Free games can still make money through these things called M I C R O T R A N S A C T I O N S.They may not sell copies, but they can still definitely contribute to revenue for Valve. But if the top sellers list is determined by downloads, then I suppose it doesnt matter how much money is made by the games.

That is Bioware fans in general it seems, and I am a Bioware fan myself. I always loved the flawed gem that is Dragon Age 2, because it deconstructed all the narrative and character cliches of BW since BG1. Of course, the raging butthurt over it led to the Mary Sue filled retcon extravaganza known as Dragon Age Inquisition. And I'm a Bioware fan who thinks DA:I is the best in the series. Where do we go from here? I also loved ME3 btw, including the ending which I found poetically beautiful, so I might just be weird I loved ME3 too. I'm in the same boat as you, as not many fans like DA2, while I think it had the best story in the series. DAI wasn't a bad game, it was just way too much fan service, while kind of pissing on the lore of the Qunari and Tevinter. It was fun to RP a rebel mage, and have people like Cassandra hate me for it. ME3 is an amazing game imo and although I wasn’t a fan of the ending, the beautiful, fan-servicey DLC made up for any of my gripes with it. DAI, as somebody who never played the previous games, was not my cup of tea. I feel like the story petered out after the 1st Act, but I can understand if people stil lenjoy it for the new things it did with the series.

Patch 1.2 Paladins
anathanielh replied to Anaeme's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Err - because Unbending is a healing ability as well? And even if it wasn't a self healing but provided DR (which it doesn't): there's zero difference between healing or taking reduced damage when it comes to sturdyness. Because the health mechanic of PoE is gone. It's all preventing health from dropping in the end now. Tanking means to withstand a lot of damage output while binding forces. Whether this capability comes from self healing, avoiding to get hit or damage reduction doesn't matter at all. And please leave out this "which planet" nonsense when discussing stuff with people who try to bring up reasonable arguments. You don't even know what stacks and what not but make strong statements about classes and their defensive capabilities while dismissing others as lunatics. A bit more self-effacement would suit you much better in situations where you are just guessing the actual game mechanics. Because you don't want to sound like firkraag888 and master guardian all the time. Every now and then is enough teasers. Oh boy, master guardian. Just when I was starting to forget... -
No, people must fight. Only one opinion can rise to the top and transcend into the ultimate truth that we shall all abide by. They both are good. And we're talking. NAY! This is a verbal bloodmatch and the world is your spectator. Slaughter each other mercilessly in your quest to find the answers you seek. sarcasm.

Patch 1.2 Paladins
anathanielh replied to Anaeme's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You are absolutely correct, but like I said, I still found it pretty forgiving that I could run around with a robe and a stick and still be a functional tank. It’s my experiences with them that make me think they are in a good place despite the nerfs. -
Patch 1.2 Paladins
anathanielh replied to Anaeme's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Neither do a ranger and a pet if we're going by classic CRPG/D&D standards (eh, there was the beastmaster subclass, but pet+ranged was hardly class-defining). Paladins have been able to alternate between off-tanking and solid DPS since PoE1. I would have thought that currently in terms of DPS in Deadfire: 1. Rogue. 2. Monk 3. Wizard 4.Druid 5. Barbarian 6. Cipher 7. Ranger 8. Priest 9 . Paladin I putting priest above paladin becasue they get holy fire, shining beacon You forgot fighter and I think Paladins gain most of their damage potential from multiclass (Although I guess that doesnt count) and dual wield (full attack FoD + extra if you’re bleak walker + shared flames gives party and self dmg) That's the subclass configuration I tested. One-handed or two-handed styles benefit significantly less from FoD and so traditional Greatsword/sword-and-board paladins probably do have some trouble in the DPS department. But I would argue that that's true of most one-handed/two-handed builds vs two-weapon, which is more a problem of poor game mechanics re: full attack than of paladins specifically. Ya, it's a real shame, but I was able to get through my first run of PotD with a quarterstaff paladin as an offtank support and had fun with it. I'm starting my second run after the expansion comes out and I plan to run either a greatsword or one-handed+buckler combo multiclass paladin. Paladins are one of the few classes that can multiclass with anything imo and still be relatively forgiving in terms of role and defenses. -

Eating at an Inn
anathanielh replied to DaufII's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah, that makes sense (I always assumed that the inn resting bonus came from a combination of food, drink, rest, entertainment, etc.), but the mechanics are still kind of silly. You can walk up to the bar and buy a drink, but you can't drink it. At the bar. I understand having the need to feed/water your crew, but making all alcohol no longer an at-will consumable was a big mistake, imo. I've seen multiple players say that they find it immersion-breaking that they can't just have a drink in a tavern, and rightly so. Drink at a bar!? What next? Do you suggest we bathe in bathhouses and eat at restaurants? You’re savages, the whole lot of you. -
Could you name me one BG2 encounter that requires metaknowledge? I don't think there are any. But then, our definition of metaknowledge might differ. When I first played the game, Kangaxx gave me the most trouble, and indeed I couldn't beat him until I remember those two Protection From Magic scrolls on sale at the Adventurers' Mart. I have subsequently come up with other strategies. Braccus Rex was a fairly difficult boss and I had to stack a whole bunch of boxes to hide behind in order to beat him.

I found camping supplies to be a real hassle to keep buying the further I got into PoE1. They just became a barrier to me using my favorite spells. I still enjoyed the game a great deal, but I rest spammed a ton. I understand that people don’t like being restricted to 2 spells per PL on their spellcasters, but I prefer having access to everything I’m going to use each fight, rather than saving all my spells for a boss or a few fights. I know that’s how DnD does it, but I don’t play DnD. I want my magical bois to use their magic. In deadfire I feel like I can get by with resting less often and I like that.

Once i've unlocked a few more success i'll consider going for mods tho.So i would be interested by this. It could be cool to see a (or multiple) nice unique morning star and a (or multiple) nice unique poleaxe. And if you could find something to mod the "maximum attack" stat for 2 handers it would be nice too ^^ I'l make 3 uniques of each type. So, you can give me ideas for creating good and useful 2H items GreatswordsRemade Tidefall from PoE, wounding and draining with upgrade to inflict constitution affliction Greatsword with elemental lash Greatsword with increased pen and critical modifier, maybe crushing lash Tidefall done. I will upload it tomorrow. Nice job! Would it be possible to have a vendor in the game who sell the cool gears in PoE 1 ? And how do u design the upgrade option of tidefall? I will upload today to my mod TT1 Unique Items, on Nexus. The vendor is the Wild Mare, in Neketaka. All my items are there. The upgrade is called "Formidable Blade" and is like @Veolfen asked me to do. Landing a Crit will give a chance to inflict constitution affliction (Sickened) for some time. I will decide today the % of chance and the ammount of time. Not sure yet. The Codex is the best item. 10/10

No, it does not. Even if it is meant as a compliment it is still inherently belittling and dehumanizing (or, in the case of Eora, I guess dekithizing). Oh well, I still wouldn’t go so far as to call him a racist though. He’s never shown that he believes he’s superior to any of the other kith or discriminated anybody in my playthrough. It’s debatable whether saying orlans are animals is a racist statement, but I think it’s comparable to me using the n-word as a term of endearment with my family and friends because I’m black, so I don’t mind him.
