Yeah combat seems to be infrequent but meaningful so far, up to about level 5.

Yeah imo this is the best Larian game. Story is actually interesting, which helps.

I've been playing this solo as an undead elf (because I needed a corpse eater for plot reasons and an undead for... well also plot reasons but I didn't want to hire Sebille or Fane because I like Ifan, Lohse and Beast more) and also been playing co-op with one of my friends as Lohse (he's playing as an elf) and thoroughly enjoying both experiences. Also undead make the best lockpickers.

That wasn't really unique to gender roles though, was it? It wasn't like every other peculiarity of the world you're in, they acknowledge your character's knowledge.

Pistol whipping might be useful on a pistol toting ranger. So they'd be a character who ideally wants to stay shooting all the time, but if someone gets up in their grill they can get slapping.

Did someone mention already that 20 bucks gets you all the DLC? Probably but here it is again everyone buy some DLC IMO.

Doesn't actually exist, sorry. (I think I had him in one list and then deleted and/or forgot about him I dunno.) (Anyway most of the BG2 'companions' were probably closer to 'sidekicks' in terms of content.)

BG2 Companions (but not quite because slightly less interaction): Aerie, Anomen, Cernd, Edwin, Imoen, Jaheira, Jan, Keldorn, Korgan, Mazzy, Nalia, Viconia. (Characters who EITHER have a quest after you get them or you can romance.) BG2 sidekicks: Haer'Dalis, Minsc, Yoshimo Some people like Minsc despite him not having 'companion level' interaction. Some people never romanced Aerie, Jaheira, Anomen or Viconia, and thus didn't get the extra interactions with them, and still didn't mind having them around. Not many people criticised BG2 as being 'Frankensteinish' or whatever for having NPCs with varying levels of interaction.

Sidekick is a neat idea IMO. Gives a bit more variety for those who want more to pick from, but the devs don't have to go nuts creating all the permutations of interactions for each one. Might also be useful for people who 'accidentally' got one or more of the continuing companions killed, or make them angry in number 2.

Also that references the way companions feel about each other, so hopefully Eder will live happily ever after with Pallegina or something.
