  1. I see. My only caveat is that spellcasters are kind of hit-or-miss when it comes to dps. Since the number of spells are so limited, missing on important ones that target enemies really irks me. Aloth misses so often it's not even funny. So does Xoti. Only Tekehu manages to hit with spells fairly consistently as I observed, but I usually use him as the heal bot. Most of my spellcasters are buff/cc/heal bots. I'm mostly concerned about that aoe cold invocation, because it will hit allies. I'd need to be very particular with my positioning. Not to mention the new DLC has cold resistant enemies as I figured and heard. Is there a way to empower cold or even corrode damage with items? Haven't memorized all the items yet tbh, so don't remember. I was also thinking maybe dual class Wiz/Skald to get Wiz buffs and more cold spells, especially Chill Fog. Not sure if it's a good idea or not.
  2. Well, as I said, I'm not looking for be-all end-all builds that make challenging fights laughable. I'm looking for builds that aren't following the usual OP combos, but ones that nevertheless make sense and look fun anyway. And of course satisfy my whim. I roll with in-game companions, not custom followers. Sometimes I take a side character like Ydwin. I find the game more enjoyable if I'm more invested in their stories and banter and whatnot. I don't think you need to find perfect setups to do PotD, just something that has synergy with your party. And is fun, of course.
  3. But you're focusing on weapon dps that way, right? I mean I gotta hit stuff either way, so yeah might as well.
  4. Do lashes on weapons really add to spell damage? I need to look into mechanics deeper lol. What do you reckon would be a good 2ndary class for the dual sabre Skald build you suggested? Or is single class a better choice?
  5. Thanks for the reply. I could probably level alchemy and use poisons on my DoT character(s), too. I tried WotEP, but the base damage was underwhelming. Maybe I should give it another try. I really wanted to just one/two shot squishies to get those annoying casters out of the fight as soon as I can. Should I use Grave Calling and that chanter Sabre (forgot name) you can buy from Dark Cupboard on the chanter you suggested?
  6. Hello. I wanted to create a new MC for the BoW dlc (yeah a bit late I know), and I was wondering if some of with deeper game knowledge could give me some tips on class build. I've been looking at the builds, but I kinda want to create my own twist on things or come up with new stuff. I just can't decide what I want heh. Just fishing for ideas right now. PotD run with scaling and BB. Full party. Doesn't have to be an uber build, just be fun and be able to make it work. Anyway, gonna pile up what I was thinking. 1. Is there a way to make a DoT-heavy build? Maybe based on corrode abilities? I noticed Druid has some nice DoTs, but the Fortitude targetting kinda gets in the way often. What's the best way to reduce Fort on enemies? The amount of times my spells get resisted is nothing short of ridiculous. But then I often see things like missing with FoD + arquebus modal (73 acc vs 48 def), and it's not even that rare. I was planning on using Aloth for CW + DoTs. I'm guessing debuff-type DoTs don't really trigger CW, though, only things like Wall of Flame do, is that right?. 2. The other thing I wanted to try was something that does very high single-target damage that can eliminate backline squishies fast. I'm guessing you'll be recommending Assassin with Arquebus, although I actually wanted to go melee. Opening with a ranged weapon is ok, though, I just want to switch to melee afterwards and still be useful. 3. My third idea is some kind of cold-based spellcaster. Do Ninagauth's Freezing Pillar and CW cancel out each other? Either way, anything that uses cold damage works for me, be it spellcaster, martial or spellblade. Thanks for any and every input.
  7. Is it me or is using the classic dag/stiletto Assassin a bad idea stat-wise? Kinda goes against logic, sadly. I wanted to run a run-of-the-mill classic 'sin with Rust's Poignard and that dagger sold in Neketaka, both apply a dot. Combined with poisons that could be a lot of dots. Also, does The Red Hand's double attack both trigger the passive from stealth?
  8. I'll try this at some point. I'm a tad confused about the 20 MIG, then followed up by "MIG is kept at 10" . What's that about? Also, if the armor gives INT affliction immunity, can't I just go dual sabres? Would a 2h work like Whispers of the E.P. or Wahai Poraga?
  9. Level scaling will solve that probably. @OP You can edit your title.
  10. I'm not too worried about twin shots honestly. By the time I reach that level it's close to end game. And I love multi-classes.
  11. Looks promising, although the graphics are a bit cartoonish. I like my cRPGs with a more dark/serious atmosphere. I'll give it a shot, though. As long as the combat is fun and the story is compelling, I'm sold.
  12. Doesn't that slow him down too much? Although that arbalest is better with metaphysics, right?
  13. Does AS work differently in Deadfire? Wiki only has the PoE 1 version on it. I thought it works the same - every time they strike you, you trigger the spell. But I'm guessing it's different here.
  14. How does that Frostseeker build work? You put AS on your summon, then hit it 6 times with the aoe proc and you get 6x AS hits + the aoe procs from the bow?
  15. I was pretty torn between those exact ones, actually. I'm also planning on having a chanter for the ranged speed buff in the party. I just wanted to try dual pistol at some point simply because it's so piraty and badass lol. How exactly do reloads happen with dual ranged weapons, though? I remember trying it at some point when the game came out, but I recall it being somewhat clunky or not reloading properly, idk. Oh yeah how does melee/ranged dual wield work exactly btw?
  16. Hey. Just want to collect some thoughts on how I should make a decent damage dealer that's purely ranged. I want to be more like a snipy character, staying back and shooting from a safe distance, maybe even get a bit closer and go for the annoying backline squishies. I'd prefer builds that employ dual pistol (or maybe even blunderbusses) or bows, namely Frostseeker. Any ideas are welcome, no class restrictions. Go ham!
  17. So reading these replies, basically everyone's advice is to just cheese the fights. I did Gorecci by pulling and separating them as much as I could, and I had to skip the conversation with the gang leader dude because I wanted the violent option, but the moment we stop talking I instantly get killed in under a second lol, and again my MC is pretty decent stat-wise. Decently tanky for a dual-wielder while also doing respectable damage (compared to my companions it's more like almost the only source of damage heh) . With the panthers, boars and the young drake at the dig site I had no other option but to sneak past them. I'm at Neketaka now, level 10, difficulty is again back to the regular cakewalk. Maybe I should reinstall Deadly Deadfire.
  18. Speak for yourself, Boeroer, my gf is a wizard IRL. She can make my money disappear without a trace.
  19. Yeah, though I'm surprised that Obsidian was surprised. All of the factions are unpleasant (more or less) and there is clearly not a "good" faction option. And I'm not complaining about it, but for me it's obvious that you'd have to roleplay a pretty fanatic character to stick with a given faction to the end. I agree, though I went with Rautai on my 1st playthrough. I know they're kinda warmongering and soldier-like, but I liked what they stood for - progress, order, security. I wanted to help out the Huana at first, but then I saw the dark side of the crown, which I hated, couldn't stand behind it. My 2nd choice would've been Aeldys, but..she's a pirate after all. And the VTC are pretty much today's big corporate, only in it for the $$$.
  20. Could somebody talented with Photoshop please do me a solid and try to remove the crest from her forehead? Much thanks in advance.
  21. I know it's difficult mostly because I lack any cc, but even Aloth has big trouble landing spells :-/ . Edér dies very fast, too. My MC is a dual-wield (swords) Devoted/KindWayfarer, and by far the only character in my party who can actually do meaningful damage and also stay alive long. But some encounters seem very hard without cheese tactics.
  22. Humph. So they increased the difficulty. That fight was basically impossible with only me, Edér and Xoti. I used Hylea's boon food, a lot of potions and bombs...still couldn't survive long enough. I had to completely avoid the fight and sneak into the ruins, then they were gone. Right now I'm having trouble in general encounters, like with Xaurips that constantly paralyze my party and stuff. I find myself having to use literally everything in my arsenal to come out of certain fights that were cake walks before, and I find myself resorting to cheese tactics like pulling and abusing chokepoints. Maybe I shouldn't have made Edér F/R and only Fighter. Idk. Aloth literally can't touch mostly anything, with having about 37-40 accuracy on spells vs 70-80 defenses..
