If Vader hadn't stepped in, Luke would have been a Light Side corpse, and the Emperor would have shrugged and moved on; certainly not happy at the outcome, but really none the worse for it. The Emperor failed to turn Luke, but I'm thinking 'defeating a Sith Lord' involves something a little more important than inconveniencing him. Luke beat Vader. Vader beat the Emperor. i voted luke even though obi is my favourite. luke rebuilt the order and confronted the sith which neither obi-wan or yoda had the courage to do. yoda is one of my favs too but he was having struggles with the ds i think in ep. 2 otherwise he would have seeked anakin out after the tattooine incident and helped him. maybe overcoming his own temptation made him the good teacher he was in ep 5 and 6
