As the self-proclaimed King Weeb of these boards, I've been fulfilling my duties by reading Light Novels the past couple weeks. 4 volumes of Konosuba so far. The anime is quite a bit better, but the novels are fun. And 2 volumes of Re:Zero. I couldn't say if the anime or the LN are better, but I love them both to death. The anime is faithful and the scenes are brought to life wonderfully with fine voice acting, the LN goes into a bit more detail and gets you better into Subaru's mind, enhancing the highs and lows.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - FREE WHITE HOUSE MONTAGE
Tale replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
The 'enhanced' part is supposed to be patched in later. There's quite an uproar about it, too. The only thing that's "later" is they didn't have the digital deluxe up at launch. Unless you're talking about how they want to do additional content. The enhancements are relatively minor. Iit feels like an update, not a remaster. -
Me neither.

Mastery of Nature was changed for 2.0. It's no longer for tile blockers, but increases the size of a planet. The utility of that I've seen arguments around, but it's now at least consistent throughout the game.

Stellaris made some changes in the latest beta that were very relevant to my current game. Namely they stopped Driven Assimilators from getting Machine Worlds and merged Ringworlds into Galactic Wonders. I loaded up my save and saw that I still had Machine Worlds, but Ringworlds is gone and I had a perk freed up. I want to say to anyone interested that if you're playing beta, or if you're waiting for it to hit a release version, don't play on Ensign difficulty. It's kind of a joke. Until last night's update, all of the AI empires were starving on both food and power. And even after it, none of them can actually afford a fleet of more than a handful of corvettes.

Some Curse of Monkey Island, probably too much Stellaris, and I hit up some Geometry Wars 3 to kill time. Better in some regards than other adventure games of its time, but I do so prefer adventure games that highlight or shine interactable objects. Nothing more frustrating than checking every room over only to miss out on a single glove.

I started up Nioh last night. I wanted to play with the big katana (Odachi) and found out it was much bigger and clumsier than I expected. Geeze, is that even a real weapon? (Looking at wikipedia now, it doesn't look like they were quite that big.) So now I've switched to a regular Katana instead. I played the last beta they had and remember it being the toughest Soulslike I'd ever played. But playing now, and getting to the same area as from that beta, it's seeming much easier. I'm definitely glad they got rid of weapon degredation, though.

I finished Chaos;Child. I can tell that I really got attached to the character by how disappointed I was in the ending. I'm not sure what that means for my overall opinion of the game.

Because nobody else is quite able to catch the majesty of 24/7 2-Fort with max playercount, spamming the entrances to hold the line for hours at a time. So they need tricks and gimmicks to keep people playing. -
Still on Stellaris. I eventually joined a federation with a Rogue Servitor and a Hive Mind. The League of non-aligned worlds hates me, sees me as a threat since I single handedly fought them all off in the War In Heaven and then wiped out four Fallen/Awakened Empires. The fifth was devoured by the Contingency. And once the Contingency was gone, the mutual threat modifier was gone, so even the "nice" members of the League hate my guts. And maybe for blowing up that one capital planet. But I've got allies, I've got vassals, and there's a purifier empire out there that's probably the second strongest empire in the game. The purifier is well situated with only one way into his sprawling empire, and his direct enemy is the same guy I've been exploding, so it's easy pickings. So it's not quite me against the whole galaxy. I'm almost at 2700 at this point, but I'm not quitting until I hit a victory screen. Also Chaos;Child. I'm really loving it, it's almost as good as Steins;Gate. Going through some side routes that are filler on the way to the true end.

I wasn't a fan either. The ideas everyone says he had for how ME3 could end I thought were simply a different bad from the ending we ended up getting. The characters were what made ME2 for me, and that work was spread around various writers, not just the two leads. And you just had me search and find out there were two BG2 novels! A Shadow of Amn one I've heard terrible things about and a Throne of Bhaal one I had no idea existed. -
Jessica Jones Jessica Jones Jessica Jones Jessica Jones! Season 1 is my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe anything.

I said I'd do it. Belm, the homeworld of the Belmacosoans is now a fantastic mining deposit. 16 minerals! I kind of feel sorry, because this was the same empire I played the first time I encountered a War In Heaven, where I lead the galaxy to victory as the League. But they made an enemy of me. The Contingency hit, because of course it's the Contingency, I've only ever had the Unbidden once and the Prethoryn showed up for an observer game I wasn't playing. I'm like a Contingency freaking expert. If anything else showed up at this point, I'd get terrified and quit the game immediately. For the first time, it seems, they only had one hub in my territory. I crushed that and am letting the rest of the galaxy deal with it. I'm going to turn on the Awakened Empires in my borders and take all their stuff. Debating whether I should blow up the Xenophile's homeworld or not. The jerk made me a signatory! If I hit the Xenophile hard enough and fast enough, wipe him out in a single war, all his subjects should become mine. If I fall just a bit short, the subjects may rebel while I'm in a forced truce, then they'll join the League. Just makes the mopup more tedious.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - NOW IN 5$ LOOT BOXES

It's good marketing. I would have bought Far Cry 5 and the season pass already, just to also get Far Cry 3, if I didn't already have such a huge backlog of games to prioritize first. -
The Spiritualists did not awaken. They have been crushed and left with two pitiful planets I don't even want. The Xenophobes did awaken, however. They are on the far side of the galaxy. Then the Xenophiles awoke and they are one of two F/AE's fully ensconced in my borders. Oh boy. The other are the Machines. So when the War In Heaven came, I bent the knee. And honestly, I'd rather it be me against 4/5ths the galaxy of regular empires than me against the AE with 4/5th the galaxy supporting me. I am so crushing them. I have 3 fleets expanding in 3 different directions, destroying everything in their path. And I finally have the first claim against me of the game. It's 2430+ and someone finally hates me enough to claim a system I own. That I just stole from them, so I guess I should forgive it. Forgiveness comes in the form of me beelining for their homeworld to crack it into little pieces. It's time I stopped playing nice.

I bought Nioh on sale last night. When will I play it, who knows?! Latest game of Stellaris is on hold because Chaos;Child is picking up. I got through two pretty serious twists in just two days, both of which I saw coming, but were paired with things I did not see coming.

Highway cleanup is hard. A meetup I'm part of has adopted a highway, about a 2 mile stretch of one anyway, and we went out and cleaned it up a bit yesterday. Even though the overall distance traveled is less than my jog, the work ended up being quite a bit harder and left my legs sore all yesterday. I also think my thumb is developing a blister from using the grabber.

Ended up playing Stellaris until 4 at night by accident. I'm playing my authoritarian materialist shadow anthropods. It's so much easier than my Driven Assimilators because nobody hates me. They're terrified of me, envious of my tech, so they start making deals with me. And that makes them like me even more. Nobody has dared so much as rival me the entire game. That's how terrifying my empire is to them. Which kind of puts a damper on the idea of me playing better-than-thou despots who go around kicking the crap out of everyone who doesn't give us some respect. Because they all give me respect! Anytime someone is losing a war and down to their last planet, they come beg to be my protectorate. And the people trying to conquer them turn around and says "Oh, they're with you? We had no idea!" The only people who look at me cross-eyed are the Spiritualist Fallen Empire. And that's because I went Synthetic Ascension. Oh man, they really hate me and they don't know how to handle it. Every few years, they start a war (they've done it 3 so far and show no sign of stopping) to humiliate me. But even they're terrified of fighting me, so they go and try to pick on this guy I have a defensive pact with whose sole remaining territory is on the other side of the galaxy. But I'm literally next door to the Spiritualist FE. So when they run off, I start raiding their stuff. They come back, see my my fleet, and start having second thoughts. They keep running away if I try to engage them. The three wars have all ended in stalemates, with me occupying a bunch of territory, but them kicking the crap out of my fleet after I finally force the engagement. But the difference is I can rebuild my fleet and they can't. The next one will be decisive. I'm about to start blowing up planets I'm so tired of their nonsense. Just not the big planets with unique buildings. I might neutron sweep those. Edit: Also fun, I had a Great Khan rise up shortly before all this Spiritualist business started. He went around conquering a bit, nearly destroyed the determined exterminators. And then seemingly when he should have started hittting his stride, even though it barely started, and just when I was going on the offensive... he died. And it split up. It was so anticlimactic.

Chaos;Head I came for crazy high school Steins;Gate, but now it's starting to feel like bloodless Dies Irae. Psychic swords is a bit too Chuuni for my tastes.

What is Square Enix's obsession with porting phone versions of old games to PC? Chrono Trigger is out on Steam today. And there's some complaints. https://twitter.com/thatsmytrunks/status/968532390934188034 I don't mind the filter on scenes, FFVI's was worse. But the UI is a complete joke and the overworld is disgusting.
