from far away approach. That is also why I made the sniper post :D I am extremely allergic to pointy sticks.
  10. Does gunner work with bows and xbows? Thanks for the tip about the ghost companion. I will have. Look in it.
  11. I do t think they are weak at all... Devoted/Sharpshooter or Assasination/Sharpshooter will two-shot most things. However they are kinda boring just standing still and shooting every few seconds.
  12. Hey guys, I have been testing some things out. I am quite new to this game (Like everyone else ). I want to build a Sniper character that uses the Ranger's Sharpshooter subclass together with the Fighter's Devoted subclass. What I am looking for is maximum damage and a high hit/crit rate. I am especially having problems distributing my stats and selecting my abilities. I understand that I want high might and perception but what about dexterity? It is worth spending some points in it, in order to lower the high reload times or will this not change a lot? What about constitution and resolve? Do I need it? Can I lower it? Should I leave them at 10? Can anyone share a good stats spread with me? About the abilities, I am mostly wondering what active abilities I need. For example, do I need the heal pet? Should I spend more points in the active portion or the passive? Right now I am focusing on the passive side. Like the -20% reload time and +15% damage with 2-handed weapons. As you can guess, any help is appreciated!
  13. +1 I have been running into the same issue. But I have to say, I am very impressed with every other option, we can do pretty much anything.
  14. Guys, I am a bit scared. I have no idea about any hardware so I will ask it here. Can I run the game at least on medium? Specs: i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 12 GB Ram & AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series.
