*confused* Cedega does work with copy protections. Just not the CSV you can compile yourself. If you get a paid subscription (and thus access to their pre-compiled version), there shouldn't be a need for a nocd crack. At least not with some of the protections (not sure it supports them all). As I said, I have no experience with Cedega on my own, this is just what I read when I wanted to find out more. But the pages I did read cited licensing issues to be the reason for copy protection code not being in downloadable source code.

Cedega price: If you're getting the compiled version from Transgaming, you need to be a subscriber of their Cedega service. That costs $5 per month and includes (limited) support, access to forum and of course any and all updates they release. It's also possible to download the source from them for free and compile it yourself. Doing it this way will leave out some functionality though. Specifically, Cedega won't be able to handle copy protection (that part of the code is licensed from the copy protection companies) so most games will require a nocd crack to function. Note that Cedega is not released under GPL, so the source code being available can change at any time. Also note that while the base may be Wine, the two are now developed completely separately since Wine switched over to the GPL license. Or do you mean the quest where you have to pretend to be watchmen buying some illegal stuff? Because that too, is directly copied (just from the other way) by the thieves guild as well. Just put yourself in the city watches place instead of the thieves and vice versa. That's the one I meant. I never got it working for the thieves so I figured it was unique for the watch. I guess I was wrong. Then I suppose it can be argued that the thieves path is more fleshed out. With only a few lines of dialogue I didn't really think there was enough difference to make a fuss about one being better implemented than the other. With one additional quest I suppose it could be, although I personally don't care. I liked working for the watch better, mostly because it was so frustrating never getting to unlock the Shadow Thief of Amn PrC. At least with the Watch path I never had to worry about that. Vastly different? Other than the drunkard what differs? It's the only one I noticed.

Thieves vs Watch: Both have the same number of quests. With the thieves you get the kill Moire quest in Act III and with the watch you get the negotiation quest in Act II. I personally liked the negotiation quest better, but that's mostly due to the Moire quest being bugged when I played it. IIRC, the guy that hangs around in the throne room can be recruited for that position regardless of what path you took. The difference is that if you went with the thieves he is mandatory, otherwise optional. Also, supposedly he can get a gambling den, but never has for me. With my thief, I wanted him to have that and held out for a long time, so I'm guessing that option is only available for Watch characters. All in all, it pretty much balances out. Also, I had a MUCH tougher time fighting guards than I did fighting thieves in those respective quests. Backstabs just weren't as annoying as opponents that never went down to me.

I just wish they would have announced this expansion much, much sooner. I had Oblivion installed for a few months after release, but once I completed it I had no desire to play it again. So of course it got uninstalled and my character deleted. And I really don't want to start over with a fresh character just for the expansion. I should have known better (they have a history of expansions after all) and kept the character, but I guess I didn't think. So odds are good I'll pass on this, even though I am curious to see if Bethesda can actually succeed at writing. And yes, the voice acting in Oblivion was at some times atrocious (sometimes it was good, but for the most time decisively mediocre). Still, had it not been fully voiced, I would probably not have played it at all. It did help with making the characters feel alive. I mostly just wish they would have used a few more actors. And more specifically not have the same voice for orcs and humans.

While it's been a while since I played and my memory may be failing me, I'm pretty sure Oblivion was fully voice-acted.

Downloading them is definitely illegal. US Copyright lasts for something like 75 years. Unles, of course, White Wolf has released the old books ino the public domain, something I sincerely doubt. Especially since they're releasing books for Vampire: The Requiem. And even more so since they're selling them as eBooks at drivethrurpg.com. They're selling at half cover price and I think they have more or less everything that was ever released (I didn't check though, but there are planty of books.). If it's physical books that is desired I'd guess Amazon and eBay are the best bets. It depends on how you value naming. The division of Interplay that would be named BIS existed prior to, and was responsible for, the release of Fallout. However, it wasn't named BIS until the release of FO2. (I think, but I'm not sure, that if you go by when the division was formed, they are responsible for another game as well. But this could be me imagining stuff)

BGII Irenicus is invulnerable if you try to take him on without the help of the inmates. Edit: NWN2 Zaire can't be hurt unless you first take down the portal, but she can still hurt you.

Depends on the definition on effeminate. If you're going with "characterized by excessive softness, delicacy, self-indulgence, etc", then yeah, pretty much. A tosser for sure.

There is no way in hell Sci Fi would do a Transmetropolitan series. It's too controversial and has too much freaky stuff going on. Sci Fi channel, for all it's niche glory, still basically plays by the same rules as does the major networks, providing fairly safe content (Battlestar Galactica could be seen as somewhat controversial, but it's cleverly enough hidden not to be blatant). It'd require channels such as HBO or Showtime to show an interest, possibly FX. But I think it's too out there even for them (and in those cases the cyberpunk setting probably speaks against it). At least Preacher is somewhat grounded in the real world. It's a bit similar to Carnivale in a way, so HBO could be a good fit (although they canceled Carnivale, so who knows). I love Transmetroplitan and think it's a fantastic read. But the odds of it making the transition to American television are really bad. Maybe if the Global Frequency pilot had been picked up and then turned into a hit, Warren Ellis name alone could sell it. But since it didn't I just can't see it happening. Nor am I sure it should. Transmetropolitan is a perfect fit for the medium it was published in. I'm not sure it'd fare well in the transition.

That would be me. For me (and others who got the same bug) the game would crash on area transitions involving an autosave (in my case from Blacklake only, but I've seen others). The crash would occur while the game was saving so the old save in that slot would be deleted and no new one replace it. It also caused the second last save you made to be corrupted. With three save slots I think it could be worked around, or one could just turn Hi Res textures off. I haven't had this problem since I installed patch 1.03, but I have only just gotten to Blacklake again, so who knows. Having Hi Res textures on makes the game look so much better though (and with very little performance hit) so it's worth the risk. I never experienced missing textures or anything like that though, so it doesn't seem to be the same problem.

That sounds pretty bad. I have not experienced bugs with that severity, although when I attempted to patch a few days ago I had modules missing. I'm not sure if this would have affected gameplay, but it was enough to prevent the patch, so I re-installed (which I didn't mind doing too much). Maybe your missing textures and aberrant companion behaviour is caused by the same thing, maybe it's totally unrelated. Anyway, what I was really going to say in this post is that 1.03 isn't fully patched. 1.04beta is fully patched. I can't see myself ever playing this game again without that patch. The main reason is that combat modes now work without turning themselves off at the end of a turn. It makes a huge difference in how the game is played. All of a sudden, spellcasters can still be useful when someone has bumrushed them. Maybe it fixes your problem as well, although I wouldn't count on it. I think that his complaint is that energy spent on making a tool-set user friendly is energy that is not spent on improving the gameplay. Thus with an improved toolset comes an inferior game which is bad news for anyone who has no interest in the tools what so ever. But I'm sure Eldar can explain himself better than I can. Certainly using more words anyway.

We must have watched completely different shows. It's true that the person he was after changed a lot, but I never had any problems making the connections. I always felt it made perfect sense. But hopefully we'll both enjoy season six. Well, no. The best episodes are close to season one quality, but it's a tad uneven I have to admit that. But so far I think the current season has been better than season 2 (which was even more uneven). I still think it's better than most shows out there though.

That's odd. Popular opinion is that The Wire really wants to be watched in as few sittings as possible (although I think one could be stretching it). The season really plays out like a long movie instead of episodic as most TV shows do (even when they do have an overarching plot). Normally I'm not a fan of slow pacing, but with The Wire it just works. There is no show with better acting or writing, of that I'm certain. Words can't express how much I love this show. It's a bit saddening that the next season will be the last, but on the other hand I'm glad that a show like this got to run it's entire arch in spite of not bringing in the viewers (but the critical acclaim). Wow. Again, you're definitely going against the grain. I think season 5 was the strongest season of 24 ever. Well, that and the first. The second doesn't even come close (although it was better than the third). And I know I'm not alone. But to each their own, I just can't wait for the next season to start. I'm getting giddy thinking about it. The rest of your post I basically agree with (although I think VM is better than you do obviously).
