  1. The torches were useless. They only do 1 point of damage a swing. The flasks aren't really better. If they get in melee combat with any of your party and you don't have anyone with precise shot, you'll be missing with the flasks and, again, only doing a single point of damage a toss. I killed one of them and nearly killed the other with a single cast of burning hands. If you can get your hands on it. Still, since I've decided to focus my Sorc on damage dealing now I'm enjoying it a bit more. There's another encounter I see lots of people complaining about being forced to concede or lose.. I just came in, tossed out magic missiles, and watched the bad guy run with his tail between his legs. The guy was trying to cast Summon Monster II. Never got it off.
  2. Playing Telltale's Batman, just finished Episode I. I really like it. I was hoping to play my Bruce as irresponsible playboy Bruce instead of social crusader Bruce, but you can't have everything. I guess I finally get what people said when they said the engine is **** and dated. Faces just look funny half the time. Also I finished 428 Shibuya Scramble. Pretty good.
  3. Superman isn't Tim Daly? Whole thing is a fraud, I tells ya'!
  4. I'm getting pretty concerned about that. With them inflating encounters, I'm kind of concerned I'll be fighting a final boss that requires +4 weapons to-hit with a party where half of them only have +3. (or worse, one of the companions uses a bleeding scythe, what are the chances I'll find an upgrade for that?) And I'll need to be intimately familiar with what are the best buffs on the cleric and have my Sorcerer focus on all the exact dispelling spells to overcome protections. Always a problem I ran into with the final bosses in Baldur's Gate games. I think the only time I didn't have to cheese or cheat was my second playthrough of Shadows of Amn.
  5. Okay, so started up a new game and am doing quite a bit better. Helps that my build is better, I actually bothered to put points in Dex this time around so my crossbow isn't garbage. I swapped out Abyssal for Infernal Bloodline because I didn't even notice Infernal was a thing before, and now I've stopped pretending I'm playing an enchanting summoner, so I just blast fools when fools need blasting. Still haven't gone after that swarm. I'm only halfway through level 2, after all. But I am on course to round out my party.
  6. I'm probably going to restart. I've heard about several quests I never got. And my guy is kind of poorly optimized. The game seems to assume a higher level of optimization for normal than I went in with (like the only reliable method I've heard for killing those swarms is burning hands, which I don't have, the flasks are a joke and people are going broke affording enough). Which is kind of a problem since the companions aren't that greatly optimized either.
  7. let them swarm someone who is not throwing them I did. Maybe the penalty is listed as throwing into combat? Anyway, my guy throwing is in the back quite a bit away. I assume it's a penalty to make sure I'm not hitting my own team member. Like penalties in older D&D games for trying to shoot bows at guys your tanks were engaged with.
  8. I have a bunch of firebombs. But the firebombs only do 1 damage to each swarm. The swarms move too fast and then I'm stuck throwing into melee at -8 penalty. I'd need to roll an 18 to hit.
  9. This might be probably bug, but try to put down all your armour before sleep. In PnP sleeping in armour unless you have Endurance feat makes you fatigued/exhausted. I do not know how the game handles this though. Still had no chance to buy it. Game handles it automatically. If you get ambushed, armored characters fight without.
  10. Oh, and word of advice. There's a tooltip that tells you that torches do AOE damage and swarms hate them. The tooltip is a bloody liar. Who gives a swarm something like 30 HP, anyway? It's madness!
  11. I ran around the map grinding random encounters, then went back to the area I was having trouble at. Fought a few things I thought would be too strong, found they weren't, and eventually hit level 3. And then ended up in a place that rounded out my party to 6. Let's do this! Only downside is I don't have enough rations to rest inside a dungeon.
  12. I've heard lots of complaints about balance and, frankly, I have to agree. I'm running an area that I think is supposed to be where I'm supposed to be and half the enemies die in one hit and the other half hold person or fear spam me until my tanks die. There's no consistency. It's not even off the main quest. I'm on the main quest and running into traps that my Bard failed and triggered three times in a row. Then swarmed by giant centipedes that fall down dead, who then get backed up by rogues and priests who hold spam my tanks so the rogues can gank them. There was one part on this main quest where I got a new party member who was standing right next to a sword and board bad guy the moment they joined me. He crushed her in two swings. My guys killed two other guys, went to face that one, and he crushed two of them as well before going down. He wasn't a boss. Dude didn't have a name. He was just some mook who got enlarge person cast on him in round one. Took me three reloads before I daze spammed that guy enough to save the new party member, and then had her light cure spam one of the tanks. He still took the tank out and then her. So I took the win of only 2 of my party going down instead of 4.
  13. Now I just need a dino movie with feathers.
  14. I just think sword and spell are cool. Bow and spell is lame.
  15. Latest season of Bojack is pretty okay. Not nearly as soul shattering as many previous ones.
  16. I finally finished Welcome to Nightvale. Very fun and silly book. Now I'm back to my weeb crap with Konosuba 6. When I'm done with that, I'll probably be reading Cormac McCarthy's the Road as inspiration for my current writing project.
  17. I feel like you're spoiling a book I've already read twice. I really should read it again.
  18. How the heck are you guys remembering that book subplot? I was obsessed with Jurassic Park in the 90s and about the only thing I remember from the books is the Pteranadon river in JP and the invisible dino in LW. Also this was a very fun movie. I have to recommend it.
  19. I went ahead and bought the Imperial edition. I love the party split at the end of the tutorial. I got most of what I wanted, Barbarian girl, vampire cutie, and some tower shield lady. Kind of wanted the Dwarf instead, but I'll take her. But why is that girl journaling as if she's in my party? I had the hardest time deciding between Magus and Sorcerer. Magus looks like it has MAD issues so I gave up on it. And as per tradition you can't romance her. Curse this hollow world. Alas, when will our demands for Viconia 2.0 be heard? On reflection, I'm thinking about restarting as a Magus. Someone convince me not to.
  20. A neutral evil vampire cutie? Well well well.
  21. Only TWD season 1 made a profit. Wow. (Edit: And Minecraft) Edit: Official Statement from their Twitter. https://twitter.com/telltalegames/status/1043252010999410689/
  22. I'd agree that others were taking their idea and doing better. Until Dawn comes to mind. But Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us were still incredible. I'll continue to wonder what could have been with season 2.
  23. Telltale games is shutting down. From what I can gather, it sounds like they're laying everyone off except just enough team to finish the final season of The Walking Dead. Then they're done. http://gamasutra.com/view/news/327085/Report_The_Walking_Dead_developer_Telltale_Games_closing_down.php https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/21/17888162/telltale-games-layoffs-the-walking-dead As always, here's to hoping people land on their feet.
  24. I hope they just have a bad ADR for this trailer. Because I really want them to pull this off. Growing up the character seemed like B-list eyecandy Marvel didn't really know what to do with. I know Marvel has supposedly turned it around in the comics, but it'll be great to finally see her grow into her own without wading into years worth of serial baggage.
  25. 428 Shibuya Scramble A popular visual novel using live action instead of drawing. It's a mystery revolving around a kidnapping case with plenty of expected Japanese wackiness. One moment you're reading about a cop chasing down an international crime syndicate operating in Shibuya, the next moment you're reading about Tama, who is stuck in a cat mascot costume and is trying to peddle a spicy drink as a dietting miracle.
